Honestly, this seems like a perfect rework for Samus. She’s been modernized well, while keeping part of her old Smash identity. THIS is how you retool an old fighter. Definitely wouldn’t complain about more of these types of videos.

@@blakefenslerjr4858 No. If you rework one character, people will start asking for other characters to be reworked, but only the ones that actually need to be. Also, not sure if it's intentional or if it's because you haven't gotten tone down with English yet but you sound super hostile bro
@@RinZDR The flash shift wouldn't be as good of a roll anyway since it could only move you so far unlike in the game where it moves you quite a far distance.
@@splashor6361 I mean yeah true but even then the flash shift works way better as a “dodge” option, Im sure almost no one uses morph ball to dodge in metroid
An idea I had for Samus’ Final Smash is keeping it functionally like how it is currently with her Zero Laser, but with a catch. [Spoiler for those who haven’t played Dread] • Samus transforms her suit into the Metroid Suit and unleashes the Hyper Beam, now having a more pinkish-red color to it as opposed to blue.
Now THIS is something I can get behind! Rather than make movesets for newer characters, veteran characters can get a much needed touch up in between games. Of all the characters, Samus needed it the most. I would love it if you continued to make more videos like this. I'm surprised you didn't touch on her Aeion abilities such as Beam Burst or Flash Shift.
I didn't want to lean into Aeion abilities in this moveset. Felt like one thing too many. Plus, it leaves them free to use for future concepts...if such a thing were to happen...
Actually, the Dread Aeion abilities might be more apt here. The Phantom Cloak can be her Spot Dodge, her roll could be her Flash Shift. Hell, regarding her Jump, she could have more midair jumps like Kirby or other flying characters like Pit or Charizard. This would allow the Space Jump to be utilized.
Considering how quality your past movesets have been, I'm looking forward to more of these. Ganondorf is a stupid obvious character to make a video on, but I'd also love to see Mewtwo, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Sonic, Zelda, Kirby, or Wario
I feel like Shulk should also get a rework. His moveset is just... weird imo. Two of his Monado Arts don't even exist in the actual Xenoblade game, those being Smash and Jump. Two other Monado Arts that ARE actually in Xenoblade also work completely differently. Those two being Buster and Shield. Speed works just like how it should though. His up special should instead be Monado Cyclone, and his side special should be Monado Purge.
While Kirby is mostly fine in its current form, I think he needs some slight reworking. Some of his attacks could be one move per game and change to fit the context. Like making Stone his down air, rather than his down special and his down tilt, his slide attack. Helps give Kirby a balance of old and new, while keeping the originality.
Like someone also said, Flash Shift for ground/air directional dodge (Boost Ball when in Morph ball mode) and Phantom Cloak for spot dodge. Regular missiles shoot straight (no homing) but fire faster. Smash input missiles fire slightly slower, travel slower, but are ice missiles. For Final Smash, she gains the Metroid Suit and uses the Hyper Beam instead of Zero Laser. Also, for Morph ball mode, "A" for normal bombs, but "B" for Power Bombs (like Charge Beam), shorter range and it has a delay to detonate. Down tilt could be a slide (like Cloud). Grab jab could be rapidly firing the beam like in melee counter sequences. Since a lot of new characters have a gimmick, maybe hers would be switching between beams like in Prime (maybe using + Pad from taunts), slight mechanical differences, mostly aesthetic. For idle animation, lowers her Arm Cannon, sort of like Dread. I would like for one of the victory animations, she goes to Zero Suit
Slight thing to point out, Samus’ Brawl design is primarily her Super Metroid suit with some Prime flourishes. That said, I’d personally go for the Samus Returns Varia Suit as the traditional costume rather than Prime 4 since the former is still seen as the traditional one in the victory artwork in Dread. Not to mention that I’m curious if you can Shinespark while in a Morph Ball. That aside, it was fun editing the audio for this video. As for potential other remakes, I say mainly stick to various kinds of fighting games. But that’s just my opinion.
Actually believe it or not it's based off her Zero Suit design. If you take a look at the Fully powered suit on the mission finale screen. You can see a lot of similarities. Not many people realize this but Brawls suit is actually Zero Missions end game suit.
@@Spykitty358 100% this. Smash takes Samus' design from the most recent main series outing. Ultimate and Returns were just a bit too close together in development for it to work out there.
@@DarkLink1996. Yet Link and Mario have costumes based on Breath of the Wild and Odyssey which came before and after Samus Returns the same year respectively, they just were lazy with Samus in Ultimate.
@@Geneolgia Both were officially announced well before Samus Returns, which only had months between announcement and release. Since Sakurai isn't officially employed by Nintendo, he probably doesn't get previews into unannounced games unless required. He worked with what he could access.
This was great. Taking Samus and retooling what she has while keeping stuff that already worked. Really liked what you did here and would love to see more in the future.
