Great job on the video, as usual. Your content is on point!!!! Makes me miss my XR. I have a v4 Streetfighter and I know in my bones I could not keep up with you guys on that road. Stay safe!
This was a super enjoyable ride with one of the guys I've messaged with for quite some time but had never met; you can find him on Instragram @dmvisleofman.
This is basically the perfect motovlog. Good audio, amazing road and scenery, fast/smooth riding (how it should be done, rather than all the jackassery you see sometimes), etc. This road looks familiar, is it the tail of the dragon? I need to ride there sometime. Thank you for sharing.
As you might now I now have that GT as replacement to my XR, It is definitely more capable, but the XR is probably better rounded as a general bike, both are insane for what they are tho. Nice riding as always!
@cubanrider Man i watch your chanel for a while ...love it ... I have a dilema ...bmw s 1000xr 2019 or s 1000xr 2021 ?....what would the cuban rider do ? Thank you anticipated.
Road was dry, I just lean on the TC a lot, leaving dark streaks of rubber down the road. Realistically the bike is too heavy for this type of riding; the way it delivers its power, it's more suited for longer turns, there it works beautifully. The KTM works better due to how the torque comes on so early, it pulls the bike off the corner beautifully.
Hey Cuban - great ride! I gave a 2022 superduke R, with the full akra system and it is a riot. I am thinking of the Michelin power cup gp or power cup 2 for the summer and the road 6 for the colder winter conditions in the UK - what do you think? I got the soft luggage with the bike and the slim line tank bag. It makes a great sports tourer. You can ride to the track with your tent and camping stuff, do your trackday and then carry on touring. I love it. No fairing helps me not to be a dick on our motorways; even my current twin cylinder track bike (rsv1000rr), will see me cruising at over 100 and I need my license intact! Keep up the good work.
James that's a great combo. The Michelin pricing used to be very competitive, the Cup 2 were the cheapest of the super sticky tires, but they've all gone up. I found myself switching to Continental to save some money on tires, but if price is similar, the Cup 2 or even Cup GP are great. Of course their Road series is the best you can have in wet and colder conditions, so that's an easy choice.
Extremely quick pace and really high quality riding. Everyone is a critic but few could likely hang with you guys. That said, the KTM really pulled off the corners. Do you @CubanRider know if these bikes have stock gearing or no?
@@CubanRider Yeah, I've actually just finished the video. All kidding aside, I'm not just engaging in flattery, you guys were hauling butt. Have you, yourself, ever seen a quicker rider on an XR?
Depending on mileage, under 18,000 miles, make sure it received regular oil changes. After 18k, check that the valves got adjusted, brake pads, and no weird issues. Otherwise these bikes are super durable. My other S1000XR sitting in the garage waiting to be fixed has been tuned since new and has done plenty of track days, and at 15k miles, still rides like new.
Your video footage is great, without this motion blur that brings an unrealistic sense of speed. Good pace on this video! Did you guys consider doing the Dragon in 3rd gear and not 2nd? Too much power loss?
I've personally ridden with the guy in front. If you guys really think his bp makes him slow. Or his prevé looks slow. Hit him up and go on one of his rides follow him. Like all the others you'll end up in a ditch or off the side of a mountain or just get left so far behind you'll go home. Remember videos don't do real riders justice. Cinematic videos and movies have the perfect angles to make it look fast. This guy and you might think I'm slow too but like i said ride with him and you'll see some amazing things IF you don't get hurt and you can keep up.
Something I've learned is that looking fast ≠ going fast. The KTM rider can ride, knee down or not. He's not even a local and his lines are great. I've seen many riders with bp like a racer, but when I follow them the pace is not there. There are others that don't even bother to stick their knee out, but have a blistering pace, such is the case of the local old timer who was following us on a Streetfighter (he didn't want to be on video). Most of these really fast guys are locals, have this mountain dialed in, so I really discourage people that are visiting to try to keep up with those guys.
