The devs did know what they had. It was the hackers that ended the game. I remember the last few days of the game. You could not even get into the game. All the characters and the item that you paid for were deleted by the hackers. Then when you create a new character to get in the game, you only can get into a game for a minute, before you are kicked out and your character is deleted again. It was really messed up. Like you could argue the devs should have done a better job with security. Nevertheless, the death of the game was definitely the hackers.
Man I used to play this game back in 2007. What a nostalgia. At the time double butterfly was the norm, then at 2010 it becomes triple butterfly, never really perfected it.
Even today not many people use tbf in combat even though it is a lot more popular now

Yeah the game had unintended animation cancelling glitches that that allowed people to make "special combos"
This is what made the game so unique and fun, but unwelcoming to new players due to slow learning curve
Yea you had to grind. Basically when you have a sword out you can dodge so if you jump, dodge, then switch to your gun, you can do this crazy shit you're seeing. It gets complex...I was so good at half steps god I miss this game so much

if Fortnite kids were born 2 decades earlier they would've all played this game probably. They both have really sweaty controls, but they both look entertaining when at top tier.

I wonder how many keyboards you went through for those lightning fast finger movements LOL. Thanks for posting this! The flood of memories just pouring in. I remember the countless hours spent learning K-style and D-Style. I was more into using dual revolvers/shotty as opposed to dual shotty's just to do something different. Glad to see some GunZ love!

I was a beasttt at butterfly combos...I was also one of the first NA players to kstep (ARGUABLY second, me and a friend were logging countless hours at it). I miss this game so much
Honestly our play styles are very similar except I always dashed back and forth when doing butterfly combos

I just thought id type in Gunz to see if it was still a thing. Glad there are people still keeping this gem of a game alive. I played back when it was on ijji, and got pretty good before i got hooked on runescape.

i used to play this and Rakion back in 2006, but I could never master the butterfly technique of Gunz.

side note: that gamemode from overwatch, where you need to move the cart across the map and the other team is trying to stop you (no idea what it's called), I think a mode like that would work really well in GunZ
That’s a really good idea I can definately see that being a lot of fun in gunz, allows the use of other weapons too and not just dual shottys
The nostalgia is real. Im Old Gen back when International Gunz was number one before ijji Gunz. Played up until 2008. Came back in 2011-2012 and quit for good after that. Good memories. I wonder if LG Gunz and DR Gunz is still around.

blink step is not a hard move, nasty combos are gdhs + ppq + blink or some. blinks a pretty basic move. Clean tho for sure!

I’m so glad this game still has a fandom. If Twitch existed back when it launched, it’d be up there with CSGO for high-twitch FPS.
I’m old now (used to play this when RO or WoW had downtime), and after decades of shooters GunZ still has probably the most fun mechanics. It’s funny seeing the K-Style double pistol/kodachi and J-Style roll like 20 years later. 😂

@@lauraa4547 official gunz servers are only live in Korea so the rest of the world jus plays on private servers. And yeah you should give it a go, you may be surprised at how well you do haha

That’s sick, and yeah a lotta big gamers used to play this game tbf just needs that attention again, and the fgunz player base around a consistent 200, and there’s anti/lead now so you don’t have to lead at all, ping is relative to your location same as IJJI

i play freestyle gunz and see a lot of players like you there hahaha since i played ijji for a long time before, my first time playing for a long time is frustrating. the moves i knew before were rusty when i tried them again but slowly but surely i am getting back into it haha

Everytime I do these insane moves, my finger hurts and becomes stiff for a few minutes. I just couldn't do it. I don't know why it's happening. I kinda bit jelly for seeing you guys do these. Fun times indeed.

Such a great game.. I think I invested like 4 years or so into this game atleast. Although I never learned good pc gamer mechanics, never got godly skilled but berserker was do fun. So was quest. Fun as fuck game. Maybe I’d come back someday and play it if I had a friend. K style, being able to sword/cancel slash and climb walls, block bullets, combo slashes into gunshots. Such a badass game. Anybody play bo4 here?
Definitely a one of a kind game, not many games give you the feeling as this one when doing the many different techs and pulling it off well.

This Game has a very Solid Community on FXP Gunz the people there are like no other and carry the utmost adequate when it ones to playing the game. Its Still very alive! This community is striving to try and bring back what we had with a consistent 3k players as of date. May not seem like much but considering being able to actually get into a match, learn and have fun these people are there for it! Don't stray from trying to play it because you think only Private servers exist. Theres nothing Private about those who care about the game and are trying to bring peeps back Via FXP Gunz the Duel and a positive experience. The OG Site, that community is alive too.... but its pretty toxic all things considered and not in a get good way either.

Everything is a certain tech, if you mean half stepping, you would jump - dash - slash - swap weapon - dash back - shoot
10K isn’t even a lot for some of us as weird as it may sound. I started in 2007 and probably have upwards of 30K+ hours. Many OG’s have even more than that.
Yeah very true, I have no idea the exact amount of hours I’ve got since I started in 2009 and have been on and off since then, 10k just looks appealing 😂 but deffo have 10k+ hours for sure.

No other shooter will ever be as fast paced and exhilarating as this game. I think it's probably the reason why I couldn't get into any other shooter as much as I was into GunZ.

I never got to play gunz before the IJJI days, I started on ijji so I can’t really comment on that, I just wish the game was picked up by a reliable publisher who still pushed the game, and love that for you man 👊🏽

@@sss_sustentation fgunz is better for casual players, more rooms with a variety such as TDM DM and training rooms quests etc, FXPgunz is mostly for competitve games such as ladder mode. These are all private servers at the end of the day but they all have some sort of value, in my opinion i think FXPgunz is the most smoothest experience but fgunz is good too.
