The iPhone 12 mini is what all our small phone lovers have been waiting for. I was using the iPhone SE (1st gen) until this came out. It’s the perfect size and looks amazing, however I will say that after 2 days of using it my eyes feel tired and I am getting dizziness and nausea, and I’m actually happy that you brought that up. Always had issues with LED, and that’s why my screens were always LCD. Thought that the Super Retina display would help but it doesn’t seem like it. Will wait it out a few days before deciding on replacing it for the new SE, but it’s a bummer that apple decided to change the screen for this generation.
I have the SE2 and the I was thinking about upgrading to the 12mini but after seeing your review, I barley see a difference for the price and I'm pretty let down by the camera on the mini tbh, it looks almost exactly the same except for in night mode and video which I could just use my new GoPro for... keeping the SE2 even tho the cant stand bezels... the home button and speed make up for it.
In terms of comparing screen real estate, it would be helpful if you show side-by-side screens scrolling though apps like Twitter (beyond just showing both phones' home pages)
ill wait next year or two when the price drops before ill by the mini, that would time to replace my se 1. either way, it is still supported until next year i guess and besides, the phone still does the job done and works even being 'obsolete' by then.

I am still considering which one to get. I currently use the 5s, which I got new for so long ago that I cannot remember how old it is, so either will be a huge leap forward. That said my 5s still works flawlessly but it is becoming an issue with apps that will not run on such an old phone. I love the SE for the attractive price but lean towards the mini for the smaller size, better battery capacity, and huge difference in camera ability, particular with the ultrawide and night time options that are both very useful features, and not least an expectation of longer lifetime in terms of Apple updates. The bottom line is really all about the cost as the price difference is really humongous but if you can afford, and justify splashing out on the mini, then that seems to be the better choice of phone.
Had my mini for 10 days returned it. Battery life and small screen is a no go for me. I don't have a tablet and 95% of the time I'm browsing/media consumption on my phone even when I'm at home. I need a bigger screen. Got me the Pro max. Im coming from a Galaxy note 10 plus. Size wise, I have no problem with the Pro Max..went to apple store and tried it for several hours and liking it. Don't really know why people are saying its too big .
I have the green iPhone 12 mini and it is just an absolute work of art. Sometimes I bust out the screen cleaner and microfiber cloth to get it nice and clean, and than I just stare at it and admire it for minutes on end.
The only negative for me with the 12 mini is that poor battery life. I get its small but they could have boosted it just a bit more. That being said, i'd choose the 12 mini over SE because its got the most impressive specs. Its the perfect size and honestly is so powerful.
I have a 12 mini and am seriously considering going back to the SE 2020.... I'm absolutely hating life without fingerprint reader. Fingerprint reader is the TRUE power-user feature.
Yup, I sold my iPhone SE 2nd Gen about 3 months ago...I'm an android user at heart and use iPhone because my family does. I ended up getting the iPhone 12 mini and going from touch ID to face ID....I hate face ID and absolutely miss touch ID greatly....I can't even explain the difference but it's a major difference and touch ID is just a better overall experience to me as well
Really useful, thank you. The 12 mini is very tempting, but I don't think I can justify its price, even at a refurbished level. I have been using an SE 2020 for about 18 months, with strong consumer satisfaction. I am currently looking to upgrade Loved One's iPhone 7; neither of us is a gamer, but photography is very convenient and effective for us on both of the current handsets. From this comparison test of yours, I think we may hang off a little for the new SE that is heavily rumoured to be due, if its value-for-money is as keen as my current SE has been.
I just now seen your review, I got this Iphone SE 2020 as a 4 month sober gift am now 9 months sober. After 5 months of owning it I can say it has been a workhorse, I average about 7 to 8 hours of screen time with Moderate use. The battery has degraded about 3 percent. That was due to me charging it with a 20 watt fast charger. My personal experience I wouldn’t recommend any fast charger over 12W. Been using a 12W fast charger for about 3 months now and it charges it in less that 90 mins. Let alone the camera serves its purpose the screen is crisp and clear and good enough for the average consumer. Phone is super fast with its processor I’m a Big fan of the A series chips and the A13 does its job very well. These are all the pros, the only Con I have are the speakers. They are bit distorted and tingy when turned up all the way but a few notches down from full seem to work pretty well when taking a shower or cleaning in the same room. Lastly love the phone it was a 4 month gift from family member, 6 month gift from best friend was an IPad mini 4 and family got the Apple Watch series 6 for recently becoming 9 months sober. With all this said the sober life is a beautiful life and the best life in my opinion. So rewarding from a personal experience and rewarding in celebration of others giving gifts for one of the harder things to choose and change in life. This is a great video as always be well zolotech and I hope your staying healthy and safe.
Still using the XE 2016 model. Works great, budget phone, and gets updates. Love its compact design, but more screen would be eye friendly. My phone's battery life is good for me, but I would prefer more. Either one of these iPhones would exceed my expectations. Since there is no huge hurry to make a decision, I'll continue to watch the prices drop. One of these will be my next phone :)

I bought the mini coming from the xs. I thought the smaller size was perfect for my hand but had to return it the next day because it is just too small and my eyes aren’t as good as they were back in the day last time I had a screen that small which was the 5s. Got the 12 instead. Very happy with it.

