Nice to see an honest review but taking a bike designed to carry 2 people, in comfort, at huge speed, with luggage, across a continent and then complaining it has a long wheelbase is like complaining that ice is cold. There are few other bikes that can cover 600 miles one day then scratch on the canyons the next, all while putting a huge smile on your face. The H2 SX is not perfect because no compromise is, but it is the best "do everything" (on tarmac) bike you can get.
I've had this bike 9 months now. Time enough for me to match its capabilities. I have tamed this beast & the result is a beautiful relationship between man and machine! I've had her on twisties, motorway cruises, touring and track days. At nearly 60yrs I have never been afraid of speed. Yet I am aware of my own capabilities. This bike's capabilities outshine my own capabilities! A keeper! I am content for my SX SE Ninja to be my final bike ever.
Did you check the tire air pressure before you rode? Probably not, and that will cause handling issues on any motorcycle. When I got mine, it was about 29psi. It calls for 42psi. World of difference after an air pressure correction.
I bought this bike and love it so far! The power is deceptively fast and its crazy comfortable for longer trips not to mention I get upwards to 40 mpg when I play nice lol
"It sounds bad, and isn't very nimble" *goes back home and posts another vid jizzing while repeating "s 1000 double r" like 9000 times* haters, man. kawasaki *invented* the sportbike when they slapped the first fairing on a bike in like '83, and invented the superbike with the 1100 Ninja, and now they've done it again with H2 class bikes, running a 130,000 RPM supercharger and the most advanced electronic management ever seen, including up/down clutchless quickshifts right off the assembly line. The cbr600, gsxr750, R1, and H2 are best in class, in that order, IMHO. Just like it's always been.
The SX can feel weird in slow turn corners because of the fueling at low RPMs. You can thank the nanny EURO4 requirements for that. Easily fixed with a flash. The bike handles fine. I know guys who have done track days on them, put over 10K miles on them this summer, etc. Also, you speak of "meat on the bone" with respect to the supercharger and engine. A flash to de-restrict it yields 210+ rwhp on a 100% stock bike. Out of the crate it puts down about 170 rwhp. The SX is severely restricted out of the crate.
One of the most restricted bikes my tuning shop had ever seen, went from 168 rear wheel horsepower to 215 RWHP after full system, bigger open air filter and a ECU flash. Also made top speed faster and you could rev it out more on certain gears after ecu flash, monster of a bike and unlike this video I actually thought it handled pretty well. Much better than my 2018 Ninja 1000 SX and especially for a 255 kg bike. The black 2018 model you can actually get below 250 kg fully fueled with some "simple" mods, so it weighs in it's high 240 kg. Which makes it closer to the Z1000SX or Ninja 1000SX as it is called nowadays. At that weight it handles even better, especially with the Pirelli Angel GT's that I tried it with.
Man, first of all top rate review as usual. Your video shots did due justice to this bike.. But that's just about it. The rest of your impressions while very much valid to the beholder, are not anywhere even close to describe the marvel that is this bike. I mean, everything about this bike is trailblazing. Damn, I like it but if it can't turn worth a bit then it can't be fun for very long. Just fast and straight? I'm looking for a more powerful sport touring bike to replace my Triumph Sprint 1050ST but the reason I love my Triumph is because it handles well in the twisties for it's size. I can throw it around like a liter bike when the bags are off. It's just too slow. Was hoping this Kawi would be my solution.
I see why everyone recommends starter bikes but I’m not gonna spend loads of cash to get something I’m eventually gonna buy...how much is it too fill up the tank
@@SithxRaverxLuis I'm not even saying get a starter bike, I just don't think you should get an H2. If anything go buy an S1000RR, a CBR1000RR, a ZX10R, almost anything else. Also, no idea where you live so it would be hard to tell you how much it cost to fill the tank lol.
How tall are you? I always wanted a Kawasaki Ninja but I feel like I wont be able to ride it. I am 5'8" and my inseam is 30 inches. I guess to actually go and sit on one would be easier but I figured I'd ask before I drive all they way down there to go sit on a bike I may or may not be able to ride.
Doesn't look like you were counter steering when you were talking about the turns looks like you were Turing it like a cruiser but I haven't had chance to ride a h2 yet. But pleant of other kawasakis.
ive been looking for a fast sport tourer forever,. switched from ninja 1000 to gsx-s1000f now im planning on going to H2 SX.. just hoping for a H2 SX SE in a different color besides green
Interesting take. This is one of the first reviews I've stumbled upon that wasn't over-the-top positive. But helpful regardless. I'm torn between this bike and BMW's S1000XR. Unfortunately it is absurdly difficult to get a demo on the H2 SX. I have had several demos on the S1000XR and it's ridiculously well rounded. My only gripes are the height of the bike and the throttle response on takeoff (it's a little anemic in the low rpms before it started screaming).
