I am only on the first unit, but have to put down that I 100% agree Meganobz are a great choice.
I recently won a 1750pt tournament of 9th edition using Deathskulls and three squads of five Meganobz w/Trukks
My experience was:
>Move them onto the middle objective/s turn 1/2, due to deathskulls they're objective secured and 2+/6++
>Keep them in cover or behind obscuring terrain where possible
>As soon as possible, get them OUT of the trukk. I lost two of the five to a trukk dying whilst embarked (obv, if you need the movement keep them in the Trukk)
>If your opponent doesn't want to advance onto the midline objectives, don't worry - they're capping primary points for you and therefore winning you the game
>If they do approach, show them why Orks are never beaten in battle
9th meta - just take anything that deletes the marines...
So true.
1. Boyz
2. Boyz
3. Boyz
4. Ghaz
5. Boyz
Lol poor ork boy. Got flicked off the table turn one
was only a grot;)
Thats why your going to have a revolution.
I've ran a gun wagon with a weird boy casting visions in the smoke, the red sunz power, and it's very vicious at killing primaris marines with the kill kannon
The real tier list as of 9th edition:
1st - Kaptain Badrukk
2nd - Big Mek With Shokk Attack gun (make him warlord with big killa boss and soupa cybork body)
3rd - Flash Gitz
4th - Lootaz
5th - Mek Gunz
(Go Freebootaz never be loozas)
If you haven’t already, please give the RedRolla a try. It’s amazing how much it can destroy ( especially combined with Maniakal Seizures) when it charges and it has become an auto include as of late.
I agree with a lot of these picks and their placement. I will note however that a Battlewagon is more flexible than a Bonebreaka. If you run Goffs or want to get into melee with the transport, the Bonebreaka is a great pick. A Battlewagon can also be given the Deffrolla for extra points but also has the Ard’case side grade to give it T8 for zero points extra however it loses its Open Topped ability. Standard Battlewagon with Forktress upgrade can be a great platform for 2 units of 10 Tankbustas, 2 units of 10 Burna Boyz, or any other shooting focused unit. Bonebreaka you get the extra melee ability but you lose out on transport capacity. I would say both the Bonebreaka and Battlewagon are on equal ground on the list. If you run either though, I would highly recommend bringing 3-4 other large threats as to split firepower so it’s not focused down by all the anti-tank firepower.
Agreed, an open topped Battlewagon with the Forktress job seems like the ideal platform to let Tankbustas shine
When are we going to get that glorious face reveal?
Also you should totally join in on the big battle royal that is going on between the UK warhammer channels, would love to see you partake.
Necrons and Orks best factions in 40k lets be honest with ourselves, and when I say best I mean coolest ahah although Necrons are very strong rn as r all 9th codexes, so we'll see what the 9th Ork codex will be like, kinda excited.
Unfortunately tankbustas in transports are no good anymore due to the transport rules changes in 9th. From the rulebook: "Unless specifically stated, abilities have no effects on units while they are embarked". Dakka! Dakka! Dakka! and Tank Hunters rules are listed in the Abilities part of the datasheet so they cant be used while they are embarked. Its a stupid rule but unfortunately it is the rules.
Also a Battlewagon can be given 'Ard Case to make it T8. If you just want a tough transport the Battlewagon with 'Ard Case is a cheaper option, it is 45 points cheaper than a Bonebreaker.
Exactly... This makes tankbustas so much worse...
If abilities don't apply, then bomb squigs aren't killed after they make their attack. Use this loophole to unleash bomb squig hell on your enemies. See if they'll ban abilities after that...
@@ninjabot567 you are wrong.
I always spend 2cp to put them on the Tellyporta since they then cant be targeted until after they arrive and Rocket Launcher is Assault so no issue on hit roll.
C'mon GW, care to explain why the meme-worthy, ridiculously over-armed Primaris Repulsor is a dedicated transport, but the crappy Battlewagon isn't?
favoratism
Wagon isn't a transport? That's dumb.
How many different armies can you mix and match in detachments? Like have a Battalion of one faction and then maybe bring a patrol of something else?
Not sure if anyone else feels this way but this video is pretty good unintentional ASMR
Boy's should have stayed at 7 points. With the changes to missions and the return of blast weapons they got nerfed enough without a points increase.
I think the Squiggoth might have good uses, very comparable to a Bonebreaker, but its Howda is even more friendly to tankbustas.
So tankbustas with rocket launchers in a trukk can just drive around and fire out of the open top? Why not throw 11 in a trukk with a big mek with KFF (the 12th guy) and you got a fairly durable, mobile, vehicle killer.
There's a rumour going around that I started in a pub that a new Ork codex will be announced in Orktober 2020 alongside the new minis, it will probably lift it from a tier 3 army to tier 2 with any luck. I thought you would include the 'Shokkjump Dragsta' either Evil Sunz or Bad Moons as it has somehow escaped the points nerf.
Transports and close combat/heavy weapon squads are good meta right now for charging units and contesting objectives
What’s your take on burna-bommers? Everyone seems to say they’re terrible but many ork tourney players run them.
Get out here ! Lol love it.
Awesome work Luke. Great choices! Nobody but Rippa could be number 1! He'z da boss for a reason! 🧙♂️

Love the TankBustas Buddy.. Inspired me to make my own.
WAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
The reason for taking Dredds over Mekgunz is simply the cost of buying the models. Here in Australia 4 x mekgunz will set you back $332.00!