I'll give a kudos here. I'm not a fan of most Smash fan driven character reworks, most of the time they focus more on cramming in references to the point that they ignore both overall design and the current players of those characters. You struck a good balance between old and new and in a lot of ways, did what I would do to update the character. My problem with Samus is that there isn't that what's there is wrong but that is there is more that can be done with what's there. One suggestion I would have is the ability to angle projectiles, either cardinal directions or full 360 if the engine allowed it.
Oh and as for suggestions on who should be remade next? Olimar. Between bad silhouettes and poses, a lack of care for the Pikmin and a lack of strategy elements. Olimar might be the single worst designed fighter in the series to the point that I think people are turned off of Pikmin because of how he is in Smash.
@@Jamester445 I think Olimar is lacking, but they did make an effort - by Brawl newomer standards, he was interesting. Wario and Ganondorf are the ones that really stand out as missed opportunities, but Yoshi could slot in there too.
@@orangeslash1667 My question is if the liberties are good ones. The attempts at faithfulness to the third party characters pretty much universally made them more fun and distinct. If he did that with Samus, Ganondorf and Yoshi the game would be richer for it.
@@fraudcakes Theres a reason why Travis, Dante, and Monster Hunter are Mii costumes. Sakurai looked at them and said Nope I can't put them in Smash without making some changes. Meaning if Samus was a third party character she would suffer the same fate as Doom guy.
Honestly, this is amazing. Just the right number of old moves and updated new stuff. Also like the synergy and thought you put between the moves! I think this rework would be neatly brought together with an additional Metroid Dread-style passive: "After using one of her (Dread style) counters attacks successfully, Samus locks onto the target for a very short moment, making her next neutral special automatically aim at the opponent.” Giving her the option to follow up with a guaranteed hitting neutral special. This follow up could go into: Being an additional poke tool with guaranteed hit, to rack up damage - but with little to no kill power. Or a react-able kill move, maybe a 50/50 depending if she charges the beam or not, to snipe enemies out of the air at higher precent, if the air-dodge or react badly. This would not only add more source material to her tool kit, but solidify her half-zoner and Setups playstyle as a character. Note: Hope you turn this into a series.
Something like: -Uncharged: quick three-shot followup, no knockback, hitstun, or launch power. Just tacks on some extra damage -Charged: Heavy hit, possibly only kills at 1.25x ~ 1.5x what it would take normally (to make up for it being almost guaranteed to hit)
I've been hoping you'd do something like this. Not sure if you're making it a series or not, but if you made more of these I'd definitely love to see them
Lifelong Samus main here. Great ideas for the rework! I especially love downthrow and jab rework with beam shots coming out. You'd think Samus would shoot a gun more often if it's built into her arm!
Would love to see more of these from you. Ganondorf for example. Maybe your version of Sora to include more of his capabilities? Kinda like how Sakurai kinda went ham with the full extent of Steve's capabilities.
I'd love to see you make more Remake It! videos like this, you did a great job overhauling Samus' moveset while still making it familiar enough for Smash veterans. I can only imagine how you'd retool other Smash veterans.
Even though I'm not a Metroid fan I recently picked up Samus as a secondary and I think you did her justice. I'd love to see your take on other Veterans like Sonic or Ganondorf since many people have complained on how their movesets poorly represented their character/games. Personally, there's certain characters that while having outdated movesets are still really fun to play as and/or watch in tournaments like DK and Jigglypuff. Excited to see this concept done with other games too!
I normally hate these kind of videos where they "remake" or "improve" something but after you mentioned all of the reworks I got to hand it to you, you actually made a really kickass version of Samus that I hella want to play. I hope they take any of your reworks because they are all bangers.
While I do like the idea of the omega Canon, I feel like the Metroid suit would be a much cooler final smash. Samus gets filled with rage and the desire to survive and transforms into a metroid and fires the blast from the end of metroid dread, and you can aim it up and down like Inkling's FS. Once it ends, an X parasite floats towards her and changes her back to her base form. Canonically doesn't make a lot of sense, but a LOT of smash lore doesn't, soooo yeah🤣
This is exactly what I was thinking, but question. I was confused about why he mentioned the Ω cannon instead of the Metroid suit, but the more I think about it, that could be kind of spoiler-y for people who haven't played Dread yet...what do you think?
@@rp-lopez It could be a big spoiler, but by the time the next smash game comes out, I think it will be past that time. I mean, stores are finally putting Grogu's name in merchandise. Just depends I suppose. And thank you! :)
Sets the bar very high for what the series has in store. I agree with everything suggested, it doesn’t feel like it has too MANY changes, and the playstyle stays relatively the same. This remake checks all the boxes. [8.5/10]
I’d love to see a Remake It! for Lucina and Chrom. They have no reason to be Marth / Roy Echoes imo, and instead should be Echoes of each other, drawing more from their own game, as well as their spin-off appearances such as FE Warriors and FE Heroes.

