Keir Starmer Warns Of 'Painful' October Budget In Downing Street Speech

Sir Keir Starmer warned that the Budget will be “painful” as he hinted of tax rises to come.
In a speech delivered in the rose garden at No 10, the Prime Minister said he will make “big asks” of the public and ask people to “accept short-term pain for long-term good”.
Ahead of MPs returning to Westminster next week, Sir Keir said “those with the broadest shoulders should bear the heavier burden” and said he had “no other choice given the situation we’re in”.
