RIP...Saw him on TV in 1993, he was soooo funny! He came to Boston a few weeks later the weekend of Father's Day, I took my Dad & brothers to his show, we had such a great time. What a damn shame such a creative and insightful entertainer was taken away so young.
he worked very hard for his style. years and years in nowhereland with audiences not responding at all. brave guy. i think i should be clear about dennis -- we grew up together. he was my cousin. and i was very proud of his success. he was a hilarious guy. what i wanted to say is that his delivery and material came after years of very hard work and that he had the courage to follow his dream at a relatively late time of life compare to most stand ups. he had already been teaching 11 years in ny public schools when he started.
My favorite comedian ever. I saw him at the Irvine Improv in Irvine, CA around 1990. Never laughed that hard before or since. Truly, a great performer...gone way before his time. RIP.
Saw him in ann arbor Mi long ago maybe late 80’s.Funniest guy I have ever seen. Sides hurt, gasping for air, tears running down my face. Begging him to stop. A great one gone way too soon.
Yes that's always my favorite part too. I think this show was the first time I'd seen him. When he got to the part about resisting temptation when they see an attractive seat cause there'll always be another one I pretty much laughed my soul out onto the floor
I remember watching him with my dad when I was a kid in the 90s. Still holds ups. even better now, that I understand some of the jokes better. Absolutely great!!!!
Dennis Wolfberg's "HBO One-Night Stand" comedy special is split into three parts at UA-cam. Part 1 (8min 00sec, this video): Next-door hotel room and Dennis's teaching career, ua-cam.com/video/FBF_50Jjsg8/v-deo.html Part 2 (8min 48sec): Birth of his son and his marriage, ua-cam.com/video/7iDCJ3jcQFo/v-deo.html Part 3 (9min 12sec): Marriage continued and his health, ua-cam.com/video/P2aTxIWoF9Y/v-deo.html At 6min 40sec into Part 2, Dennis Wolfberg says that he is 43 when recording this show. On 3 Oct 1994, he died at age 48 from melanoma.
@@JonAhlquist , I know. It was uploaded into three parts because when it was it had to be. Now, of course, the entire special can be uploaded in its entirety. I also knew about his passing.. and the shame of it was he was in the middle of shooting a pilot for his own series.
Listening to Patrice O'Neal name Dennis Wolfberg as his favorite working comedian that he ever saw live in person on "Patrice O'Neal on O&A #71 - Asleep At The Wheel" brought me here.
Dennis was one of the greatest comedians ever! I have been looking for his work online for years! I was so looking forward to seeing him in person. Unfortunately, he passed away before he came to NJ. RIP Dennis!
I saw Dennis Wolfberg in person in the old comic strip in Manhattan many times. I was shocked to learn this young man with all his talent, passed away. He was the best, I can't think of anyone else that made me laugh as much as he did. Sometimes we had to leave early because of exhaustion from laughing so much.
Indeed ... in fact, the first time I heard him was in the background while I was trying to sleeeeeep and I started laughing so hard I peed in the bed... all without a 4 letter word
when his wife got pregnant he looked at her pregnant belly and claimed he knew it was his child; there was two bulging spots that he claimed were the outline of his baby's eyes.
Dennis Wolfberg was indeed a singularly funny fellow, in the world of academic comedy (no pun intended). He is sorely missed- he could whip Martin Lawrence, Lisa Lampinelli & Adam Sandler in one breath. L'chaim, Dennis.
I miss him. His recorded work is very limited as he did mostly guest shots on others shows (tonight show). I use to live in Culver City in the 90s and I remember one of my favorite resturants had an autographed photo of him on the wall. Thanks for posting this.
We saw him live in DC. One of the naturally funny comedians that airways makes me laugh. Gone too soon. Why do the most gifted comedians leave us so young?
One of the funniest guys there ever was. We shouldn't have had to lose him so soon. He might well have ended up on the very top run, which is populated by 10 or fewer people.
i had no idea gushie was so funny i love him him on quteum leap too bad they didn't have much written for him . he was really hileroius what a great Comedian it wasnt just the material but how delivered
L9NG ISLAND LOST A MAJOR TALENT THAT YEAR. GRATEFUL HE ONLY SUFFERED. 2 YRS. THANK YOU GOD FOR SHARING HIM EVEN THOUGH EVER SO SHORT OF A TIME. AND BLESS HIS FAMILY TOO
And his tongue going side to side. Great delivery and very creative use of language. Always makes me laugh till it hurts. That's a pretty fine legacy, the gift of laughter.
Watching this in 2020 is so interesting. Referring to an STI as a "Social Disease" and officially labeling a student as a moron or idiot are such relics from the past