Cool bike but damn, what's with the astro physics degree needed to control the systems? As far as the niche of powerful sport touring bikes, they've been making them for awhile. Try the BMW K1300S, KTM Super Duke GT and others out there. This isn't a new concept at this point, just Kawasaki's entrance since the ZX14 isn't set up that way here in the US. They tour with it in Europe though.
I watch the H 2 on UA-cam and I notice some riders go up only to third gear. I can use all the gears on my Ninja 650. The H 2 is like killing a fly with a shotgun. However, I still want one. How much is it anyway?
i dont wanna nip pick, but your negativity towards this bike is bias. outside the USA this bike is insanely popular. also the weight isnt an issue if you know how to ride a heavier bike, that said the same thing goes for someone who knows how to turn. apart from the 10 odd factual flaws in this video the rest was ok. id just reccomend a wind mic for the intro as that wind buffering sound was abit harsh,
Is it bias or is it simply my opinion. As for you other comments, please list out all 10 factual flaws so that the other viewers can see the correct information! I will pin this comment to the top. I know the wind was an issue in the beginning, as I forgot my proper mic setup that morning. Otherwise my on-bike audio was on point.
Just get zx14 still faster and better, I was planning to buy this in Philippines but the cost was 1.8 million peso, compare to 900k peso for the ZX14R so I went with it and no regrets.
Long time fan of your reviews. This is another good one. I do have one request though. You never take the rpms to where the HP is. Even back to the tuono days you seemed to want to get to 6th gear as fast as possible even if you were only going 40mph. Please wring that thing out and let us know what it feels like to give it the beans! Keep up the good work.
@@DukeOfDC only 60 mph in 1st ? this is giving my some thought on if I change from a zx12r to a h2sx im about 80 in 1st 120 2nd 144 3rd 165 4th 186 5th and I dont use 6th and that MPH
Pararera The SE has corner lights, heated grips, centre stand, quick shifter up and down, power outlet, braided brake/clutch line, different windscreen, different seat and tft display. The SX doesnt have those options.
Wait…did I hear that correctly?? This bike has an “FML” power mode?!? Hahaha I was only listening to this vid when you said the different riding modes and I had to rewind to see if I caught that correctly. Kawi legit should’ve actually labeled its top mode that 🤣
@@spengg_shell Yes it is. because of extra 40 pounds and tune down engine on the h2 sx is noticeably slower than normal h2. Maximun power is even made on h2 sx by brocks performance tune was 240HP at the rear and top speed of 205 mph. But brocks performance made h2 tune to produce 276HP at the rear and 219 mph top speed. I heard even higher numbers on h2 but these one is the most legit because they actually shown the dyno graphs. H2 sx never built in mind to be fastest or badest it's sacrificed raw power and performance for smoothness and comfort and everyday usability. H2 sx is still very fast but h2 is much faster.
Guess I would be the other side of the biking world... give me a long wheel base bike with very unique features, that way you ride a rare bike, instead of the usual 1000cc sport bike. It does like all bikes need after market upgrades!
Well called mate. I agree, I can't find a reason for this bike other than ego. You can do pretty much everything on a Z1000se that you can do on this, but for a massive saving
Really identifying with your take on the bike. I haven't ridden one yet but have the same sort of bike feel you seem to have. You made this most interesting, thank you.
573 lbs. is a non-starter for me....130 lbs. more than a GSX-r1000. One other consideration about the seat ht. Bikes that have a low saddle often have a high tail and that makes it just as hard to get on and off the bike for shorter riders because you really have to bend and lift your leg to mount and dismount. I like Kawasaki bikes, just not this one. Also way to many gimmicks. I know how much throttle I'm giving by the sound and feel of the bike and who takes their eyes off the road to check that stuff?
Things with the heated grips is when you riding where it’s very cold ( I’m in Quebec, Canada ) and here we rides even when it’s really cold like around 0 degrees and sure it’s fine heated grips but what became hot is like inside your hands whiles what’s getting cold is the exterior of your hands mostly the fingers at the extremity so even when the grips becomes really hot it doesn’t help for the tops of your hands and fingers instead I’ve bought heated gloves I know it’s not protected like motorcycles gears but the heated is all around your fingers man this thing’s deserves a Nobel prices 😂😂😂😂😂😂 So much better than heated grips because when you ride it’s the top of your hands and fingers that hit the winds because you hold the grips so it’s all simply logical I don’t understand how come they’re still having heated grips sold because it doesn’t help at all belived me heated gloves is 200% better
I’m struggling to understand what the reviewer’s goal is of a performance bike… Less than 300 lbs more than 300 hp and 200 ft/lbs of torque? Who would ride or even buy that bike???
