The shutter walls might be better for the top floor. To get the doorway on the 2nd floor to face the correct direction, try placing it and the wall next to it that is also backward after placing all the other walls and do it while standing inside that room. If that doesn't work take the end wall off, attach a ladder down to it then a foundation to that ladder. This should allow you to remove framed ladder. Then put the doorway and wall up facing the way you want. Next put the framed ladder back and you should be able to remove the temporary ladder and foundation. In case this is confusing I'll go make a video replicating what you did here with what I'm taking about. That pile of logs is for a resource extractor found in the resources tab and everyone can build all the extractors, except the fertilizer maker (the hay with the wheelbarrow), the others just aren't on the list unless their resource is in the build area of the camp or workshop.
YAY!!! The majestic Wasteland Dovahkiin in her natural habit! Lets all watch her splendor as she creates a magnificent shelter from a few splinters of wood that she scavenged from off the ground and some scrap bits of whatever the hell she could find. XD It's so good to see you building again. I believe you have to put a wall under the doorframe to place a door but you can remove it afterwards. Also, if you put a floor on the outside edge of the stairs, you can snap a wall to that facing the way you want then snap onto that wall. 76 gets crazy finicky sometimes, try standing in a different spot too, that usually works for me.
You can snap another metal stairway using those metal pillars. Place the first, then add pillar and it'll snap. You usually need to be on ground level for it to work, something probably about distance. Careful, if you mess it up you'll have to redo the whole structure. But it makes for good multiple floors.
First let me say great video. Couple things I noticed that will help. Walls with doors must snap to a 2x2 floor piece it will not snap to a 1x2. If you add a stair case you can add the post's you want after the next floor is up. As you level up you you need to move your camp every 10 or so levels. Even if it's one foot to the right. Your build budget increases as you level but only when you move your camp. You could add the wood barricade walls if the floor piece was a 2x2 floor. Those stupid 1x2 floors mess up a lot of builds.
If you're wondering where the defense barricades and stuff came from the first time you take a public Workshop you get pretty much everything in the defenses to unlocked a barricade I think the only thing you don't unlock is the raid siren
THE PLACE THAT YOU WANT TO PUT A DOOR Grab the door way wall from the inside and flip it around so it snaps to the solid flood instead of the staircase floor and you should be able to place a door and it'll look better because the walls will be the right way around. Hope this helps!
@@WastelandDovahkiin are you able to place a solid floor there first, place the door and then replace the solid floor with the stairs and floor? I had a similar issue with the short defence railings and this fixed it.
I would change the door frames to the half walls place them to make a full wall then take away the bottom of it but keep the door frame where the stairs are then place on the bottom half the perimeter wall railing
Re the door re move the stairs but place a wall below to hold the floors and then stand on the wood floors and place the wall. This will put it the right way. Then replace the stairs . A pain but it should work. 😁
Looks great! Gives me some ideas for what to build when I start doing more. Quick thought on the door fitting the wrong way: Have you tried building another floor section (or two) out to the side of that level and try to snap a wall correctly, then the door frame to that? Alternatively, have you tried putting the upper floor walls in the correct way first, then trying to put in the lower floors? I noticed the upper floors would only snap backwards when you put those on, so maybe you can "trick" the system into letting you snap them the right way around?
I've done it that way, but you have to have a ladder going to the upper floor otherwise it won't let you leave the upper floors hanging, but it is doable.
@@1008Raven No, flipping it doesn't work. However, some people have given me a few suggestions that I'm going to try. Might make another video with a new and improved version of this build.
Hi, thanks I like it. It blends in and I don't think you went too crazy with plans (for new players). I think I might move house, you instigated change. I have a single storey 4x3 with the two centre blocks as bare dirt. It's lavish but a pretty boring build and they patched in some flexibility. Still haven't been attacked but I'm hoping for electrical doors from R.N.Jesus this xmas. A player didn't wave back today though, not sure if he's the first of many? I hit him in the face with Grognak's axe, not sure what came over me. As for "rolling with it", I'm level 102, experienced pretty much everything and have unlocked a lot of plans (very few are bought). If you ignore the Bethesda angle and focus on the '76 angle, it's pretty enjoyable. Just be sure to wave :)
I had this problem. The walls doorway and door is caused by the 1st level stair frame wall dont conect to it ( Note: floors must be conected or have a conection path to stairs walls will only conect to floor not to stair frame) A way to fix this is to build stair on foundation. However you will then have an issue with no walkway on a 4x4 as you cant place stairs in the middle of the foundation to get a walk way its fixable see below or just build 1/2 floors to make walkway. 1. on front area of your 4x4 foundation place stairs facing in. place large floor to stairs 2. then over the area you want stairs place 1/2 floor end on (might have to place large half on 1st floor then 1/2 floor if so remove large after 1/2 one) 3. place stairs on 1/2 floor (real tricky might have to place a wall but it can be done) then remove 1st stairs complete build Note to get walkway on 2nd story use 1/2 floors either to left or right to extend floor. Stairs to 3rd floor might be a problem. Shutter windows would be better for sniper nest to shoot out of I do it all the time. However I have gone to a single foundation build with all items in 2nd (or 3rd) floor as it easy to move. A 4x4 foundation 90% of the time wont place. Might now be better with the bulldozer fix. But great Vid nice to see you back in 76 BTW you built all parts again and did not use STORED items go to the stored tab to use them
Nice to see a build video, it's been awhile. I have a side note, have you figured out how to snap wind chimes on. So many things I tried but can't get them to snap on anything.
Just wondering where you built this? I like to build first time the same place then take what i have learnt elsewhere. May use elements of fallout 4 builds into this one. Lets hope they increase the build size at some point because it really, really does suck. I do love your work and have built many things in fallout 4 using stuff you have done. Defo gonna try and build a 'abernathyville gaurd post' in fallout 76 😁
11:20. I tried scaling the outside of the wall. Awkwardly rubbing my characters body against it and walking back and forth until the door just snapped into the doorframe if that helps at all 🤷🏽♂️
in fallout 4, you can use the walls to snap the roofs on, then scrap the walls and put in the post you want and railings. Does that not work for Fallout 76? Also this gives me some ideas for my settlements in fallout 4. Thanks.
Can you actually do that? Every time I try to remove something that's under something else it tells me I can't do that, lol. I guess I just assumed I couldn't do that with the roof too.
You can have roofs supported by posts, if you put the roof ends in, then floors as ceilings you can remove the walls and put posts in. Got the idea from cordless vii, to build a porch.
I want to be honest because honesty is a sign of respect: this is not a nice build... you can do so much better than this as you've proven time and time again. I look forward to something more elaborate like I know you can do.
Thank you for your honesty. To be honest right back, I haven't played the game enough to make nice builds. The character I made during the beta is only level 23. I've played maybe twice since Thanksgiving, and one of those times was to make this video. I haven't had time to get to know the build system much at all, or to collect the plans to make better stuff. It's been very frustrating. So I did the best I could with where I'm at right now, although I'm not happy with it. A few nice viewers have given some great suggestions on how to improve this build, so I think I'll probably make a video with a new and improved version. And after the Holidays are over I'll hopefully have more time to make up some better builds. I hope you stay tuned for those.

Answer No Everything you know about building in FO4 forget it 99.9% will not work in FO76
To be more elaborate, the roof wouldn't let you removed the walls, as it claims to need the walls for support and will stop you from removing them.
Does the door have to be on the ground? 🤔
"The posts aren't considered support"
Good grief.
Btw I _think_ the military barricade comes along with a bunch of other defensive structures the first time you take over a public workshop.