What a great memory. Thanks for sharing.
Dennis was and still remains one of my favorite comedians!
He died far too young. Here it is 2021 and you are still making people laugh.
2024 now and had to come back and watch him again. Love this stand up special, still great.
I can watch Dennis anytime and I laugh so hard every time. His delivery was second to none as far as I am concerned!

JoJoGunn fuck you
+Jack Schimmelman Was the stuff about the public school true? Even if not, it was a riot.
@@jackschimmelman6355 Thanks for adding this insight. Dennis was absolutely incredible. Without compare.
RIP Dennis, gone much too soon! Loved you in the 80’s, and had my kid repeating parts of your act in the 2000’s.
I was fortunate enought to see Dennis live in Seattle. I always laugh when I watch him.
My favorite comedian ever. I saw him at the Irvine Improv in Irvine, CA around 1990. Never laughed that hard before or since. Truly, a great performer...gone way before his time. RIP.
He was one of those guys who made me laugh until it hurt. I had a chance to see him live - ringside table too.
I saw him too. Table right next to the stage also. My husband and I laughed so much. I will never forget that show.
@@lisanoone7402 Very envious but very happy for you.
I saw him at Igby’s in West LA. I seriously got frightened at one point that I was going to pass out in my seat from laughing so hysterically.

Keep 'em laughin' above the clouds Dennis...may a smile cross every face that views your work!!!
His writing, timing, and presentation were exquisite. Grade AAA+++
I remember watching him with my dad when I was a kid in the 90s.

I wish I could find the complete episode myself. He was one of my favorite comedians.... RIP, Dennis.

ua-cam.com/video/64QbwWpy_eU/v-deo.html -- this is the one where he talks about his eyes. I don't know if he mentions his wife's pregnancy.
One of the funniest comics who ever lived. Gone much too soon. I miss him.
I Miss Dennis Wolfberg!!!!

He was one of my absolute favorite comics back in the 80s.

Love Dennis, till this day I crack some of his comic lines and style among my old friends and it gets them every time. Great soul!

I just found out he passed away. He was really funny and it's a shame. Rest in peace.
Imagine him and Mitch up there on the same stage...awesome. Love em both...

A little Gilbert Godfried in his routine but easier on the ears. I remember watching this on T.V. 26 years ago.
I laugh so hard at Dennis that tears roll out of my eeyes. Damn, I miss that man!
I loved him, so funny.
Great comedian who died before his time.
RIP
I haven't seen the font they used for "DENNIS WOLFBERG" on anything but a Mexican restaurant menu since this was released.
he was great . problem is he died around the same time bill hicks died so bill gets all the comedy central tributes . they both were great and missed

Gushie! Center me on Marvin!
@chayhurst when and how did he die? i always wondered what happened to him
Colon cancer I think
His take on fiber was hilarious
I agree ---and im picky with comedy---
Comedy gold.
Gooshie from Quantum Leap.
Dennis was hilarious.
Not the coolest or angriest just funny as hell.
His name was More Marvin. Hilarious!
Not seen ANY of his brilliance since the early 90's! He & George Wallace did a unity tour after the LA riots! A clip exists via Entertainment Tonight.
can someone post some jay hickman plz
Wonder if the South Bronx was worse than the South Central schools?
@chayhurst Couldn't have said it better.
Gilbert Godfrieds father!