There is a tutorial how to kitbash 4 mek gunz out of 1 kit of a trukk and 1 mek gun
I have always loved my wagons and anything like a nob. So mega nobs and bonebreakers sound really mean. Kommandos are great at coming late game. I play against alot of marines and things like them like chaos and necrons. Also there is 4 IG armies around my place. I'm the only ork player.
With the inexpensive upgrades on a warboss, who would ever take thraka?
Great Video! What would you suggest for a thousand points goff tournament-list?
Pre-watch - I really like Flash Gitz. Massively overpriced but brutally effective. Slap on more dakka and have some fun deleting a unit a turn - 2 if you're lucky. Not really worth their price still.
I also really like Nob Squads atm. Big Choppas on a unit, or Klaw+Choppa gives a survivable and killy unit. Still very, very expensive though.
I nearly always take Skarboyz when I run goffs too. CP intensive, but S5 is very handy against every target an ork blob would go after.
Thanks, subbed.
Put a nob with banner and make them freebooterz . Like mega nobz the battle wagon with supa kannon. Yeah like the tankbustas warboss I agree with
Why would you bring 3x big shoots and a kannon on the bone breakers? That's 30pts that I feel you could spend on more useful things rather than it's anemic shooting. That's 3 bomb squigs, or close to 2 more tank bustas! Its 5pts shy of another deffkopta, 3 additional boyz, and it's only 8pts shy of another meganob.
What 5 units would you take for a freebooter army? Any changes in your top 5?
My personal list top 5
1 Burna bomber
2 gaz
3 mek guns
4 mega nobz
5 shock jump
The Warboss explained in the Video is better. Its TONS cheaper and can use Grot Shields to survive.
benpid83 gaz is the only char in 40k who could take a hit from a warlord Titan and do 10x bigger punch back with 0 threat of dying
@@macaulaymcgregor768 4 wounds Psychic phase with 2 smites. 4 wounds shooting phase super easy if you have firepower. 4 wounds in Combat phase. Ghaz gone. that rule doesnt save him for long enough. Since he is a Monster. Gut Rippa ALL DAY LONG for me.
That's a good list.
and vehicles are great for tagging enemy units
But if you play the Deffkilla is not better? with the Speedwaaagh, you can advance and charge with Bonebreker or the bike.
Deffkilla already grants nearby bikers and vehicles the ability to charge after advancing, so if you pair him next to a Bonebreaker that would work. i do agree with Nielsen here as well, charging after advancing is great! especially for orks! but its not really mandatory
Are you gonna do ALL the imperium fractions? Like every space marine chapter? Or are you gonna be able to get through all the xenos first? Because I’m waiting for the notification that says TAU...
i personally hope that he does Xenos first, there's a million other channels that talk about the marines like this already... *and im already sick of 'em :P*
MEGANOB GUTZKRAKA are you sure we’re not psychic holy conneted?
@@Sollapoke maybe, maybe not, will be fun to see regardless
Great video, thank you for putting it together.
Any chance we could get a similar "must-have" units video for Thousand Sons, please?
You only have like 6 data sheets a easier shorter video would be which is the least op
good choice!
but the first place is for me another one
bigmek mit shok attack gun, why?
give him the relic one from vigilius and shoot 2d6
then the warlord trait for +1 to wound against vehicles and monster
4cp for dakka dakka on 5+ and let him shoot twice with vigilius stratagem
deathskull will trigger on both shots
this boy kills everything
in first round he kills mostly like 200-300p
Vigilus detachments aren't allowed at tournaments.
In 8th, the shock attack gun mek was a must pick. In 9th, he cant take the relic, or the detachment buffs, so he just isn't as good, especially if you're sinking cp into him every turn.
yeah they slapped the absolute shit outa Vigilus and Big Mek with SUSAG, that you don't bring anymore and it's sad. i miss flinging snotlings at people ALTHOUGH I WILL admit him being a must pick was also annoying.... almost like they should've tried to improve our other guns but hey what do i know im just a klumsy ork git
@@jf9626 oh i think i missed that, where can i finbd that its banned for tournaments? or that he cant take the relic
@@venom9341 Its in the Grand Tournament mission book, says no specialist detachments. Its fine if you play a Rulebook mission though.
Question: With the bonebreaker ram being +2 to hit.. do they explode on a 4+ with goffs?
i dont think Goffs effect vehicle melee but if it was then i think it still follows the rule of exploding 6's, since that's the case with Goff infantry's melee even if we land mostly on 3's and 4's
The Goff trait doesn't say "No vehicles or anything similar" and the bonebreaka does have the "Clan" keyword so i would imagine it does get the exploding 6's from the Goff clan rules.
@@demolition2922 yeah i just looked into it, the only thing that could be debated is it says "melee weapon" and im not sure say the base attacks of vehicles count as that or something else. either way it doesnt specify so anything that can melee can generate more attacks
@@meganobgutzkraka2398 yeah true. I just assumed anything that uses the weapon skill characteristic counts as melee. We shall see if anyone knows more haha
From the FAQ: "*Page 106, 108 and 121 - Deff rolla, Abilities Change to read:
‘Each time an attack is made with this weapon, the bearer has a WS characteristic of 2+ for that attack.’ So no to exploding hits on a 4+.
Seriously still no craftworld eldar? I havent seen any at all from you in ninth and its pretty disappointing
