captainclayman I have to agree with Fack. Althought Call of Duty and Knack are different genres, a lot of games are being under rated for the fact that you can shoot and kill. Call of Duty might have a multiplayer and guns and etc. but its nothing new we haven't seen from previous Call of Dutys. Even IGN released a video where Ghost looked like MW2. Each game has it advantages and Knack has its pros and cons but a simple review doesn't always say the truth.
What makes COD a better game than knack is the fact that you never buy it for the main campaign: IT HAS MULTIPLAYER, AND ONLINE. In knack, there's nothing like that. Maybe there's Co-op, but it's not as deep. You play it for the adventure... and the adventure is pretty lame.
What i hear from your comment is that your are paying $60 for the same thing over and over while knack might be just a single campaign story it is something that is different from running and gunning and tries to give you a childhood/family moment in a industry over run fps. COD may have more options but it will never be a "better" game for the fact that it has stopped bringing totally new stuff to the genre and it has been over run by Battlefield.

I love these release titles that are specifically made to show off the new hardware. Knack is designed to show off the particle effects and physics that the PS4 can render on the fly. Then a year or so later we just get the standard usual games of the last gen, just with better visuals.

I think I'll wait until Final Fantasy XV, Infamous: SS and The Order 1886 are out before I get a PS4. I'll just stick with my PC and buy a Wii U in the meantime. It's a well designed console but I'd rather get an XB1 at launch, the PS4 isn't really offering enough on the exclusives front of things.

I'm praying that watchdogs is good. The setting and gameplay has me extremely interested. I just hope they execute it well. It is really the only next gen game I'm even remotely interested in.

When someone is playing a game that he hates he will give it a really bad score, and that's what this guy is doing. You can see it from the way he is talking that he doesn't enjoy Knack and it seems he was enforced to do play it.
I think people are only hating on this review because people had huge expectations for the game and the funny thing is everybody who disagrees with this review haven't even played it yet so having any opinion about the game doesn't matter at all.
Seems like Mark Cerny didn't make the masterpiece people were expecting from him. Then again, he said himself it was "just a little game I was doing on the side". It does seem like a good bit of fun though, but probably not worth the price of 60 euro's.
knack has a ps2 crash bandicoot or ratchet and clank feel. this game is obviously aimed for the younger gamers (duh), and young gamers would view this as a fun game that they would play with their friends like in the old days.
Mario, a platformer, gives you an array of forms and abilities, but the developer dictates when to use them and where to go. But we love Mario and give it as close to a 10 as possible. This was my first look at Knack, and all I saw was unjustified bias. Or at least misrepresenting of flaws. another example: He was really picking at that story line, but we're fine when bowser or ganon steal a princess.
Can I go on? The game clearly has plenty of imagination and heart and creativity put into it, in the looks and the gameplay and so on. Yet, he chooses to append to every great thing he says with a negative critique that are either is weaker than the positive or just completely unrelated. You know another game that restricts the size of the character based on the level? Katamari Damacy. Fantastic game. And how many great games "cheat you out" of the satisfaction of playing a level with a polished cut scene and big explosion? It didn't make sense!

This game had an interesting idea - shame it didn't really take it as far as it could've. I'm hoping it gets a sequel where they sort the problems out, like Red Steel 2.
I hope they make a sequel where they can push the game further than what it is. The first Assassin's creed was boring as hell, but look at how far that's come since its first iteration.

I just got this game, and to be honest... im loving it. Its bringing back all those memories of Spyro and Crash are flooding back. Its funny to think this is the game that some kids will remember for the system, like Crash or Spyro did for the PS1. This review is terrible... the game is fun to play and thats all it needs to be, and the graphics are beautiful! I sometimes think im watching an animated movie. Hope they make sequels! :)

Mark Cerny himself stated that this is a game that is linear, fun to play, and is accessible for all audiences, including kids. i would like people to read my comment carefully. I feel that the game isn't bad but misunderstood in ways that people might argue over: 1. The game is meant as a portal back to the days when you would platform in spyro or crash bandicoot or even ratchet and clank. 2. The audience for the game is meant towards a younger group. As seen in the video it doesn't contain gore or guts being spilled by bullets or what not! 3. This is a game meant to be played with younger siblings or family members. y'know to have a good time for an hour then go back to daily routine.

Other than that. No enemy are different and you have to think about how to knock them out. Here you will learn there movement very quickly. Because the enemies have same movement. And if they are same movement than it is easy. A smart enemy react different like yourself. A good game should have creative enemies like God of war. Or other great game like horizon zero dawn.

you guys suck at reviewing. first, regarding the scale and how it won't cooperate with what YOU want, how would you like to try going through the smaller levels being the size of an office? it's like that for a reason secondly, it's a kid's game, it's meant to be easy to traverse and easy to find secrets I found the cut scenes interesting, not annoying, because of the flow you got from them the plot was simple but good, the reason you beat these guys up is because they pose a threat to you and/or other people, simple as that. knack is a good soldier who takes orders and listens to both sides of an argument he looks nothing like a muppet, what the hell kind of criticism nitpicking is that? there's a good deal of things to recommend here, every single one of my friends wants to play knack for one reason or another. mediocre, my ass. it was good, that's all there is to it, not great, but good.