It’s just as fast as the pro max a lot easier to hold and use with one hand and more comfortable to put in pocket takes great pics as well just a smaller display. Was thinking on the SE 2020 but went with the mini instead love the Face ID instead of the touch
I'm going to go with likely a 128GB 12 Mini. I've had both a black, and a siler iPhone in the past, so I'm probably going to go for either red, or blue. T-Mobile, which has merged with Sprint, doesn't offer the 12 Mini in the green color you showed here. I feel that 14.3GB of data would almost take up all of 64GB, hence, the $50 bump to 128GB. I like the rounded design, it reminds of the 4 and 5 series. Thanks for this very helpful video, Aaron.
The 12 mini looks like my iphone 5S, which still works great! People now think I have a pricy 2021 phone! But if I update, definitely Iphone SE 2, since it is faster than the iphone 12. SE´s faster speed is confirmed by other reviewers as well. Maybe we have reached technological maturation where incremental improvements just cannot justify exponential price increase anymore.
I replaced my iPhone 6 with an SE a few months ago and it's working well for me. I don't need a fancy camera and prefer to have a home button. When I heard there would be an iphone 12 mini I wondered if I had jumped the gun, but the price is way too high for me.
The PWM is a real complaint I had for the iPhone X when I first got it. I was only 22 when I got it and it genuinely gave me headaches and hurt my eyes. Adjusting it to be a more orange hue helped a lot but it was sad that I had to have an orange hue on something I paid extra to have a nicer display. Either way, I agree that the 12 series looks better and I have gotten used to it.
I have the SE 2020. Perfect for my hand. Fast and good battery life. I have the otter box for it, so not worried about breaking it. My SE 2nd Gen is Red! I thought I wouldn’t miss the night mode, but I do. And the base for my switch was that I remind me, that my phone before the p30 pro, it was the P9. Was completely dead in terms of battery health and software. That reminded me of how long my iPhone 4 lasted without lagging / hanging, namely from 2010 to 2017. Back then, my mother said I should buy the iPhone 7 rather than the Huawei p9, but I told her I would like to try something new (Android) and the Huawei was cheaper. 25 € per month and the iPhone 40 € as a contract. All in all, I regret, but not my decision at the time, because that's how I got to know Android and the P30 Pro was an incredibly good phone, the camera 1+ and the battery lasted 2 days.

I’m on the fence, between the mini or the 12 pro. I live the side of the mini but the 12 pro has a slightly better camera setup a larger screen and battery. I mainly listen to music and podcasts saved to the phone with about 2 hours a day 7am-7pm of on screen time. Curious to get you take of in your opinion if the camera is really worth the extra money? I'm considering moving from Android to iphone for the first time. I think the 12 mini might well be worth the learning curve.
I moved from a pixel 4 after only having androids and I’m loving the mini absolutely no regrets
I’d go for the mini because of the OLED screen and a14. Turning off 5G is a must to preserve that Tiny battery.
the 5G on the 12 phones are designed to use power conservatively...
Still drains it faster if you have it on
Jeffrey Vasquez can you take it off 5g? Because of health concerns
A B yeah you Should be able to turn it off just search up a tutorial
yes once you go oled its hard to go back to lcd.
12 mini is the best phone ever made by apple. perfect size, sleek, powerful
Except battery life. I would love to use it but I have to charge it 3 times a day-> used it a lot
@@foetor :/ Guess there’s always a downside to everything.
foetor which means you need to charge 12 or 12pro three times a day as well. What's so different
@@HeLithium The 12 mini has a much smaller battery physically, hence meaning shorter battery life than the 12, 12 Pro, etc.
@@HeLithium are you actually stupid? The 12 6.1, 12 pro and pro max have larger batteries which means they will last longer on a charge so less times needed to charge
Great comparison. I'm considering both of these right now. Probably going with the SE for now and seeing what phones look like in a few years if I want anything more extravagant.
I just ordered the iPhone SE Second Gen should be coming tomorrow I’m actually really looking forward to it, I bought a 6s few weeks ago which was my first iPhone and had a bad battery, so I swoped it out for a new one and I’m doing my home button died. But I’m glad to be upgrading to something that came out this year really looking forward to it
I can’t afford either but I am getting the XR for Christmas

