Isn't she just beautiful? It has been a amazing journey! Never ever thought I'd fall in love with a Albratross! She sure is getting adventurous! I truly hope we get to see her fledge!
Lady Hawk, she was clacking away from the top of that little hill. Do you think she can see other chicks from up there? Is Atawhai considered a juvie when she fledges and then an adult only when she returns to find a mate? She's definitely got the wanderlust in her; it won't be long now. Up up and away she'll fly, taking my heart with her!
Hi Katydid - She could see other chicks up there - they were walking around today and we had one visitor actually in view of the cam today! She will be considered an adolescent even when she comes back in 4+ years. When she finds a mate she will be considered an adult non breeder until she has her first chick. Albatross do not start producing chicks until they are 10+ years old
@@ladyhawk will you be uploading a video of the vistiting chick by any chance?
@@ladyhawk Do couples stay together for long before having chicks ? Do they stick together out of the breeding season ?
@@Fredshitzencrap Hi Fred yes I did the video today! The male is a good looking guy too! Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/d6Ff1OygPMg/v-deo.html

"you been lookin' at me, now I am gonna be lookin' at you"!
I thought Christine H’s comment was awesome! She hopes that Atawhai will fledge in the company of one of her parents. And I hadn’t thought of that before!
So now I am wondering if a juvenile albatross has ever chosen to fledge by following after one of his/her parents as they takeoff!
I think it’s a wonderful mental image, and my heart embraces that thought!
I know it’s going to be any day now...
And I pray for her to have a long safe and healthy life!
Pippa/atawhai seems checking the area, familiarizing every detail so she can remember when she come back some years later, she will miss the place hershelf also.it's only my thinking thou.TYSM LH.
A sweet comment! I agree! She’s memorizing every mound and clump of grass!
I’ll bet you the Ranger’s building makes a great landmark for her to remember!
I love your comment!
Thanks to Ranger Sharyn Mam and to all Rangers doing a great conservative work on Royal Albatross and other birds all over the world...
I'm gonna miss her so much when she leaves : (
I'm excited for November once the adults come back to nest though
Ooooo she is so cute walking up the hill like that 😍😍😍. I love we still get to see some up close pippasaurus walking 🥰😍. She is very beautiful! she always was- but now she’s really come into her own! I love Atawhai/Pippa and it’s going to be so sad when she goes ☹️ I can’t believe it’s already September, she won’t be here much longer. I’m guessing she’ll have left in 2 weeks
I just hope that I live long enough to see Pippa return and raise her own little chick. I love her so much!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She has been my quarantine companion all these months. 🥰
We are here with you Lady Hawk...waiting for Blast Off Houston! I have her on my big screen, tissues handy.💕
Haha I put her in the tv too today, it’s so nice seeing Pippa giant sized lol. I had to go back and watch some older videos because I was enjoying seeing Pippa on the big screen so much. Seeing videos of her when she was just a giant ball of fluff a couple months ago 😍😍😍
Does Ranger Sharyn ever get a day off??!!
@Michael F. Tommey 😆 😆
Goodbye sweetheart, know you are leaving soon. Godspeed honey, we are on countdown.
Atawhai wondering if she could just hike to her destination.
I hope she fledges with mom or dad while on camera.
💓💞💕💖💝💗🙏
I think that would be miraculous! I
I wonder if that ever happens?
I hope so too, my heart will go with her and tears will fall just as they are while I'm typing this😥she's such a daddys girl and it would be beyond beautiful to see them fly off side by side❤
@@carolynnunes3922 Maybe Pippa will fledge with both parents! Her parents show much affection for each other and their little girl. We can always hope and pray that Lady Hawk gets the much needed break she needs. 🙏
So close now, so curious. Maybe looking for her launching pad. Thanks, Lady Hawk!
This has been a wonderful experience 💕.