***** oh its bad. its the worst ive ever seen. after making it through 3-5 near impossible level, and bam! you die and start all over. not to mention, if you quit the game in the middle of a chapter, you will start it all over. Bad checkpoint system + ridiculously low health (on hit will pretty much kill you instantly)= painful game. :(
KJohn060 Hahaha.....If you think this is bad, then you clearly haven't played Jak and Daxter (Jak 2 in specific), That game made me Rage Quit in the middle of it! It was SO Painful, and the checkpoint system was WAAAY worse than Knack's. And also, in terms of the checkpoint system in Knack, it's really not that bad! And from my playthrough of it, the checkpoints were actually generous AND reasonable compared to Jak 2 or Crash Bandicoot 1 IMO! I didn't have a problem in finishing Knack on Normal difficulty! So I don't see the problem about it.

When someone is playing a game that he hates he will give it a really bad score, and that's what this guy is doing. You can see it from the way he is talking that he doesn't enjoy Knack and it seems he was enforced to do play it.
I think people are only hating on this review because people had huge expectations for the game and the funny thing is everybody who disagrees with this review haven't even played it yet so having any opinion about the game doesn't matter at all.

Seems like Mark Cerny didn't make the masterpiece people were expecting from him. Then again, he said himself it was "just a little game I was doing on the side". It does seem like a good bit of fun though, but probably not worth the price of 60 euro's.
knack has a ps2 crash bandicoot or ratchet and clank feel. this game is obviously aimed for the younger gamers (duh), and young gamers would view this as a fun game that they would play with their friends like in the old days.
Mario 3D World is going to eat this, shit it out, urinate on it, bury it, and then laugh at it. Not even a competition.

Mario, a platformer, gives you an array of forms and abilities, but the developer dictates when to use them and where to go. But we love Mario and give it as close to a 10 as possible. This was my first look at Knack, and all I saw was unjustified bias. Or at least misrepresenting of flaws. another example: He was really picking at that story line, but we're fine when bowser or ganon steal a princess.
Can I go on? The game clearly has plenty of imagination and heart and creativity put into it, in the looks and the gameplay and so on. Yet, he chooses to append to every great thing he says with a negative critique that are either is weaker than the positive or just completely unrelated.
You know another game that restricts the size of the character based on the level? Katamari Damacy. Fantastic game.
And how many great games "cheat you out" of the satisfaction of playing a level with a polished cut scene and big explosion? It didn't make sense!

This game had an interesting idea - shame it didn't really take it as far as it could've. I'm hoping it gets a sequel where they sort the problems out, like Red Steel 2.
I hope they make a sequel where they can push the game further than what it is.
The first Assassin's creed was boring as hell, but look at how far that's come since its first iteration.

Let's be honest, did anyone actually think this was going to be an outstanding game? It looked average from the very first trailer.
I just got this game, and to be honest... im loving it. Its bringing back all those memories of Spyro and Crash are flooding back. Its funny to think this is the game that some kids will remember for the system, like Crash or Spyro did for the PS1. This review is terrible... the game is fun to play and thats all it needs to be, and the graphics are beautiful! I sometimes think im watching an animated movie. Hope they make sequels! :)

Mark Cerny himself stated that this is a game that is linear, fun to play, and is accessible for all audiences, including kids. The point of it making it not too confusing, and dynamic is so that anyone can play. Why does every game have to be multiple choice and dynamic! aaarrghhh

i would like people to read my comment carefully. I feel that the game isn't bad but misunderstood in ways that people might argue over:
1. The game is meant as a portal back to the days when you would platform in spyro or crash bandicoot or even ratchet and clank.
2. The audience for the game is meant towards a younger group. As seen in the video it doesn't contain gore or guts being spilled by bullets or what not!
3. This is a game meant to be played with younger siblings or family members. y'know to have a good time for an hour then go back to daily routine.

Other than that. No enemy are different and you have to think about how to knock them out. Here you will learn there movement very quickly. Because the enemies have same movement. And if they are same movement than it is easy. A smart enemy react different like yourself. A good game should have creative enemies like God of war. Or other great game like horizon zero dawn.

first, regarding the scale and how it won't cooperate with what YOU want, how would you like to try going through the smaller levels being the size of an office? it's like that for a reason
secondly, it's a kid's game, it's meant to be easy to traverse and easy to find secrets
I found the cut scenes interesting, not annoying, because of the flow you got from them
the plot was simple but good, the reason you beat these guys up is because they pose a threat to you and/or other people, simple as that. knack is a good soldier who takes orders and listens to both sides of an argument

I think knack is a game more appealing to casual gamers! That's my point! I know that a hardcore gamer is one who spend a great deal of time playing any type of video games, and this, my friend, superheroex7, is not a game most hardcore gamers would be eager to play! At least that's what I think!

***** oh its bad. its the worst ive ever seen. after making it through 3-5 near impossible level, and bam! you die and start all over. not to mention, if you quit the game in the middle of a chapter, you will start it all over. Bad checkpoint system + ridiculously low health (on hit will pretty much kill you instantly)= painful game. :(
KJohn060 Hahaha.....If you think this is bad, then you clearly haven't played Jak and Daxter (Jak 2 in specific), That game made me Rage Quit in the middle of it! It was SO Painful, and the checkpoint system was WAAAY worse than Knack's.
And also, in terms of the checkpoint system in Knack, it's really not that bad! And from my playthrough of it, the checkpoints were actually generous AND reasonable compared to Jak 2 or Crash Bandicoot 1 IMO! I didn't have a problem in finishing Knack on Normal difficulty! So I don't see the problem about it.
+Royal Knight i havent played this but i hate when theres a checkpoint every few feet it removes challenge. crash bandicoot and jak and daxters checkpoints are fine.