So glad I found this video--I've wanted a cool AND viable Samus design in Smash for forever. Spamus upsets me because of how cool she *should* be. Now I'm sad I can't actually go and play this version of Samus... and that's how I know your rework is excellent.
I love this new video of retooling older movesets from Smash fighters, and giving them newer, updated versions from their modern games! :D You've done a tremendous job of giving Samus brand new abilities since her moveset has become dated for more than 2 decades, and the recent Smash installment doesn't even use her appearance from Samus Returns, so this would be the perfect opportunity to include many of the attacks from her newest game especially since I was so disappointed that Breath Of The Wild Link was mostly just aesthetic changes, and didn't receive much of an upgrade, same with Mario not adding elements from Super Mario Odyssey (I mean, I get not wanting to change him too drastically since he's meant to be a fighter for beginners, but they wouldn't have to change too much, just replace his cape from Super Mario World with his tail power-up from Super Mario Bros. 3 since it would still have the same function, involve Cappy for Mario's grab by possessing them, have them attack themselves when possessed, then toss them in any direction for release, give Mario a much better Final Smash such as the possessed T-Rex from Odyssey, etc.), Luigi not borrowing many materials from the Luigi Mansion series, several of the Inkling's moveset involves them using their limbs, as well as them physically grabbing their opponents despite them not doing either in their games, etc. Regardless, I hope you'll continue the "Remake It!" series with more characters that really need an upgrade, veterans, and newcomers alike, such as Ganondorf so he doesn't feel like a clone of Captain Falcon anymore, Sonic The Hedgehog so he doesn't rely on himself curling into a ball so often, Daisy so she isn't a straight up copy of Peach since I know there's plenty of source material for her to use to be her own unique fighter, the Super Mario Land series, and the spin-offs (one of my wanted characters finally made it in, and, she's hardly original), etc.! I'd also be down with you doing other videos too, Delzethin! It'd be a nice change of pace! Look forward to the next video!
That said, I don't know if we can rely too heavily on there being future Smash installments. I mean, I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but I have read several articles that Sakurai isn't entirely sure if he's going to continue the series since the recent game took so much out of him, and his entire team to the point where he had to use an IV drip just to keep him going--yeah, that actually happened--so, for all we know, this could actually be it, and I have read that Sakurai did try having someone else take over for him, but it didn't pan out too well, so who knows what the future holds for the franchise especially since he doesn't plan on retiring till at the age of 60? I rather him , and his whole crew take a massive vacation for now, they deserved it (even if it's a little disappointing that Special's updates ended so early)!
@@kingnewcomer2029 I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
I wasn't expecting to kerp samus' old playstyle mostly in tact for this video, but once you explained all the moves it makes complete sense rather than making her closer to mega man like other ideas threw around. I'l love to see a modern take on Mario.
Her final smash should has turned her into her Metroid form so she can fire her really powerful beam that she has in that form it would be smaller but more powerful
This was great fun to watch, and I feel lucky that it's my introduction to the 'remaking character playstyles' kind of vid. It all seems interesting at least or *really* appealing at best. I will note that I worry the full-on shift to Morph Ball as a 'mode' might be too much; that's a potentially catastrophic amount of complexity to introduce into a situation of high speed reactions and particle effects going everywhere, worse still if it locks you out of any kind of attack option but bombs. I also hesitate at any kind of lowering of her overall attack power, but honestly tweaking it to improve her combo and general up close ability just feels right for the "eat your heart out, Kratos" version of her we have now. Would definitely watch a series about this.
I'd love to see more videos like this. There are lots of Smash characters that I feel could've been handled better, especially ones from older games, and I'm interested to see how you'd change their movesets up.
I like the final smash but damn I completely forgot about the omega cannon so immediately thought is it going to be the Full Metroid Beam from Metroid Suit Samus.
Gotta say, after watching a few of your moveset vids: You are easily the best person do this I've come across on the net. Usually fan movesets are just.................................yeh. Thank you for this. It's fun to imagine something that actually seems logical, fresh and fun! For all the characters you've done.
As main Samus, I can say that I love this moveset for Samus, it has been a character from my childhood and I always wanted to see some update in its arsenal, but with the few games and the great wait between each one, it was easy to expect that there would not be much material, but I consider that this is a very good job although I would personally maintain her neutral air, up-b and down-throw.
This was really enjoyable to watch. I have one issue, personally speaking. I absolutely agree with the counter swipe being used for her Up-Tilt and Dash Attack, but, I feel /also/ having it as her Forward Air steps into the Sonic and Mewtwo territory of "we do the same thing for 5 different attacks". (I would also change her up or side smash to a different beam, personally speaking.) I'd also personally give her the Space Jump, either as her Up-B, or just as multiple jumps, but that's not a gripe as much as just a personal taste, I suppose.
