I met Doug at a random gas station in Santa Clara California... We were standing in line and I knew it was him.... I was like "Doug?" And he was like "yes?" Hahahah he was just as chill and kind as you can imagine. He let me on the van to say hi to the rest of the guys as I proceeded to fan boy like crazy.... I'm not usually star struck.... But for Doug. I had to thank him for all the music he has made to soundtrack my younger years and good vibes today...... Thank you again Doug!!!!!
Doug is from my hometown, so many people have good stories about him. My aunt told me out of nowhere the other day that she played basketball with him a couple times at our ymca lol.
@@bongdonkey agreed. I think these gals hold it down better than the Brazilian dudes from a few years back, but nothing will ever match the 3 guitar attack
@@bongdonkey Absolutely not. Best line up since the 5 piece 20 years ago by a long shot. The other trios, and the Brazilians,.looked like they were falling asleep on stage. The energy and joy these ladies bring is amazing.
Wouldnt call it underrated, its pretty heavily critically acclaimed. It DOES however deserve much more attention, as it (the band itself too) is not quite as popular as it should be
Doug, your music was featured in some very legendary skateboarding videos over the past few decades. That's how I "discovered" you... When I bought Keep it like a secret, I was instantly in love. Sooo many great albums filled my childhood.
I meat Cairo Foster and his goons here in Miami when I was a teen. They were filming in Brickell they gave me some boards and rolled out in a mini van. I met Kerry Getz also they were filming in civic center and I also met some guy named Danny wainwright. I miss skateboarding. It was when I felt true freedom. Before life pounded me into the ground

Wow!!!!!! This is the first “What’s in….” (I’ve been watching these videos for years) where I’ve never heard of the majority of the selections BUT loved every single one of ‘em. I want all of them AND I want to explore Built To Spill. Thanks Amoeba. Awesome.
Tennis also got that Broadcast album on their What’s in my Bag Episode (and a Built to Spill record lol)! Definitely worth listening to. I started listening to it because of that episode and it’s one of the best albums I’ve discovered this year.
@@FnorDiskordRekords completely agree, Adam from Swervedriver picked that one for their appearance on this which was sweet. Tender Buttons has been chosen at least a handful of times now and many of them lately for sure.
Tender Buttons is so so good. I was fortunate to see them live a year before Trish Passed. They were amazing, it was like a wall of sound, like really loud but in a perfect way. Trish had incredible charisma she basically just stood there and danced a little but you couldn't take your eyes off her. And the rest of the band played great.
Love the new band. Seen them a the Rev hall last year. So cool, my friend and I met the drummer before the show began and she asked us what songs we wanted to hear.. I requested "Hindsight". And they played great. Thanks, hoping to hit the show again in Nov portland.

Prism Bitch was insanely good live. Got to see them in 2022 in Charlotte. Thank you, Doug for introducing me to them. Fucking love you guys. Also, just recently got to see you again in Charlotte at the The Underground. I hope that you guys had a decent time even though nobody would fucking dance. Couldn't help but imagine how god damn depressing it must be, to travel the country and go to places like Charlotte, where people insist on standing there like zombies. Like. And not scowl at the people who are trying to have a good time. Just a thought. Please keep coming back. I will see you every time.
I think built to spill is my favorite band of all time - that being said - what's in my bag was done beat by gwar. Hands down. They weren't trying to show off or impress. Seems like that's impossible to do. It's more of the format that feels like a job interview I think.