Two great riders who know where the limit is and kept it safe with the smoothness of the ride, another great vid CR, i ride the SDR 1290 but i dont think i would keep pace with you on the dragon, i might consider an RS11 on the back though instead of the S22, would it be worth the change, i dont know
The S22 is great, one of the best street tires. The RS11 gives you that extra dry grip and confidence at the expense of durability, both phenomenal tires that I'm happy to recommend to spirited riders.
I haven’t ridden the RS11, but I’ll second the author’s comment on the S22. They’re OEM on my SDR EVO and they’re excellent. I often change tires way before they’re worn, if I don’t like them. I’ll use these S22 til they’re done. And that’s on a very torquey bike. Plenty, plenty good. I’m impressed.
How do you get yours to power wheelie so much, my 2016 is Bren tuned with stacks and barely does it in Dynamic. Are you just in Dynamic Pro or is anything disabled? Are you clutch-upping?
@@CubanRider race attack!!! Cool. Not sure those would work for me in the Pacific Northwest but I like how that sounds. Update when you get a good feel for them please
I noticed ergonomically, there is almost zero difference between the GT and the superduke, so I went with the superduke. 50 lbs less and probably different fueling.
And then there are times I think I’d like to have an SDGT in addition to SDR, for longer, higher speed days. The SAS is a fine sport tourer but I’d like to see about an SDGT. Just to know what it’s like on a longer, high mileage day. I do think the bars on the SDGT aren’t much different from SDR, agreed.
@@Supernova12034 So it would basically come down to wind protection. I've owned two SDRs, and currently ride an EVO. They're very comfortable except for sustained speeds over about 80 mph. I am all-day-comfortable (1100 miles is my biggest day) on my 1290 SAS. I would guess the SDGT isn't quite that sit-up comfortable, but beating off the head wind is a major player in energy conservation, and there's no beating the additional power of the SDR/GT. All interesting considerations.
It's on dynamic pro, least intrusive, anything less and you'd have to turn TC off. You could argue the bike is too big and heavy for this kind of road, TC works great otherwise.
Where are you from? This road and most canyon carving videos you see in the US are out in the sticks. Not enough staffing in the world to cover all these areas with officers. They stay close to towns where the calls for service are.
Oh other side of the big pond. Things here are at a much smaller scale and police coverage is probably much easier to manage then in the US. I just thought such a popular road with equally frequent speeding offenders would attract them more.
The dude you're following is quite bad at body position. At the point shown, it's a bit pointless, might as well just save some energy, or better yet, practice the elements incrementally so he gets better.
If he gets proper body position, people will critique him for hanging the head over the yellow line. This is actually good body position for this road, you're shifting weight to the inside while keeping your head up for better visibility. He's also quicker than most of the riders you'll find on this road, regardless of bike.
@@CubanRider I mean, very valid, being crossed up does maximize on visibility, although it has its downsides. Point was bp is exaggerated, which contributes to said downsides. Quickness wasn't the point really, you can achieve mostly identical pace while not moving much if at all.
Great run! His exit speed is crazy shoots out with all that torque. Awsome vid very skilled riders as usual

I was leaning with you in the XR, amazing vídeo!!! GG
A properly tuned super Duke has the most grunt out of the any super naked, I believe. My super duke r is just a crazy torque monster.
Its by far the most fun. I owned a tuono, couldnt sell it fast enough. Very capable weapon, but nowhere near as fun as the KTM.

@@CubanRider certainly there’s that! 🤣☝🏻😎
Solid run from both of you! But the ktm just had more power. Thats all it was. Keep the videos comin man!
That was a fun watch. Clean lines, stayed in your lane but for one dodgy looking section. That road would be a blast on a super moto.
Great riding Buddie! Be safe out there!
Amazing work as always. The torque in the KTM is formidable. I love the song of the inline-four though. "I just like it." XD