Superb! Really liking the blend of new and updated old here, especially the influences from _Dread_ and _Prime 3._ If you're taking requests for updated movesets; Ganondorf, Wario and Mewtwo would be great to see!
I would LOVE to see this series continue. I’m definitely biased towards smash since there are so many characters that need reworks (Ganon, Sonic, Banjo, Lucario, etc) and I would love to see your creative spin on it!!
@@metroidultimfan2552 I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
I feel like all of Samus's specials could be charge attacks. Power Beam / Charge Beam Missile / Super Missile (regular input); Chain Missile / Super Chain Missile (smash input) Bomb / Cross Bomb / Power Bomb
I've always thought it'd be a cool idea to have Samus able to charge all of her special moves to bring in new upgrades. Missiles charge to super missiles, charge beam, and bombs can charge into power bombs. With this moveset it would also give the shinespark a charge effect, increasing its distance and damage. Metroid's combat often involves careful positioning and timing while preparing for the right time to unleash a powerful hit so I think it'd reflect that playstyle really well
This is probably the best moveset redesign i’ve seen on youtube honestly. I’d love to see you tackle characters like Ganondorf, Sonic, or even a smaller video about changing a few moves (like giving Ike Ragnell’s actual ability in FE!)
I was hoping you'd do something like this! I love your approach to smash movesets so I'd definitely want to see more of this, but those other ideas you proposed for this series sound cool too. The only thing in this rework that I'd really want to change is that I don't like the current incarnation of her missiles. An idea I've had for a while is trading out her super missiles for an ice missile, and giving both limited ammo pools (5 and 1 respectively) that you recharge faster by hitting opponents. This would encourage playing more into her half-zoning playstyle, and also reflect how they function in her series more closely, being powerful but limited resources that you gain back by attacking enemies and projectiles. Some other ideas I had include giving her the slide from Dread as a gap-closing DTilt, and replacing her grab pummel with... well I won't mention it for spoiler reasons but those who have played Dread probably know what I'm referring to. This episode actually had quite a few similarities to my own ideas I've had on a document for a Samus rework. FTilt, BAir, and UAir staying the same, DAir being an explosive arm cannon thrust, a pinning point-blank shot for her DThrow, even the NSpecial and DSpecial near 1-1. Great minds think alike I guess lol.
I think this was well thought-out! It would be great to see Samus's moveset get a redesign considering how much her Smash and main series iterations have diverged, and this hits a lot of the beats that would be familiar to someone who's played Dread. If I were to update her moveset, I would give her 5 jumps, similar to Kirby, but the last 3 jumps have the screw attack active. Her neutral air could stay as-is. That's sort of how it already works in Prime 2, though it would be more vertical than horizontal. Also, Final Smash should definitely be the thing she did at the end of Dread. And I want Raven Beak in Smash.
Great job! I love how it turned out in the end. Seeing as quite a lot of people mentioned flash shift as dodge, I'll skip it. However there are two things I would add. First I'd add ball spark. You could shave a few start up frames comparing to the normal version, as in Dread speedrun, in speedbooster tutorial, it saves a little bit of time. And Metroid is known as one of THE speedgames. Then second, I'd like to include slide. I think it was one of the most suprising elements of Dread, but its hard to incorporate it into the moveset without overcrowding it. There already is crawling in Smash, so maybe slide wouldn't be too much. Though there is also an idea to add it to the dash turnaround animation with lowered hitbox! Looking foreward to more of this!
DEFINITELY a series I’d love to see more of if you had the inspiration for it. Everybody talks about Ganon and Sonic (for good reason, and either of those would also be great), but there’s still less discussed characters like Mario, Link, Kirby, Bowser, and obviously Samus, among others. Great video!
That sounds like an awesome rework! The only thing I’d change would be the final smash. Instead of the omega cannon, it would be *MAJOR DREAD SPOILERS* The Metroid suit. Basically is the same as her old final smash, but she transforms when she shoots and it’s a red beam like in the game.
I really liked what you did with Samus, think you can do it for our blue blur? Sonic Frontiers showed us new stuff like abilities, combat, and more but it’s still on development probably
Ultimate is the omega cannon and machine gun thing it starts with the minigun and then a big blast and if u hold down b it can summon alot more bombs and side special is dash attack in metroid dread b is the omega canon (chargeable and it does less damage) And Metroid suit and the blue suit and grap is the grap she uses in metroid dread (the one she used to absorb raven)
This is the rework that Samus needs. Literally the only thing I'd add to this is giving Samus the ability to crawl via her Morph Ball since that's a staple in her kit.
The only thing I'd change for Samus' final smash is that I would make the Charge shot only stun and then add an additional shot where she briefly enters her Metroid form and blast the opponent one last time with the hyper beam to finish them, dealing massive knockback and outright obliterating enemies over 100%
Something you could add to this new moveset is to charge with the attack button in morph ball to use cross bombs as well! Overall an amazing redesign, to bad we aren't going to see this in action any time soon because why do people think we're getting another smash game?