I sat on one of those and NO.It will not replace ZZR1400.Its too short and riding position for rider and pillion is no near ZZR1400 or Z1000SX.Both will be cramped. You can not make a tourer bike out of something which was designed as super sport even if you change handle bars and instal rised wind screen.17L fuel tank capacity? For touring?hahaha I sat on Z1000SX few minutes after H2 SX and it felt so much better. I can eat 660 miles a day on ZZR easily. On this?If you like pain why not.
Boring review of the great bike. With speed limits in your country and your fear to twist the wrist this bike will not show even 50% of what it is made for.
Bro I ride a Z1000SX and it is essentially that bike with a few extras (mainly a supercharger) you can see by the kit you wear you are a confident and very proficient rider, but at the end when you say 'they wont let anyone test ride it' comes off slightly dickish. You video production level is nice when I meant meh I meant unless your on an autobahn you cant legally do what that bike was for, arguably anything over a 400 is fully utilised. Should've been clearer in my point. I see that now.
No worries man! But tbh the test ride thing is kinda true. I had to do a whole lot of convincing to get an opportunity to test ride this bike. Not trying to come off dickish... more grateful that someone (Twigg Cycles) finally let me take out the supercharged beast!
You barely engaged any boost, shortshifting it too much. Your are not supposed to shortshift a bike like this, banging through the gears with the quickshifter around 5000-6000 rpms. This bike makes most of it's power around 9000-10 000 rpms so you are supposed to ring it out a bit more than you did in this video. I actually think this bike handled in turns a lot better than my 2018 Ninja/Z 1000 SX did. I do not know why it felt so strange for you to turn, maybe the suspension settings or rubbers on the bike was wrong. For a 255 KG touring bike I found this bike handled awesome when I testrode it around 2018 when this bike was brand new, that was the black version with manual suspension though. Since my first test ride of this bike it became my absolute dream bike and I will own it some day soon. I will paint it all in a blank black color and make it a bit lighter with a full system, removing centerstand and then ECU flash it. Then I will tour Europe with this bike and keep it for many years. I wish you had taken the bike up to the rev limit, I got scared when I did that, in a good way My friend got this bike to 546 LBS and switched out the tires to Pirelli Angel GT, it handled and turned a lot better after that. For me it stands between this bike and the Super Duke GT, I love the more aggressive riding position of the H2SX and the sportbike look it has though above the Super Duke GT which is a bit more nimble.
I will be selling mine. There was too much unnecessary hype with this bike. Yes its quick in a straight line and will get you to triple digit speeds in no time, but for sport touring...? My backside starts to scream louder than that supercharger after 200km of riding on this bike.
@@DukeOfDC you said numerous times that it is very comfortable. However couldn't help but notice that you kept riding with one hand and or sitting back and hardly holding the throttle. Makes me wonder....
Well that's just rude lol. I agree that I talk to much, and I also agree that I ride terribly... but you didn't have to say it XD. Regardless, thanks for watching and safe riding out there!!
I HATE the looks but love the features and dash. Much prefer the 1000R touring bike to this one but honestly, Kawasaki needs to update the 1000R to have all these features THEN I'd honestly buy it but as of now...it's too damn butt ugly!
No, I didn’t watch much of the vid. You might have revealed existential secrets, but there is no way I’m going to listen to wind noise for... how long? If you can’t do it right, don’t do it.

What type of person/ rider do you think, in your opinion, kawasaki is targeting for this bike?
The Triple Rider if you want the bike you’ll save for a few years.
Buying the 2019 version of this bike as my first bike with no experience riding except dirt bike...thoughts?
I wouldn't recommend. Any chance I could talk you out of this?
I see why everyone recommends starter bikes but I’m not gonna spend loads of cash to get something I’m eventually gonna buy...how much is it too fill up the tank
@@SithxRaverxLuis I'm not even saying get a starter bike, I just don't think you should get an H2. If anything go buy an S1000RR, a CBR1000RR, a ZX10R, almost anything else. Also, no idea where you live so it would be hard to tell you how much it cost to fill the tank lol.
California $3.00 a gal
@@SithxRaverxLuis Ah see another reason to get a different bike. $15 is a bank breaker
His logic conviced me. I'm buyin
Yer gonna get a SWEET bike. Can't really beat the Kawasakis, especially their Supercharged models...have fun!
