    Oh man - thank you. Great video. Been trying to follow the instructions in the box and watch Samsung's own 'how to' video but it just leaves so many questions for this average Joe. Excellent work, well shot and clear. Wish I'd found you 90 minutes ago. Back to finish what I started ;o)

    One thing missing from this video is that the 43” Frame 2021 version (I just received and installed mine yesterday) has a completely different mounting system. It comes with two small square brackets that mount to the wall (about the same size as the pieces shown in this video that fit to the TV) and the TV itself just has two screws that hang on those square brackets. It’s harder to hang but still sits flush. ALSO, they included a full-size paper template in the box for easier hanging. I do LOVE those new toggle bolts which I did use due to their shallow depth. I actually mounted my TV on a wall with a pocket door behind it! (I cut the bolts so they were shorter).

      Yes, that's correct. We published this video immediately when we could get our hands on the very first of the 2021 TVs. The 43" 2021 models weren't released until many weeks later. You're correct the mounting method on the 32" and 43" versions is different. We will do a follow up video on this in the future.

      Pablo, can you describe how the portrait function works? Samsung wasn't any help. Does it rotate on the wall, or do you have to lift it off the wall and turn it manually to go from landscape to portrait?

    • @pablogalvz
      @pablogalvz 3 роки тому

      @@jonathanwinslow3704 I believe it CAN be mounted vertically as the only thing that attaches to the TV itself is a small screw that goes into one of the VESA mount holes - you use two screws to hang the TV to the wall. You should be able to use the vertical VESA holes or the horizontal ones depending on how you want to hang the TV. Then on the wall you mount your hanging hooks either wider apart for horizontal or closer together for vertical. I know that any google image search I’ve tried does not show what the 2021 43” back looks like - it’s different in the way it mounts than any other model I’ve seen. Once you go over 43” the mounts look like the ones in this video but this one is different for sure.

    Hi, thanks for the video. I have a couple of quick questions. (A) in the video you mounted each bracket to the wall using 2 screws it seems. But the Samsung instructions indicate you should use 4. Was there a reason you only used 2? (B) in the video it showed a 55" TV being unboxed. However in response to one of the questions below you said it was a 65" TV. Can you please clarify? I have a 55" and was planning to use the exact measurements you did.

    • @ronmilford9519
      @ronmilford9519 2 роки тому +4

      Since I've professionally installed several of these I'll chime in. The 65" Frame weighs 49.6 pounds to give you a reference point. Being that the Frame fits tight to the wall and the hanging hardware is light weight it puts minimal pulling pressure on the anchors (it's just downward pressure) vs say a pull out and tilt mount on a standard TV which places a more of direct pulling pressure on the anchors especially when the TV is pulled out away from the wall. In this case where he had two in the wood and two snap toggles, he is well under the recommended maximum weight for the anchors. Two snap toggles on one side gives you over 200 pounds holding weight and the screwed into the stud lags probably exceed that by quite a significant amount. So you're looking at in excess of 400 pounds weight capacity for a TV that is roughly 50 pounds. I think the reason they recommend four is to keep the mounting plate from twisting out of level although I haven't found this to be an issue as long as you snug up your anchors.

    • @jamesyuen8667
      @jamesyuen8667 2 роки тому

      Do not use 5 3/4" as your measurement from the first hole on the bracket to the top edge of the TV . Samsung's set of directions for the 55 inch Frame TV uses a distance of 5.2" The bracket on the TV is not supposed to be fixed; it actually swivels and slide upward from its neutral position once the TV is hung. The design of the non-stationary bracket position relative to the TV allows for theinstaller to be able to adjust TV after it is hung to get it leveled. I have watched 4-5 installation UA-cam videos., but no one has mentioned this design, which I am formulated based on my assessment of the bracket to TV relationship. You can tighten the single bolt between the bracket and TV as tight as it will go, but the bracket will not cinge down competely and will slop out of its neutral position. The bracket also has an open slot, I believe to allow the bracket to shift as needed for balancing the TV. I think that is why you are supposed to stick on that slippery insert between the bracket and the back of the TV. A couple of UA-cam installer expects have mentioned they do not know why you have to stick on this insert under the bracket. I believe it is there to aid the TV to swivel in the vertical plane to allow the TV to level out after installation. I could be wrong, but the above is my assessment.

    Glad to see comments are on now! So - my earlier question is still: based on what you e seen with 2020 and 2021 Frame TVs, is there a clear advantage or disadvantage to either one? I know the 2021 is thinner and has 6GB of internal picture storage vs 500MB, which is significant. But the 2020 is often discounted and would you rather save money in the 2020 or go big and get the 2021? Thanks!

    • @DecoTVFrames
      @DecoTVFrames  3 роки тому +3

      The most notable difference is the thickness. Other than that, everything else seems to be essentially the same. Personally, we think the 2021 looks much more believable as wall art because it's so thin. In contrast, the earlier models mounting process is slightly easier and the wall mount supports tilt functionality. The pros/cons are really more a matter of personal preference. The tilting topic, we don't feel matters very much since typically art is hung flat to a wall. Yes, during a model year transition there will always be some discounted of the prior years model, but personally we think for the nomal price difference between a discounted. 2020 model, we would prefer the newer version. ... we'll be doing a full in depth features review in the near future so be sure to subscribe.