I like your video, but I don’t think too much of this will actually make it into the next Smash, as all of these tweaks would make it hard to balance fairly against all of the other champions in the roaster. Effectively, the devs would have to rebalance everything from scratch, which I’m sure they wouldn’t be too thrilled about, given the roster-size, which is prolly why they haven’t changed much about the characters since Smash Melee, only adding new things when they think it will be a big selling point. (The Smash Token and Zero Suit Samus come to mind). Making any fighting game BALANCED is enormous work, and multiplies with every new champion they add, which as of Smash Ultimate, is enormous. But I very much liked your video, and believe that your ideas worth merit. I just don’t think it’ll happen.
I think the costumes should have 3 designs, classic, fusion, dread with 4 colours each with modern-power/blue , classic power suit/yellow (modified shoulders for classic suit green for fusion style) , varia/orange (with basket ball shoulders if classic) , gravity purple (same shoulders as varia if classic)
this is absolutely perfect and so cool. the one thing id add is some way to use power bombs, either somehow incorporated into her final smash or a less powerful version of them as a charged alt of the bombs in morph ball form
i feel like down tilt couldve been the slide and pressing A again does the leg sweep melee counter from dread (kinda like bayonetta side b) dodging would visually reference flash shift, but otherwise works the same as other fighters and her throw animations could reference the emmi parry where she pushes it away and does a roundhouse kick also shes gotta have a taunt/victory pose where she does the pose after absorbing the chozo warriors late game finally her final smash which (SPOILERS BELOW) it could be like a ryu situation where she either fires hyper beam while donning her metroid suit, or absorbs an enemy's health by lunging at them when theyre closeby, killing them at 100% or more otherwise good stuff, samus rlly needs a rework LOL
This was a wonderful video! As someone who really hopes veteran fighters get retooled kits in the next Smash game (and as a huge Dread fan), I loved watching it!! I hope you'll do more! Personally I'd love it if you retooled Sonic's who has had a bit of a laughably uninspired moveset for quite some time...
I like these ideas a lot.... EXCEPT 3 things 1- the huge recycle of the melee counter idea (and difusion beam too to an extend) 2- the final smash, making it be the actualy hyper beam would be cooler 3- the charge shot jump, that sounds bullshit
Maybe for her final smash she could flash shift into an opponent grab them drain some health then she turns into her metroid suit and shoots the hyper beam.
i dont know if i should like the screw attack nair because it is one of her most powerful abilities and should most likely be a kill move, like her back and up air they dont use her gun why, like give her mii gunner up air and a turn around shoot back air way cooler in my opinion, for down air that is not how her gun works just make her shoot straight down to cover landings way more interesting idea in my opinion. I love her Fair a lot and seeing that replced makes me sad, the melee counter could be nair & the charge shot mechanic could be like how Mega Man does it in MvC by holding down an attack button and then releasing it. For morphball i think we can expand on that idea a bit more by giving her one more unique special tied to it like the Boost ball as a side special, pressing down special morphing her back to normal and up special being shinesparking while in morphball, by making it have less air acceleration but more ground speed i think we can better represent it. I've been thinking about the weight of Samus, it doesn't make sense she can't take a lot of hits before getting knocked out she should be at below 100 units but close to it *Spoiler Warning* for the final smash Id like the idea that when in a time match in the last minute, a stock match on last life, and in stamina at like 20% HP she would take on the Metroid Suit at the ending of the game with its crazy red and black hyper beam attack. (I tink its funny how her up tilt in Ult has been referenced by raven beak)
As much as I like her final smash, just imagine it as an animation displaying all of her upgrades and abilities would be awesome, she could Ragnarok you with the speedbooster/shinespark, power bomb you up and screw attack through you before unleashing the hyper beam or something
@@waffleman8053 I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
@Delzethin I love the concept. The only thing I would change is having the Smash Ball power her up to Metroid form and give her two form-specific abilities. One, a rapid gap-closer that is based on the grab, which has her drain her targets, increasing their damage while healing hers for a significant chunk. And the ender, well... the fancy dandy hyper beam sounds GREAT to me! Blasts a huge area on the screen and massively increases damage %. Anyone over 120 is toast. Anyone under is pretty well locked into it until she's done. Last jaunt of the beam pushes and confirms kills. The same animation length for her old super-beam is ideal, but it also seems scarier coming from a Samus who has given in to her newfound "galactic predator" powers. Either or works for me. Both sound cool.
Loved this video! A really good balance and if I feel if they were to overhaul this, they could keep purists happy by leaving Dark Samus as she is, a clone of an older Samus. As for other characters, I'd love to see you cover Donkey Kong, whose moveset was entirely invented for Smash, so much so that modern DK games have drawn inspo from it, and yet it doesn't feature barrels, climbing or any of the abilities from his actual games.