Great video new to your channel. Have your ridden the normal h2 before?
I haven't yet but would love to. Maybe I can convince 650ib to let me take his for a spin.
Hahaha yeah it's a bit of a clunky button system
Any chance you know much about the 'Benelli bn 302'? Would be interesting to see your thoughts on that as a entry level bike
I watch the H 2 on UA-cam and I notice some riders go up only to third gear. I can use all the gears on my Ninja 650. The H 2 is like killing a fly with a shotgun. However, I still want one. How much is it anyway?
What would be your to 5 in this class of bike ?
i dont wanna nip pick, but your negativity towards this bike is bias. outside the USA this bike is insanely popular. also the weight isnt an issue if you know how to ride a heavier bike, that said the same thing goes for someone who knows how to turn. apart from the 10 odd factual flaws in this video the rest was ok. id just reccomend a wind mic for the intro as that wind buffering sound was abit harsh,
Is it bias or is it simply my opinion. As for you other comments, please list out all 10 factual flaws so that the other viewers can see the correct information! I will pin this comment to the top. I know the wind was an issue in the beginning, as I forgot my proper mic setup that morning. Otherwise my on-bike audio was on point.
That bike is serious!..lol im 5' 6" I dont know if I would be able to flat foot.
Maybe not, but you’d be very close if not!
@@DukeOfDC I hate being 5'6"..lol
Just get zx14 still faster and better, I was planning to buy this in Philippines but the cost was 1.8 million peso, compare to 900k peso for the ZX14R so I went with it and no regrets.
hindi ilalagay sa h2 line up yan pre kung mas mabilis sa zx14 yang h2 sx se
If you can overlook the fact that the ZX14 is probably the ugliest bike to ever hit the road... then yeah, just get one of those.
4 month without a video... What happened bro? Is it because it was winter and the weather was just bad for bike riding and reviewing?
Wait it has a passenger seat ?
Duke your voice is so melodious!
Thank you 😊 I
Long time fan of your reviews. This is another good one. I do have one request though. You never take the rpms to where the HP is. Even back to the tuono days you seemed to want to get to 6th gear as fast as possible even if you were only going 40mph. Please wring that thing out and let us know what it feels like to give it the beans! Keep up the good work.
I bounced off the rev limiter in this video a couple times

"Please wring that thing out and let us know what it feels like to give it the beans! Keep up the good work."..lol.Raise yer hand if yer skeered;)
@@DukeOfDC only 60 mph in 1st ? this is giving my some thought on if I change from a zx12r to a h2sx im about 80 in 1st 120 2nd 144 3rd 165 4th 186 5th and I dont use 6th and that MPH
What are differents between SX SE and normal SX?
Pararera The SE has corner lights, heated grips, centre stand, quick shifter up and down, power outlet, braided brake/clutch line, different windscreen, different seat and tft display. The SX doesnt have those options.
I love the bike but the insurance put me off as it was more than double that of my current 2016 SX Tourer 😢
dat bike is beautiful
The paint job is very impressive. I adore the metal flake
"Power's in F.. M.. L" LMAOOO
😂 😂
I can't make this shit up lol. F, M, L was a bold choice, Kawi engineers.... v bold
this XD
Something bad waiting to happen lol
Great, another bike to obsess over
Wait…did I hear that correctly?? This bike has an “FML” power mode?!? Hahaha I was only listening to this vid when you said the different riding modes and I had to rewind to see if I caught that correctly. Kawi legit should’ve actually labeled its top mode that 🤣
Does this have the same engine as the h2?
Yes but it's a bit tune down version of h2 engine. This engine is tune for better down low and mid range power instead of top end like a normal h2.
@@Fearless154 so is it noticeably slower?
@@Fearless154 so how fast does the sx go?
@@spengg_shell ua-cam.com/video/NJdXWauBrmQ/v-deo.html stock form it produce 178 HP at the rear wheel.
Guess I would be the other side of the biking world... give me a long wheel base bike with very unique features, that way you ride a rare bike, instead of the usual 1000cc sport bike. It does like all bikes need after market upgrades!
Can you do a review on the new Speed Triple RS?
First boi
You’re a real ride or die. Heart you, fam.
Well called mate. I agree, I can't find a reason for this bike other than ego. You can do pretty much everything on a Z1000se that you can do on this, but for a massive saving
but on the other hand...*releases throttle* tutututut
Everything but keep up out side of corners. Some people just want a well rounded SINGLE bike....
