    Well, here goes. Bought the V 5 unit. Was very excited to use it and get some really hard brakes. First thing I do is hook vacuum line to bleeder screw. I start pumping unit and hose pops off bleeder valve, spewing brake fluid everywhere. How it didn't get in my eyes is a miracle because it caught me completely off guard. I then try to reattach hose to bleeder but now brake fluid has made everything super slippery. Finally, I use the little yellow plastic fitting and have a measure of success, but by now I realize if I don't want a repeat of hose flying off, I'd better hold fitting to valve. This works until the plastic fitting gives way to pressure, I'm applying to hold fitting into valve. The fitting pretty much disintegrates. At this point I still have three brakes to bleed. I move to the driver rear, try again to use plastic black fitting over bleeder valve and start applying pressure to keep it from flying off. This goes better than the passenger side and I decide not to do the front brakes. Bear in mind, you're in a cramped space under the car, working with the aid of a flashlight. My pedal was stronger, and firmer, but it was a messy job. I'll try and do the front later when I'm a little calmer. Luckily when I drained the master cylinder there was still fluid in the cylinder, so I added fluid back to cylinder and said to myself, "forget about doing front brakes". I might add I was bleeding wheel cylinders for brake drums. And the pumping action left my hand sore. Just a heads up don't expect this to work as effortlessly as the video demonstration shows. It just ain't so. How, oh how I wished it was...

    Need to update video. I bought this in 2020 and the new model is more complicated. Called customer service to get some help, had to leave a voice mail! Called 3 times over an hour. Instruction manual is outdated too. Need a magnifying glass for the pictures. Website is outdated too. Pictures on site don't match the new model. I may have figured it out, but the "don't spend hours bleeding" has been replaced with "spend hours trying to figure out assembly." What a hassle.

    @karlakatie1522 Yes, all sediment should be removed from the master cylinder reservoir prior to bleeding your system. After removing the old fluid, be sure to “bench bleed” your master cylinder first (separately from the rest of the brake system, as shown in the video).

    Stacey David!!!!!!! I'm like a crowd of girls watching the Beatles for the first time, except I don't find Stacey attractive, but I remember him from Trucks in the early 2000s.

    What's the difference between V5 and V12 bleeder?

    Because for some people time is money, and if the technology is there why not use it? Much like the same reason I don't use manual post hole diggers when installing a fence. I use an auger on my tractor's PTO. Yes, set of diggers is cheaper and more simple, but sure as hell not as easy. With car brakes, I personally don't feel like dicking around with a 2nd person, yelling back and forth with the "pump pump hold release" bullshit.

    Just put some brake fluid in a new oiler and use it to push fluid in reverse...I did it and it works fine....and a lot cheaper

      Yes, just attach outlet line adapter to the bleeder

    why do you have to bench bleed why not just do reverse?

    • @bottmar1
      @bottmar1 9 років тому +4

      Actually bench bleeding is not necessary. (Perhaps it is on a very few newer cars) I own a pressure bleeder and install the master cylinder first so I know it fits for sure. If I know there is no air in the rest of the system I only bleed the master cylinder at it's fittings. If you have a good pedal you are done. This bench bleeding thing has been around for 35 years or so but is almost entirely unnecessary. It seems to be more of a tech. school mentality than a reality and to me it is a waste of time and ocattionally causes trouble when the master cylinder turns out to be the wrong one. If you do not bench bleed it may take a while for the master cyl. to start pumping for a normal (non-pressure) bleed procedure. Only several minute delay. 45 years as a mechanic.

    IT DOES NOT WORK ON MODERN VEHICLES WITH ABS, waste of money, i threw it in the trash, got a manual pressure bleeder. notice how he is bleeding on a old car, no abs, simple system

    Reverse brake bleeding will not work on modern vehicles. I bought this Pheonix System tried it myself waste of $300 dollars. The brake fluids in modern vehicles are meant to go only in one way direction which is down only. I had to use a vacuum bleeder to get the job done. Vacuum and pressure bleeder are the best and only way you can bleed brakes on modern vehicles.