This is an inspired moveset and I love it. One thing I'd like to add though is maybe if we wanna buff Samus's recovery even further we could incorporate the Flash-Shift into it as well? We could make it so tapping Up-B would send her to do a Flash-Shift in one of 8 directions, making her intangible for the duration but with shorter range, and have her able to use it three times in midair before going into freefall, but if she holds Up-B it'll become the Shine Spark, where it can only be used a single time before going into freefall, goes a longer distance and has a hitbox. For example, Samus could do Flash Shift, Flash Shift, Shine Spark to get the absolute maximum distance out of the move. I kinda also did this because I like the platforming challenges some people make in custom stages and I want Samus to be better at those.
dark samus actually would be a great way to preserve more of the old moves. I think basics and aerials would work well with its less composed nature, compared to samus. Specials really could use something new though. Prime 2 has it doing a move that's similar to incenaroar's up special, just with more control over the direction you're going. Neutral special could bring from prime 2 again, but combined with hyper mode in 3. Quick tap let's out a quick hyper beam that's faster than samus' shot (think fox and falco), but over all weaker and charge could instead be a barrage of short range shots (like in the first ds fight and/or hypermode charge shot). Charge ball from primes hasn't really had any representation in smash, and in one of the fights it does a microsoft pinball and zooms around the arena (though, probably should be different. Do we really want another eggroll). Side special I'm kinda torn, I've had this idea that it would be a hyper missile (faster and bigger range when hitting something, again weaker than what samus has in damage and knockback). But now that I'm looking at it, the new design is a lot more in your face. I'm not sure how well a hyper missiles would fit in the move set.
I think she definitely does need a rework but I don’t think this much should be focused on one game because it is new. I think leaving things that were in previous games should definitely be included instead of all being removed for dread. The blue energy beam I also think should actually stay but also have her freeze opponents. the morph ball though oddly slow in dread has previously been very fast like in the prime games which o think could fit a lot better. There are quite a few things I would switch from this to I think work better and just fit better though all of the Metroid games instead of just the new one just for being new.
Couple things that can be applied: Default appearance: Dread Varia Suit with Dread Power Suit, Gravity Suit and *Spoiler* Suit as alts, then take Prime Varia, Gravity, Phazon and Light suits as other alts. Down Smash: take the Diffusion Beam and strike the ground for 2 explosions to the sides. Neutral B: mash to shoot fast but not deal knockback (0.5% each, Fox blaster), hold for 0.5s for a small charge and little knockback (3%) and hold for 1.5s for a big charge with decent knockback (18%) can aim but not move. Side B: Samus uses the Storm Missiles (hold B button, slight up and down tilt) to aim at opponents up to 5 times and each target reticle means 3 missiles of 2.5% damage each and mild launch power, however, she cannot move at all so it's super risky. Down B: While in morph ball Samus can still jump and use her Up B via the Ballspark. Front Grab: Samus slams the opponents to the ground and delivers a charge shot to the face to send them flying.
I didn't know Norm McDonald had a UA-cam channel hahaha. Love this moves tho, I think the icing on the cake would be using her flash move as the air dodge, and possibly holding B in morph ball to do the cross bombs instead.
I was pretty disappointed when I saw Samus had NO changes to her move set or appearance. Besides Ridley finally being in smash, I was most hyped for a new Samus move set and appearance
I'd love to see more videos like this for veterans. Off the top of my head, I'd like to see your take on a more series faithful Wario (Land and Ware alike), or perhaps a revamped Toon Link that takes advantage of the fact that his games have unique equipment and weapons the other Links don't use in Smash.
I like the changes. This is part of the reason why I liked the idea of echo fighters. They're sideways versions of each other for now, but give ways to update characters while preserving old movesets. Dark Samus can continue doing old Samus things, and Samus can pull from new games. I know clones and semi clones can kind of be seen the same way, but semi clones like the Links and Spacies are already different enough to alienate people with changes. Whereas the Pits, Samuses, Princesses, have room to diverge. Kind of like how Doctor Mario preserves Melee Mario a little.
Honestly, this seems like a perfect rework for Samus. She’s been modernized well, while keeping part of her old Smash identity. THIS is how you retool an old fighter. Definitely wouldn’t complain about more of these types of videos.

One thing I'd really like to see from an updated Samus, use the Flash Shift for her roll animations (maybe even use Phantom Cloak for her spotdodge?)
I'd keep the morph ball since it represents her character better.
@@splashor6361 I mean the morph ball has already a whole move dedicated to it so why not reference something else?
@@RinZDR The flash shift wouldn't be as good of a roll anyway since it could only move you so far unlike in the game where it moves you quite a far distance.
