    I always look forward to visiting Mobile because they have so many great places to eat. Just reminding myself to lose a few more pounds before I visit. Beignets, popcorn roasted peanuts, fried oysters, hear I come.

    I remember Wintzell's as a kid in Mobile in the 60's-notably 1961-1969 and when I went back in 1980. I also went back for a wedding and this restaurant was on the weekend menu for the wedding. I sure do miss Mobile! My Dad had the "HAIMAN" building down on Airport Blvd. Is it still there? Tugs at my heartstrings!💗

    Mobile is a food desert. You would think being so close to New Orleans that food would be the focus, but now the only place to get good food is across the bay.

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  Рік тому +2

      I must strongly disagree. There are lots of great options in downtown Mobile. Often, people who live across the bay drive to downtown Mobile to get great food. I do know however, there are some great places on the eastern shore, though. That is for sure.

      @@livinginmobile This is encouraging. I will remain optimistic then. I've just had so many mediocre or disappointing meals in places that seem promising. I don't even know where to look for Italian food, for example.

      New Orleans is about four times the size of Mobile. I think it holds its own when comparing the size.

    • @nola3058
      @nola3058 Рік тому +1

      Mobile has New Orleans to thank for the Ruby Slipper, Ruth's Chris (steak house) and Popeyes (fried chicken) restaurants and not to mention some of those elaborate mardi gras floats from Blaine Kern studios, Royal Artist float builders and the statues at mardi gras park, c'est tout! ⚜️⚜️⚜️