    I must be missing something here. I installed the plates with the hangers on the back of the TV. When I do a test run and I place the metal brackets onto the hangers and lift the TV by the brackets, the whole plate with the hangers moves up. There is nothing stopping the plate with the hanger from sliding up an inch or so because of the huge groove in the plates. How am I supposed to measure where I am supposed to put the holes if the bracket can move +/- an inch?

    • @DecoTVFrames
      @DecoTVFrames  Рік тому +1

      The slim wire is required for the TV to work. You would need to run it on the surface of the wall if it cannot be run inside the wall. It's very discrete and clear. I've seen people take many clever approaches to hiding the cable on the surface of the wall. Some place an object like a plant or picture frames on a shelf while others have even covered it with scotch tape and painted over it with the same as the wall color for it to entirely disappear.
      One of the benefits to this one discrete cord is you won't have to hide all sort of other bulk black HDMI cables every time you add another component to your setup. Those components can all plug directly into the One Connect box. This article explains more... help.framemytv.com/samsung-one-connect-box-explained

    I need help here. In india, the installation is done by Samsung themselves. But the thing is, when their person came to install, he said the TV needs about 4" on both sides and the TV needs to slide left-right before it can be installed flush with wall. I have about 3" on both sides and he said installation won't be possible and tried to sell a conventional non standard frame for extra cost and which will not be as flush. As I can see here, it probably doesn't need to slide left-right to install. Can you please confirm? I've sent back the installer for now and may need to raise complaint with Samsung if he's indeed trying to cheat.

    • @DecoTVFrames
      @DecoTVFrames  2 роки тому

      Yes ... though this is incredibly less gap then you'll find with any other TV on the market. In our 15 years of experience in this space, we've found that all other TVs will have a 2" or greater gap between the back of the TV and the wall. That's why all of the custom frames we used to make before our Deco frames had standard 1.5" deep sides and even those would always have still another 1"+ of space behind the frame.

      Not so much, I’ve been installing tvs for 15 years. Toggle anchors can technically hold over 100lbs in drywall ideally you hit a stud but if you want just drywall to hold up your $1000 tv go ahead. He also used wood screws and a washer both of which are not included in the package. Samsung has been cheaping out on their brackets for years and the screws they give are of the same poor construction included. They tend to grind out even if you pre drill with the 1/8” bit that’s recommended. I would definitely use different lags then what they give but otherwise good video.

      Thanks for chiming in. In the video on one side we caught a stud and on the other we just did a Toggle. Yes, you're right Samsung has definitely scaled back their included hardware. I should have mentioned that.

      @@DecoTVFrames this is something that has come up in regards to the heads stripping on the included Samsung hardware. The issue is not the quality of the hardware imo it is that they use JIS - or Japanese Industry Standard - which is not compatible with a standard US phillips head which will invariably strip out the screw heads. JIS drill tips and screwdrivers are not super hard to find and not super expensive so installers have a choice; invest in some JIS gear and use the included hardware or toss the hardware and replace it with your own US standard stuff :)

    • @DecoTVFrames
      @DecoTVFrames  3 роки тому

      Technically no the new bracket design does not support tilting. To make it work for such a thin TV they had to simplify the design of the mount to be thinner so that was part of the trade-off of the thinner design. HOWEVER, you could probably put a wood block or strip behind the top of the TV to push it away from the wall slightly which would give the same effect.

      That is why you are supposed to look at the directions provided by Samsung. Since each bracket shifts from its neutral position once the TV is hung, the TV drops down. That is why the directions says to use 5.2 inches between the top bracket hole and the top edge of the TV (NOT 5 3/4 inches). I followed Samsung's measurements and got my 55 inch TV exactly on my tape line.

I need to bodge mine so that it's on a wall mount that can rotate a bit, so it will need to sit a bit further from the wall because of the bigger mount. As long as you hit a stud, 2 screws should be fine, but you'll want to consult the TV manufacturer for an official advice. The Samsung Remote will communicate with the One Connect box via Radio Frequency (RF) so it should be fine. I'm not sure about on the opposite side of the wall, but we've put the One Connect box inside the wall in a metal Versabox behind the TV many times with no problem at all. obviously someone sitting behind a computer desk without installation experience has come up with this new design. Good luck using it with plaster screws on a 85inch 8k tv like my customer presented to me today to install, too risky. Bit of a disaster of a bracket design in my opinion, so many things can make it difficult or not practical to install perfectly where someone wants their tv.

    • @jamesyuen8667
      @jamesyuen8667 2 роки тому

      The bracket on the TV is not supposed to be fixed; it actually swivels and slide upward from its neutral position once the TV is hung. You can tighten the single bolt between the bracket and TV as tight as it will go, but the bracket will not cinge down competely and will slip out of its neutral position. Also, by having two brackets, the TV gets more stability (more safe than one bracket), and the movement designed within the two brackets allow leveling of the TV after it is hung. It is actually an ingenious design (regarding the brackets).

    Worst mount ever. Way worse for the smaller size frame tvs at least I’m terms of installation. No way to level it out after if you’re off by even a small pinch.
