Rio already hosted recently Rio +20, Pan American Games in 2007 and several other international events and the overall consensus was that the Olympics will be great as a huge amount of resources are being invested and the Brazilian people are ready to showcase Brazil to the world as a great nation! Public transport will be the biggest challenge but as the World Cup will also be in Rio, extra efforts are being directed to this area.

As good as I'm sure the World Cup is going to be the Olympics is really the event that is important to Brazil because the entire world is competing and is more important in the development of the country and leaves a longer lasting legacy. Having seen how the east end of London has changed from a run down part of the city with a bad reputation to an area where there is world class facilities for the public and a stadium that is not a white elephant. From watching this video and the networking system which will be put in place as a result of being a host city is something that will be beneficial to the country as a whole. I do think though Brazil must be aiming to finish in the top 10 on the medal count!
