Walt Disney took all his characters from the public domain, like most his ideas cast well. He revamped those other people's ideas and characters, made them his own, then, paid to practically shut down the use of others ideas and characters from the public domain so that no one could ever do it to his characters. What a great guy. And this story idea of buying things out and stopping others from doing the same goes with just about every old American dream story.
Love that they brought the original taco flavor back as a permanent flavor. I grew up in the 80s and it was a favorite of my dad and I. Like the plain. Salsa Verde, Nacho and cool ranch along with the ol taco flavors the best. Also loved the retro bag Design on the taco ones.
As a professional Video Editor I have to say your editing, sound, animations are all on point. A lot of big channels have their sound effects way too loud, yours have the perfect audio level. I wish you great success! ✌
At almost $5 dollars a bag , Doritos have competition with chips called Clancy's Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips at only $2.50 a bag , I can't tell the difference except for the Price .
Chilaquiles (fried tortilla chips mixed with scrambled egg and salsa) is a staple of Mexican breakfast, dating back to the Aztecs as the name chilaquiles is in Nahuatl.
I still remember the very first taco flavor bag of chips, that was the only flavor at the time.i was 6 years old.damn, those chips are still going strong....as far as my old tired a** ,well not quite as sturdy as a 55 year old Dorito chip
Nacho cheese was heaven when i first tasted it in 1972!! I'm certain all the new flavors are very good ,but i got to admit they are too addicting to have around anymore !! I do wish the would sell the flavors in a powder to use for seasoning !
OMG, the "ethymology" of the word Doritos couldn't be more wrong. "Dorado" is a point of frying where tortillas turn in color and that's the perfect point where you take the tortillas out of the oil. "Doradito" is a diminutive that is very often used in Mexican culture when refering to food ("Frijolitos", "Tamalitos", etc).
I just bought a bag of that Doritos taco flavor in Florida a week ago lol I came out to the car with it and said what the heck is this? My husband said this is probably the original Doritos.
@BuisnessStories Wow... How interesting. What a great story... Now I & I am sure tons of other people who have watched this interesting video are hungry for some Dorito's chips...
Cool story in all but he didn't come up with the name doritos. A tortilla dorada is when you fry the entire tortilla. Small pieces or chips have the diminutive "ito" at the end. Er go dorada > doritos
They put "plain" Doritos in his grave? Do they still make the plain toasted corn Doritos? I thought they stopped making those 40 years ago when they came out with Tostitos, which are not the same, made with white corn instead of yellow.
I call BS on the thought that he invented the word Dorito. When it clearly has been used in the spanish culture to mean crispy/golden hue when frying an item.
15 yrs ago, Frito-Lay in my area was advertising for maintenance mechanics, every 3 months or so. Bad Signs! Wound up with a job there (kinda forced). I loved the Cheeto's, right off the line, they encouraged "QC" checks😅. The management, though was what is now known as "woke". So, F-L leaves a bad taste with me these days!
I work in Construction. I'm left leaning. Everyone I work with is right wing, we have great conversations though they rarely agree. Weird how everyone needs to align politically to get along or respect each other.
I'm not sure about the origin story, in Mexico fried/baked tortillas have been around for literally hundreds of years, they are called "tostadas". So this guy might have invented the small triangle shape, but he definitely not invent frying or baking tortillas (nor the other lady). And I have to say even the triangle shape can be disputed, though granted that can be an independent invention by different people.

I remember when Nacho Cheese flavor came out in NY. I was hooked.
I found out that Doritos are as old as I am . both they and myself were born in 1964 😀
Happy Dorito to me! 😂

Nah. The one I grew up with was the taco bell collab. The remake kinda sucks. The salsa Verde ain't bad but not as good as the 90s.
Man that's great.
I learned that he could have made billions of dollars by not trying to convince the company to make them. He should have just made them himself
I'm 50 years old and have never seen plain Doritos.
As a professional Video Editor I have to say your editing, sound, animations are all on point. A lot of big channels have their sound effects way too loud, yours have the perfect audio level. I wish you great success! ✌
I appreciate it!
They make most of their money selling air.
At almost $5 dollars a bag ,

