Last year while visiting PV the grocery store behind our time share had a skimmer on the checkout card reader and we had over $5,000 charged to our account. Be aware of these. We did get refunded through our bank but what a massive hassle.
Puerto Vallarta is a rip off. Average Mexican owned hotels with rooms going for $200. It's become an expat pit. Most meals start in the $20 to $25 range. I go to Mexico for more cultural enrichment not to look at 70 somethings hobble around this tourist trap. Was there recently and couldn't believe how much it has changed. The worst part is how rude the locals have become. My advice is to go elsewhere but be aware of the increased cost of almost everything. Mexico is not cheap anymore.
Thanks for sharing. Our impression is that a lot of people are having this experience with PV these days. It's changed and changing. It can still be really enjoyable, but it's clear that expectations when visiting have to be tempered by the reality of those changes.
I've been going to PV since early 2000 and yes, it has grown, changed, became more expensive, but to this day, I have never had a local be rude to me. It's the opposite. In my opinion, if you expect rude, you'll get rude. Also, unfortunately, gentrification is everywhere, even if in the USA, and us travelers are to blame. And stop with the ageism. Do you think aging won't happen to you, and if you do, you'll be in perfect health? You can only hope you're lucky enough to be "hobbling" around in a beautiful beach town someday.
Hey are you guys okay? Haven't seen a video from you in 4 weeks and you're usually more frequent posters than that. Just wanted to check in that you're alright! 😘
I know a lot of people who have spent months there every year for the past 25+ years and I have been going since 2000 and have never been scammed. The people are beautiful. Certainly there are scammers in every touristy city but it's not the worst by any means...at least in my opinion :)
Hi Maribeth! We haven't had the opportunity to explore many beach towns on the Pacific coast. We tend to go inland to explore, e.g. Guadalajara, Morelia, Guanajuato, etc. Do you have any recommendations?
Very well documented. It's a pleasure to watch He Goes She Goes doing thier travels. They are very thorough and informative, no matter where they travel. Well done, guys, you're fun to watch.
We have visited P.V. now 9 times in the last 19 years. We in fact got married in Nuevo Vallarta Nayarit in December 2022. We plan to retire in the next 3 years and P.V. is one of our choices. Thanks for your opinions.
Let us know what you think! Is Puerto Vallarta a great Mexican destination for working remotely? Would love to hear!

Definitely not Versailles Puerto Vallarta. Amapas is hands down the best place to live
Great tip! We'll check it out the next time we're in Puerto Vallarta.
Well better than Biden, Dems and the horrible US! But Trump's going to win!! Whoooooo hoooooo