Really identifying with your take on the bike. I haven't ridden one yet but have the same sort of bike feel you seem to have. You made this most interesting, thank you.
Beast man beast
What's the average MPG
That is one hell of a bike
Thx for the revieuw.... 👌 the engine didnt sound good at all at the start of the ride.... it sounded like the topend was running dry
It most certainly sounded a bit odd. I let it warm up for quite some time prior to getting after it.
I'm waiting for kawasaki h2r 2019 model.
What you should be waiting for is the 2020 Ninja zx-10r with the H2 engine 😍 speaking it into existence
OH JEEZ that intro music sounds so bad it's hilarious 😂😂🤣
Nothing against your reviewing, you're great, just that music 🤣🤣😂
Help me out then!! Please guide me to new music!!
DukeOfDC look up music is math that my be good just a thought
573 lbs. is a non-starter for me....130 lbs. more than a GSX-r1000.
Things with the heated grips is when you riding where it’s very cold ( I’m in Quebec, Canada ) and here we rides even when it’s really cold like around 0 degrees and sure it’s fine heated grips but what became hot is like inside your hands whiles what’s getting cold is the exterior of your hands mostly the fingers at the extremity so even when the grips becomes really hot it doesn’t help for the tops of your hands and fingers instead I’ve bought heated gloves
I know it’s not protected like motorcycles gears but the heated is all around your fingers man this thing’s deserves a Nobel prices 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So much better than heated grips because when you ride it’s the top of your hands and fingers that hit the winds because you hold the grips so it’s all simply logical I don’t understand how come they’re still having heated grips sold because it doesn’t help at all belived me heated gloves is 200% better
Heated everything is my general preference lol. I'm in a warmer climate now, but I've certainly had my fair share of cold riding
6:22 they're the planetary gears vibrating between their teeth because you're riding so slow.
I’m struggling to understand what the reviewer’s goal is of a performance bike… Less than 300 lbs more than 300 hp and 200 ft/lbs of torque? Who would ride or even buy that bike???
Can it hang with my Brock full exhuast and tuned 2013 zx14r and 2013 Busa?? I like TQ. Im 6'2 255lbs. I do like the bike.
8:10 Well there has been the Hayabusa for like 30 yrs now
I sat on one of those and NO.It will not replace ZZR1400.Its too short and riding position for rider and pillion is no near ZZR1400 or Z1000SX.Both will be cramped.
You can not make a tourer bike out of something which was designed as super sport even if you change handle bars and instal rised wind screen.17L fuel tank capacity? For touring?hahaha
I sat on Z1000SX few minutes after H2 SX and it felt so much better.
I can eat 660 miles a day on ZZR easily. On this?If you like pain why not.
Its funny every other reviewer says the zzr1400 is less comfortable than the H2sx
I don't know why given the price of these things and they are targeting the tourer market they didn't make it shaft drive
Get this man a job at Kawasaki!
you have short mans disease im 6.2 and love it
basically a spaceship on 2 wheels
Boring review of the great bike. With speed limits in your country and your fear to twist the wrist this bike will not show even 50% of what it is made for.
I thought the review was meh, right up until you started talking about your skill.
And then you thought it was even worse?
The bike was even more "meh" than the review lol
It's gorgeous! But it sounds like someone is taking hedge trimmers to an aluminum can.
I wish you had taken the bike up to the rev limit, I got scared when I did that, in a good way
My friend got this bike to 546 LBS and switched out the tires to Pirelli Angel GT, it handled and turned a lot better after that.
This is very important information for any prospective buyers. Thanks for sharing!
@@DukeOfDC have you managed to test ride the 2018/9 Honda goldwing yet? I am looking at that sort of bike for touring and longer distances
I have! Just recently in fact. Please search on my channel for the video. It is no more than 2 months old.
@@DukeOfDC you said numerous times that it is very comfortable. However couldn't help but notice that you kept riding with one hand and or sitting back and hardly holding the throttle. Makes me wonder....
I agree it's not a comfortable bike
this starts at 57000 euro in Denmark .. fucking taxes.. if you ever see this bike with Danish plates.. give the guy a nod.. he invested......

So do I! Don't worry, I let this bike properly warm up before starting the video!
I HATE the looks but love the features and dash. Much prefer the 1000R touring bike to this one but honestly, Kawasaki needs to update the 1000R to have all these features THEN I'd honestly buy it but as of now...it's too damn butt ugly!
You need empty roads. In Europe you find it only at night.Nice bike but pointless in today’s world and streets full of speed cameras

In the moment, when I first pulled away, it sounded bad. Really only sounds good when coming off power at high RPM