True there bag not even half full frito lays are a scam joke

I'm surprised Disney world didn't try to get a cut of the invention.
Wow really interesting video. I love videos/stories like this. Esspecially cuz i f*****g love Doritos. I had to subscribe 😁👍
Good content. Dallas Texas raised since 1957. 😎👍🏻💯
The moral of the story is: If you come up with a big money making idea, don't tell anyone. Make it yourself.
I feel like I am listening to a book report that could have been told in 500 words or less but the teacher demanded a ten thousand word minimum
Late night cheeseburger was phenomenal!!!!
I still remember the very first taco flavor bag of chips, that was the only flavor at the time.i was 6 years old.damn, those chips are still going strong....as far as my old tired a** ,well not quite as sturdy as a 55 year old Dorito chip
The taco flavor is still my favorite !
They sell out in a day where I live in Plano Texas. Can be hard to find. 😎👍🏻💯
Like the old saying...Another mans trash,is another mans treasure.
I honestly think I could live off of only Nacho Cheese Doritos...but no olestra please!!!!!! I don't want to relive those after affects ever again.
Nacho Cheese is my favorite flavor of Doritos 😊
I wish I would had this 2 weeks ago to share with a friend before a small toaster fire happened 😂
So much great history
What I miss is barbecue fritos
What a great story!
I like how it’s snowing in every scene of this video.
Nacho cheese was heaven when i first tasted it in 1972!! I'm certain all the new flavors are very good ,but i got to admit they are too addicting to have around anymore !! I do wish the would sell the flavors in a powder to use for seasoning !
I think they do, try amazing
Dem Nacho cheese are banging!
Arch looks like the actor Albert Finney.
didnt know there was a plain flavor makes sense that he liked them cuz he was the maker
Can't wait for this channel to blow up 🔥
I would love to see the ingredients list from the 1960's compared to today
Bring back the regular corn
I love the purple bag spicy sweet chilly flaver....😀😀😀😀😀❤❤

Of course Disney was involved with Doritos
What a savvy salesman.
Munching on it while I watch 😅

why does this video only have 6 likes.
Commercials every 5 min. Ouch. Taxed to max.
@BuisnessStories Wow... How interesting. What a great story... Now I & I am sure tons of other people who have watched this interesting video are hungry for some Dorito's chips...
I love doritos
The agreement was she had to give up her rights b4 they would select him.
Just don’t be like bud light and Doritos well remain on top
Hope he was well compensated for his idea & invention
good ol nutrition
Unfortunately these chips are bad for your health.
Interesting
It means little toasty gold things.
Like el Dorado.
Not because he felt like it.
I don’t eat them, but they are a great fire starter. They burn like hell
Yeppers, it's true. And Fritos corn chips as well, but I'd rather eat them and just use paper to start my fires. 😎👍🏻💯
I doubt that the name came from the Spanish word for Gold (“Oro”) but rather for the one for golden (“dorado”), it makes a lot more sense.
Cool story in all but he didn't come up with the name doritos. A tortilla dorada is when you fry the entire tortilla. Small pieces or chips have the diminutive "ito" at the end. Er go dorada > doritos
Teach the truth. MSG saved the dorito and their brand probably.
I gained 60lbs. from eating them, and oh, contracted diabetes too.
That's on you!😊
@@brucelytle1144 That's on me? Yeah, my fault.
They put "plain" Doritos in his grave? Do they still make the plain toasted corn Doritos? I thought they stopped making those 40 years ago when they came out with Tostitos, which are not the same, made with white corn instead of yellow.
The original nacho cheese Tostitos.
Dorado means golden in Spanish
I call BS on the thought that he invented the word Dorito. When it clearly has been used in the spanish culture to mean crispy/golden hue when frying an item.
Doritos is not made of literal garbage. I smell bs. It’s a Mexican chip

No there actually called Doritos too
You obviously didn’t watch the who thing, they said deep fried corn tortillas had been around 100s of years.
I like Doritos but they give you Dragon breath 😂
Everything you said about Doritos chips is a lie. Fake internet history.
