- Behringer has released Firmware V4 for the X32. This update brings some amazing features like 1 to 1 patching but also changes the look of the menu structure. I am putting out a full new series of training videos specifically on version 4 firmware! This is the third video in the series and is an overview of the routing section of the Behringer X32 where you will route all of the inputs and outputs to and from your console.
If you are looking for the 1-to-1 User Routing, you will want to navigate to this video which is dedicated to the new User Routing released with the version 4 firmware: • X32 Firmware V4 | 301 ...
Keep an eye out for more videos coming shortly and make sure to check out my blog at www.dbbaudio.com for more free training and tutorials.

Hi, Drew. This is so great. I kept reloading your page all week waiting for the next videos..
Awesome, thank you!
You are a wizard, my friend! Every one of your videos helps me understand behringer more and more. It’s very different from Yamaha but it’s what our church has. So we roll with it! Thanks again, Drew! 🙌👏
Kudos to you once again. When I first was learning everybody told everybody to watch your videos and not to be mean but they just confused me because your knowledge of the board was so great it seemed you dived in too deep for somebody that was a beginner. But this new series if a beginner was to watch , is going to get a much better tutorial and should learn as you seem to be doing these videos from a beginner standpoint. I know how to work my x32 but I’m still watching your new videos and enjoying them knowing many people will learn directly from them. Thanks for basically starting over and doing such a great job
Thanks so much for mentioning this. It was my goal for this new series to really slow down and teach for the beginner to learn this. As the videos progress, they will get harder in difficulty for sure, but I'm happy to finally have them in one well thought out playlist! Thanks for continuing to watch the videos!
THANK YOU!! I was having a devil of a time trying to figure out how to send my mix bus to the monitors. The poor guy at Sweetwater wasn't even sure. Watched this and had it had it fixed in about 10 seconds.
This was the most clear and concise video for most of my questions over the last few years. Well done. 👏🏽
I really enjoy your explanation
DB.. the king of X32!!! Cheers, lucius
Great stuff brother thanks....Joe from Staten Island
It would be excellent to have a tutorial where wiring connections and various settings/routings are made, with the corresponding outputs. Otherwise what the viewer imagines may not match reality.
Thanks for the video. Could you do a video on Pre Fader / Post Fader locations and the importance of correct settings?
I worked a show recently where the sends for two of the outputs were in Post Fader despite the configuration showing Pre. Problem sorted but I had to dig deep into channel settings.
You say to use Pre-fader for the P-16 setup so moving fader won't affect P16 volume, but post fader for floor monitors. Shouldn't those also be pre-fader?
little confusing that User in can be used for XLR outputs as shown in 6:27
I have the same setup, how do I route my Aux from FOh to my 2nd x32?
How do you route your mains through the stage box? I have a x32 compact and a s16 stage box
Hi Drew, question about the Play/Rec setting at the bottom left part of the screen on the Input page (0:12 - 0:16). What is this used for? Is it just effectively an A/B input configuration for the board? I have always loved your videos on X32 and just mixing in general. They've taught our church volunteers how to use the console very well. Thanks for what you do!
What I do with this function is have it set for quick switch of recording whats in the board and playing back through the board what I recorded in my daw. (DIFFERENT USE THAN THE DAW REMOTE FUNCTION). If I am recording In (let's say) logic, on the record setting, all of my channel processing on the board is set to local 1-32. This allows for logic to record each individual channel, whereas my settings in logic are set with inputs 1-32 on tracks 1-32... Now back to the board, if I rotate to the play option and click the knob, all of the channel processing there is set to Card 1-32. Inside of logic each individual track in logic has its output set to "mono" Output 1-32. So anything I play in logic at this point will play through each individual channel on the board and can be mixed on the board and heard through the house. HOPE THAT HELPED AND WASN'T CONFUSING...
Is there any way you can help me? Do you do calls? Or anything? I am stuck.
I have a dl16 connected working great. I cannot route the dl12 outputs.
Not sure what else to try.
What would be the best way to use 2 x DL32s with the Midas M32? Could I for example use all of the outputs on both stage boxes to get a max of 32 outputs?
Thank you for this very helpful video. I have a question that might push the x32 ecosystem too far, but here goes: I imagine a system where there is an x32 rack with an s16 at monitors (Say s16 connected AES50-A to AES50-A with x32 Rack for a standard 32 stage ins) and an x32 at FOH (connected by the x32 AES50-A port/x32 Rack AES50-B port). Suppose I patched the FOH x32's outs 1-16 to AES50-A outs 33-48 and on the Monitors x32 Rack User Outputs 33-48 to AES50-B 33-48. Could I then connect say a Midas DN4816-O to the Ultranet port of the monitors x32 Rack to output the FOH x32's outs 1-16?
