  • Lots of Americans and Canadians living in Mexico are working for Dollars (or Canadian Dollars) while spending Pesos. In this video, I interview 6 (including myself) people who have careers that allow them to work from anywhere (at least part of the time.)
These aren't low-skill or mass-produced jobs. Each of us worked to create careers that allow us to work remotely. You can do it too! I recently interviewed a doctor who moved to Mexico after leaving behind clinical work and focusing on research instead. Many job skills are transferable to working remotely. You just need to be creative. The folks from this video are: a fashion designer, an author/UA-camr, an attorney, a business consultant, a physical therapist and a virtual videographer.

The pandemic has opened up many new opportunities and acceptance of working remotely. Maybe you can work remotely 100% of the time, or maybe you need to go back and forth. Or maybe you don't have an office, but need to visit clients. All are compatible with life in Mexico!
You don't need to wait until you retire to move to Mexico (or anywhere else - I just like Mexico.)

@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Thank you so much Brighton for the creative discussion and making of this motivational and informative video. Wow, I’m blown away on how well everyone is juggling their life in Mexico as well as their primary employment and side hustles. This was not only impressive but inspiring. I’m planning to move my mom and wife (and dog) in 2024. I have to really think on what I can do as a side hustle to keep me busy. I kinda like the surfing idea best but I don’t know how to surf, lol (yet!). I do love photography and Photoshop as a hobby, so we’ll see. Unfortunately, having been a deputy sheriff for ten years and a correctional officer for 14 years, I cannot work remotely with this skill. Ugh. I subscribe to everyone here and loved seeing all of you chillin’ at Stephan and Ada’s beautiful home. Ada, if you ever need a house sitter for a week… just saying.. 😊.. everyone take care.

Hello Brighton!! Wow....another powerful video with great words of encouragement!
This is an awesome compilation of interviews that highlights some ways that people can make a transition to Mexico work. I did subscribe to your two channel guests; they both look like awesome couples out there enjoying life.
I currently get a pension for my first career; which will be for life. And if something happens to me, my wife will get half of it for her life. I retired from that first career at 46 yrs old. Afterwards, I did a career change and am clipping away at a second career. This "new" career does not offer a pension, but I do make more than my first career. So, this new one has given us the ability to deal with what I call "the Big 3"; pay off house, pay cash for both kid's college, and modernize (and pay off) our car fleet. Aside from having a daughter, which presumably means "pay for wedding", the Big 3 are usually most folks' big expenses. The last component, our house, should be paid off this December 2022. And my daughter gets married in July 2023.
In listening to your various videos, and adding in what Stefan said at the end of this one, it becomes a decision of doing something now as we may not have a later. I've generally always planned to work this second career until I'm 60; this allows for achieving the Big 3 and also to plus up the bank account. But, fact of the matter is that my pension is well above what it costs to live in Mexico. Or, I should say "we could live in Mexico and still do a lot of things, as well as have a very decent lifestyle". The downside to acting now is that we would not have 100s of thousands of bucks in the bank; which would be counter to most financial advisors recommendations. Of course, I could also be hit by a Mack Truck while trying to secure those 100s of thousands of bucks.
    Safe travels to you two!
PS. Yes....we have our plane tickets and hotel reservations paid for our first exploratory trip there!! Only a month away!!

    • @AlmostRetiredinMexico

I am 21 and you would think I would fall into a bad person since my environment is a bunch of crackheads and lazy bums but I've been able to live a normal life. I work as an electrician and I am planning on setting up a business in Cancun and a couple other tourist areas so I can charge American prices but take it back to my hometown where I was born, in Guadalajara.