@@splashor6361 I mean yeah true but even then the flash shift works way better as a “dodge” option, Im sure almost no one uses morph ball to dodge in metroid
@@RinZDR It works better as a dodge option but not as good of a roll imo.
An idea I had for Samus’ Final Smash is keeping it functionally like how it is currently with her Zero Laser, but with a catch.
[Spoiler for those who haven’t played Dread]
• Samus transforms her suit into the Metroid Suit and unleashes the Hyper Beam, now having a more pinkish-red color to it as opposed to blue.
An extension of the idea: She grapples onto a target in range and drain them to transform before unleashing the beam.
That's definitely what I thought the final smash should have been, I was pretty confused when he said Omega Canon
Was Rainbow colored in Super Metroid
"Don't, you'll drain the ship of its energy!"
@@minaminotaiyo6055 I like the sound of that!
This is an idea I saw mentioned elsewhere, but if Raven Beak were to make it in Smash, he'd be a good candidate for focusing on Aeion abilities.
@@ElTaitronAnim I could definitely see Raven Beak being a good test bed for Aeion Abilities in Smash
@@Delzethin I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
Considering how quality your past movesets have been, I'm looking forward to more of these. Ganondorf is a stupid obvious character to make a video on, but I'd also love to see Mewtwo, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Sonic, Zelda, Kirby, or Wario
bowser too. his moveset needs some serious modernization.
Mewtwo? No. NO!
Mewtwo?
In what way has his moveset become old?
Technically in Dreads files the hyper beam is called zerolaser
Since pressing up would exit Morph Ball, you wouldn't be able to use your up special with it.
@@fraudcakes I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
Been waiting for this one for a long time, and your take on a Samus moveset is incredible. You definitely should keep this as a side-series.
Honestly, this is amazing. Just the right number of old moves and updated new stuff. Also like the synergy and thought you put between the moves!
I think this rework would be neatly brought together with an additional Metroid Dread-style passive:
"After using one of her (Dread style) counters attacks successfully, Samus locks onto the target for a very short moment, making her next neutral special automatically aim at the opponent.”
Giving her the option to follow up with a guaranteed hitting neutral special.
Something like:
-Uncharged: quick three-shot followup, no knockback, hitstun, or launch power. Just tacks on some extra damage
-Charged: Heavy hit, possibly only kills at 1.25x ~ 1.5x what it would take normally (to make up for it being almost guaranteed to hit)
That's because Third party character have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters them being faithful to their games is optional.
Awesome closeout idea with the x parasite btw
@@rp-lopez It could be a big spoiler, but by the time the next smash game comes out, I think it will be past that time. I mean, stores are finally putting Grogu's name in merchandise. Just depends I suppose. And thank you! :)

Delzethin? More like Mr. Based and W. Samus desperately needs a Revamp. Nice.

Yes, please. If they had more time work with, maybe then people won't see them as clones. Hell, have Marth's custom moves as their regular moves.
They're not Roy/Chrom echoes. Roy and Marth are semi clones, and they're fine the way they are imo

I really like this setup! This is a series that has a ton of potential, even outside of movesets.
Nice, I guessed the subject. I'd love to see Jigglypuff or Ganondorf in this new series too
I wasn't expecting to kerp samus' old playstyle mostly in tact for this video, but once you explained all the moves it makes complete sense rather than making her closer to mega man like other ideas threw around. I'l love to see a modern take on Mario.
Her final smash should has turned her into her Metroid form so she can fire her really powerful beam that she has in that form it would be smaller but more powerful
Love that though I would also love the Metroid suit to be an alternate costume too.
This, but make the beam be a rainbow that ends in a steady red so that we get a Super Metroid reference.
This is awesome! I'd love to see you overhaul Ganondorf
For all the characters you've done.
this is honestly awesome. great this is great honestly a perfect representation of the modern metroid moveset
Really like this iteration of a fan move set. Really creative
(I would also change her up or side smash to a different beam, personally speaking.)
I'd also personally give her the Space Jump, either as her Up-B, or just as multiple jumps, but that's not a gripe as much as just a personal taste, I suppose.
I mean, if she gets a complete revamp, old players can just play Dark Samus
This would be an awesome series! There's so much potential to make these characters way better than Nintendo ever could
Superb! Really liking the blend of new and updated old here, especially the influences from _Dread_ and _Prime 3._ If you're taking requests for updated movesets; Ganondorf, Wario and Mewtwo would be great to see!

0:59 dont forget that they could also add the SA-X to replace the old samus like child link to adult link!
I feel like all of Samus's specials could be charge attacks.
Power Beam / Charge Beam
Missile / Super Missile (regular input); Chain Missile / Super Chain Missile (smash input)
Bomb / Cross Bomb / Power Bomb
Well, Prime 4 was just offically revealed
Samus needs an overhaul so badly, I’m talking like it wasn’t even up to date during the first smash or melee lol
This almost feels like Samus as an honorary spacie from Melee... I LOVE it!