My SWEET pippa so gorgeous and beautiful sorry i can not. Say her name but i can say pippa 💞💞💖💖💓💓❤❤😎😎😎
🌞GM Lady Hawk! Pippa was very inquisitive here today as she continues to gain confidence in her surroundings and check out the colony from the ground. Have to smile at how quickly she gets around now, those leg muscles have been built up along with her wing muscles too with all that wingercising. It's a milestone we're finally on fledge watch here and Pippa could leave us at any time. A joyful time for her and her parents for that will mark a fully successful season. I guess our parents won't see Pippa again after she fledges? I don't envy that time for them not knowing where Pippa went but it is the way of the Albatross and I'm sure both parents know it's coming💔💞. Really cute opening and end scaps, thanks LH!💜😍
Destiny is call our little Atawhai. Won't be long now. Hopefully we get to watch her fledge. I will miss her, but I know she will be happy joining all other birds in the sky.
every day passes and I'm more in love with Atawhai... ❤ I think she will have the biggest leg muscles of the colony with all these walkabouts !
I've loved watching her since hatch! I hope she lives for a great many years and has many chicks! Thank you, Lady Hawk ❤❤
So curious now. She is looking for that right area. I hope I get to see her take off. She's just beautiful
I'ld just like to have the honor of watching my sweet Princess Pippa finally fly high on her great adventure across the oceans, just as I had the immense honor of watching her be born, grow up and transform into the beautiful and graceful albatross girl Atawhai! It doesn't matter that my heart is torn by the lack that I will miss her. I will always love her wherever she goes! 😍 💕💖💕 ⛅ 🙏
I totaly agree with you Silvana Souza. TYSMLH from Brazil
Agree with you Silvana. I worried that I had missed her fledge yesterday. This video was awesome. Pippa is my first Albatross so I’m sure I’ll be crying when I see her fly.
@@michele0317 Me too, Michele. 🌷🌷
This is my first albatross also. She is hard too see when she hides in the grass. I'm sorry I did not know about this site sooner. I came over because I knew about the Cornell site and the red tailed Hawks, also I have been watching some other Cam's
@@ringdoorbell3223 Hi Ring Doorbell. You can watch all of Pippa's videos that are available in the playlist entitled Royal Cam Albatross 2019-2020 on this channel. I'm absolutely sure that you will be even more fascinated by these majestic divine albatrosses. Watch all videos. It's worth watching! I wish you good fun! Health, happiness and all the best. 😊 💙🌻🌻 🙏
So exciting to see these last moments getting ready to soar! She’s curious and intelligent as always. Beautiful big girl ready to launch.
Fly fly Atawhai !! Be sure & post your adventures on Instagram and Facebook for us ❤️😁
Greetings Lady Hawk! I am wondering why the sudden stubborn aggression by the Sea Gulls? TY for the wonderful work you do, for all of us to enjoy!!!
Pippa where are you???I miss you 💗💗
Gorgeous girl. We will miss you
😍❤
Awwee ..she's such a big girl now 🤗♥️
Silly question maybe but why aren't the chicks banded? I'd think they would want the data for ongoing conservation efforts
Atawhai is so curious!! big girl too. I'm excited for her journey.
When I see she all grown up, I can’t get passed how much effort and commitment it takes from the parents to raise an albatross chick.
We all love our beautiful girl ! I love the way she walks and her gentle eyes ! She's is so brave and adventurous ! What will we do without her
Your Heart knows the way...Go in that Direction!
Glad to hear that she will fledge with Mom or Dad. She needs to be able to catch her own food and feed herself!🤞
It's so cute how she goes for little walks - do they normally stay in the area when they fledge and do they ever return to the nest area?
Those seagulls were putting up the fuss it seemed lol
Are the loud screechy birds crows?
She is looking kind of awkward and waddly on the ground now . Won't be long before she is riding the air streams.
What do parents do once their chick fledges ? Do they come back to the nest once and then leave as their chick's not here anymore ? Do they come back some more ? Do they follow their fledging out there to the ocean for a while ?
Genial !
She's a bit nosey if I may say
Pippa seems to be more social
And energetic than the others it seems. 😂
She is adventurous and curious about everything! She is so exciting to watch💖. Thanks Lady Hawk! This is a very cute video and the seagulls are really singing today too! Lol 😂🤗🌼🌸💕