I'm sensetive to OLED screens & PWM ( Pulse with modulation ) ... Thank you very much for saving my eyes !!
So am I.
Xiaomi LCD phones also dim the screen with PWM if you dim it below 60% brightness.
Did you get used to it or did you replace it?
if you didn't replace it how is the iPhone 12 mini till now?
I have the SE2 and the I was thinking about upgrading to the 12mini but after seeing your review, I barley see a difference for the price and I'm pretty let down by the camera on the mini tbh, it looks almost exactly the same except for in night mode and video which I could just use my new GoPro for... keeping the SE2 even tho the cant stand bezels... the home button and speed make up for it.
In terms of comparing screen real estate, it would be helpful if you show side-by-side screens scrolling though apps like Twitter (beyond just showing both phones' home pages)
I’m typing this from my mini and I never thought I was going to love this little thing so much and yes, I also just returned my 12 pro Max today.
After a few moths u still enjoying?
My favorite iPhone is 12 mini but I’m gonna hold on to my iPhone SE 1st gen..
ill wait next year or two when the price drops before ill by the mini, that would time to replace my se 1. either way, it is still supported until next year i guess and besides, the phone still does the job done and works even being 'obsolete' by then.
@@kenk5269 why so broke
@@metroishereyt6662 im just a casual user with the exemption on heavy games that is still playable at very decent settings like all apple arcade games i play, wildrift and other games such as bloodstained etc. no need to hurry to buy a new phone wherein your se can still do those all.
Technically the 12 Mini is better, being a newer phone. But, money-wise, the SE 2020 is a best buy!
Yeah, the 12 mini is an absolute beast. The only thing is the battery life. It's a bit shorter but quite robust on normal use.
@@optimatus. I was happy enough with the battery life on my 12 Mini. Much better than iPhone X. Now I bought the 13.
Se2 is my first iphone... really loving it and good at its price
I'll advice you to get iPhone 11 pro not the max it will meet your need and you'll stay happy trust me
@@saadsaddique632 I disagree. I would choose mini over the 11, I've had issues with my 11 and the battery sucks.
I think you’ve got that backwards. The iPhone 12 mini is the older style of SE with squared off edges.
I got iPhone SE 2 generation black
I bought the SE, first iPhone ever and I’m loving it. Will never go back to crapdroid for sure.
🤣🤣
I have the green iPhone 12 mini and it is just an absolute work of art. Sometimes I bust out the screen cleaner and microfiber cloth to get it nice and clean, and than I just stare at it and admire it for minutes on end.
So it's not just me then haha!
The only negative for me with the 12 mini is that poor battery life. I get its small but they could have boosted it just a bit more. That being said, i'd choose the 12 mini over SE because its got the most impressive specs. Its the perfect size and honestly is so powerful.
iPhone 13 mini: have I got a bridge to sell you…
I knew I had at least one fan out there !
I ended up getting the iPhone 12 mini and going from touch ID to face ID....I hate face ID and absolutely miss touch ID greatly....I can't even explain the difference but it's a major difference and touch ID is just a better overall experience to me as well
These two phones with the exact colors in the video are my most favorites.
I too had this dilemma. In the end I went with the 12 Mini for the flat edge design and 5g. I am very satisfied.
I recently upgraded from the original SC to the SE 2020, and I’m really enjoying the phone.

I’ve noticed after intense gameplay the se will have massive amounts of heat coming from the same area as the camera. Don’t know why exactly but the power button gets hotter than the back of the phone.
I bought the mini coming from the xs. I thought the smaller size was perfect for my hand but had to return it the next day because it is just too small and my eyes aren’t as good as they were back in the day last time I had a screen that small which was the 5s. Got the 12 instead. Very happy with it.

Same ended up getting 128g blue mini
I have the 12 pro max and needed a smaller one due to my job and got the 12 mini also.
I went with the iPhone 12 mini in green and I absolutely love it. An great upgrade from the SE 2020 I had.
I replaced my iPhone 6 with an SE a few months ago and it's working well for me. I don't need a fancy camera and prefer to have a home button. When I heard there would be an iphone 12 mini I wondered if I had jumped the gun, but the price is way too high for me.
Exactly. Why bother if you don’t need the features. I have gone from a 7 plus to an se and it seems perfectly fine.
Interesting point about PWM brightness control on the OLED display. It is perhaps a bit geeky, but it is something i didn’t know.
Oled makes me dizzy with migraines 😢
I have the SE 2020, I totally love it. It gets great battery. It just the right size too.

@@ColonelLucario I switched from the p30 Pro to the SE 2 and there are only two things on the SE 2 which I hate 1. Battery Life and second, that I have no Night Mode Camera.