If Zero Suit Samus ever gets cut, I want to see a compromise by giving her skins that lack her helmet.
Love how you added the shinespark into the moveset
Instead of the omega cannon, it would be
*MAJOR DREAD SPOILERS*
The Metroid suit. Basically is the same as her old final smash, but she transforms when she shoots and it’s a red beam like in the game.
Remake Young Link's moveset to make him more focused on Majora's Mask!
These ideas make sense!
Edit: An addition for the side special, you could let your finger on the button to charge some Storm Missiles!
I really liked what you did with Samus, think you can do it for our blue blur? Sonic Frontiers showed us new stuff like abilities, combat, and more but it’s still on development probably
Ultimate is the omega cannon and machine gun thing it starts with the minigun and then a big blast and if u hold down b it can summon alot more bombs and side special is dash attack in metroid dread b is the omega canon (chargeable and it does less damage)
And Metroid suit and the blue suit and grap is the grap she uses in metroid dread (the one she used to absorb raven)
This is the rework that Samus needs. Literally the only thing I'd add to this is giving Samus the ability to crawl via her Morph Ball since that's a staple in her kit.
This is a wonderful video and a wonderful video concept. I look forward to more!
1:43 Well, thats aged well.
The only thing I'd change for Samus' final smash is that I would make the Charge shot only stun and then add an additional shot where she briefly enters her Metroid form and blast the opponent one last time with the hyper beam to finish them, dealing massive knockback and outright obliterating enemies over 100%
This was really well done! I would totally love this to be a new series!
Something you could add to this new moveset is to charge with the attack button in morph ball to use cross bombs as well!
Overall an amazing redesign, to bad we aren't going to see this in action any time soon because
why do people think we're getting another smash game?
People think we will get a new smash game is because Smash makes a lot of money for Nintendo. They wouldn’t just stop doing them
I would be more than happy to see more videos like this!
I like to imagine that Storm missile can be the side special attack but charged
this is absolutely perfect and so cool. the one thing id add is some way to use power bombs, either somehow incorporated into her final smash or a less powerful version of them as a charged alt of the bombs in morph ball form
i feel like down tilt couldve been the slide and pressing A again does the leg sweep melee counter from dread (kinda like bayonetta side b)
dodging would visually reference flash shift, but otherwise works the same as other fighters
and her throw animations could reference the emmi parry where she pushes it away and does a roundhouse kick
also shes gotta have a taunt/victory pose where she does the pose after absorbing the chozo warriors late game
finally her final smash which (SPOILERS BELOW)
it could be like a ryu situation where she either fires hyper beam while donning her metroid suit, or absorbs an enemy's health by lunging at them when theyre closeby, killing them at 100% or more
otherwise good stuff, samus rlly needs a rework LOL
If this becomes a series, do either Ganondorf or Sonic next.
Very nice! I'd love to see more character reworks, or any of the other subjects you mentioned toward the end :)
EXCEPT 3 things
1- the huge recycle of the melee counter idea (and difusion beam too to an extend)
2- the final smash, making it be the actualy hyper beam would be cooler
3- the charge shot jump, that sounds bullshit
Yes! Please make this a new series! Remake old fighters' movesets, talk about new fighters, and DO ALL THE THINGS!
I've been thinking about the weight of Samus, it doesn't make sense she can't take a lot of hits before getting knocked out she should be at below 100 units but close to it
*Spoiler Warning*
for the final smash Id like the idea that when in a time match in the last minute, a stock match on last life, and in stamina at like 20% HP she would take on the Metroid Suit at the ending of the game with its crazy red and black hyper beam attack.
This is how you do a redesign. You take what's new and make it better.
(Tho ngl, I would miss her old forward air.)
Do you think the old Fair could work as a new BAir?
@@ricknaturalls2065 No. It would feel awkward as a bair.
@@ricknaturalls2065 Pluss I love her bair.
@@waffleman8053 I feel like 3rd party characters have to be faithful to their games. With Nintendo characters, Sakurai is allowed to take some liberties.
As a big time metroid fan and ex-Samus main.
I might cry from pure joy
This is perfect
Give her a back special while you're at it. There's already a precedent with Terry.
Keep these up!
As a Samus main I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS. No complaints or things to add. To me this is perfection!
Also would love Dark Samus to get her own unique moveset...
I really hope this is the path that future smash depictions take.
And i speak as a samus main in elite smash
Couple things that can be applied:
Default appearance: Dread Varia Suit with Dread Power Suit, Gravity Suit and *Spoiler* Suit as alts, then take Prime Varia, Gravity, Phazon and Light suits as other alts.
I hope you have enjoyed the new graphical details on the video :)
"If Ravenbeak (...) doesn't get added next game"
I...I wanted him for Smash and hadn't realized until that comment.