I'm a bit unsure about setting AES outputs to 'Local 1-8'. As an example, If I set input 1-8 to 'Local 1-8' and AES output 17-24 to 'Local 1-8' does this mean that output 17 on my AES stagebox would essentially serve as a direct "loopout" for Local input 1? or is it processed by Channel 1 first? In other words, is this how you might send raw input to a Mons console? Thank you for clarifying.
How do I record instrumentals, vocals for verses and choruses on individual tracks for a song?
Thank you for explaining the new update features, very helpful. But where can you determine the two signals going out of the card via USB if you want to steam a signal with a streaming program on the laptop for example?
Hi Drew.Thank you so much for all your tutorial video.I have a question.I have a Behringer X32 rack with two S16 plugged into it in cascade.I use almost all 48 physical input (Local 1 thru 16 from X32 rack) and 32 physical inputs from the other two S16.I would like to know if there's a way to hear and mix all together. The X32Mix App lets you hear only 32 inputs at the time unless i switch in the routing section. When i switch in the routing section, then it cuts off the other S16.What am i doing wrong? Thank you
A lot of people connect X32 with two S16, unfortunately you didnt present routing for this common situation. Could you or someone leave a comment how to setup the routing? Thanks
Thank you Roman.I have the exact same problem.I have a X32 rack and two
S16 and can only hear or mix 32 input at the time without switching in the routing section.Hopefully Drew can help us on this matter
Question: on the compact and producer you mentioned there is an asterisk next to outputs 9-16. Can you use those outputs if a stage box is connected via AES50 or are you limited to 8 outs to share? Thanks so much! Really appreciate the content!!!
I second this question, if there is an answer to it, please share it! Looking forward to a response 🙏🏼
How does the Rec / Play function work on the input menu of routing? Is that a way to easily swap between two routing sets?
Anyone have any insight in how to route what is going to my mains (LR) also to an Aux1 out? The church recently bought the system and need to pipe everything to some speakers in the hallway/foyer area. Having a hard time visualizing the routing for this. Thank you!
thank you for sharing this series tutorial, it is helpful. in this video the UA-cam auto CC subtitles are Vietnamese. it is a little difficult for me. I am Chinese. ( in south provinces of China. there are a lot of churches here, we also have consoles like Behringer X32 M32 Wing Allen&heats Qu...which is useful and not too expensive. ) sometimes I need to watch the video with the English subtitles. could you please fix it to English Subtitles. it is good to Nonnative English speaker. thank you so much.
Thanks for your video.
But can you explain to me how to import .WAV audio files on the SD card in order to use them in playback on the X32 console.
thank you in advance
Hey Drew some of us have the compact and it is not so straight forward if you are using an SD16. I routed everything prior to the show with my laptop, No outputs worked and I did it the same way as I used to with the old firmware. The inputs worked just not the outputs. needed to use the outputs on the console to send for a live feed. nothing worked. My brain does'nt understand the routing in 4.2. Thankfully I had an analog snake with me so I just used that to get through the show. I time pemits can you do a video shoing the routinf for using the SD16 and the local inputs and outputs. Was going to sell console but Behringer has put Version 3.12 back on the website. If you make the video I may stick with 4.2 if not I put 3.12 on a usb stick in case Behringer decides to pull it again. Thanks love your videos!
Is it possible to send Main L/R to more than two separate outputs? Like to Out 1/2 but also to Out 3/4? So that Main L/R can be sent to FOH speakers but also to a separate computer for live broadcasting. Or do I need to set up a matrix for that?
Use Matrix
Great tutorials. Q:I cant get the my 2 x X32 compacts to work correctly in FOH/Mon config with S16 & SD8 (FW4). I have the FOH X32 = AES50A Input 1-8 9-16 17-24, AES A Outputs 1-8 9-16 17-24 . Mon X32 = AES50A Input 1-8 9-16 17-24, AESA Outputs 1-8 9-16 1-8 9-16. All the inputs 1-24 are mirrored OK between the consoles & the Mon X32 is OK & can output to various monitors XLR (1-6) but FOH/L&R only output through the physical 7-8 on FOH X32, not the S16,SD8 or Mon X32. Any suggestions?
Hi Drew....great vid! I was wondering if you can route in blocks less than 32 with a x-madi card using v4? Thanks 😊
Yes you can! Check out the User Routing video here: ua-cam.com/video/Ah8MmlIbe-s/v-deo.html
Hi drew I’m sorry for asking you about it I just bought the behringer X32 and I don’t know how to get the firmware v4 could you please help me or make a video on how to get it on the Mac desktop
I actually have a video on this already! Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/Gu-6DkHU8jE/v-deo.html
Really bummed you can’t do 1 to 1
hi... how do i send my crowd mic to only my recording matrix?
by not having it sent to front of house. Thats what submixes are for.
@Wishus knight hit this on the head of the nail! You would want to set up a submix for something like that. I have a blog post dedicated for something like this! Check it out here: dbbaudio.com/2018/recording-feed-from-foh/
Great video! =]
Thanks!
