Nah, you give him to much credit. He didn't beat KR straight up. The only reason Ken didn't pass him at a walk and leave him in a cloud of dust is Ken knew he had to plan carefully and give him a wide berth or he'd do something batshit crazy and get them both killed.
How about, instead of a top guy, a rider who is clearly not competitive, but qualifies for the heat race on a fluke. That rider could gain a lot of notoriety and support by just repeatedly slamming into him.

He’s just a different person on that bike. My buddy Tommy Rice was like that. He put Bob Hannah into a fence post at Broome Tioga. Went after everyone , and he did get banned a couple times. You can’t change a guy like that. Old school bad mo fo
I love Vince friese for his determinitation to get up there and he is somebody that will truly do whatever it takes. But I would respect him way more if he accepted the role as the heal. Take the boos and role with it your already the most hated guy in moto you might as well wear it proudly and be the heal
In a way it is unfair as you don't see the same criticism toward someone like Bob Hannah, who at Unadilla, deliberately rammed Roger DeCoster IN THE AIR and crushed his pipe. But maybe that's because he was one of the greatest. The sport has definitely gotten softer since the '70's. 😂 Obviously an Old Dog here.
Those Boyz back in the 70s and 80s didn't play. I saw an interview one time years ago-- I think it was David Bailey -- who said he remembers racing the Europeans early on in his professional career and getting used as a berm! He learned from that. I agree...every thing is waaaay to soft these days. Friese could race back in those days....
Yeah but bob and Roger were of compatible talent abilities . Friese is second level talent , and uses unsportsmanlike tactics to defeat higher level talent . Holeshot , then fight and defend your position to the best of your ability as you make your way backwards . But don't do thiese shit show , disrespectful , side show tatics .
If Hannah never won a race in his 15 year career, people WOULD criticize him for being a hack. That's the difference. All the other riders win. Friese has never won and he crashes people that do.

No one can convince me friese shouldn’t be banned. I cant recall even a remotely clean pass ever from him. He’s torpedoed virtually every rider in the sport . Almost killed Christian Craig. Took out deano multiple times. He was involved in 3 accidents this past week. He’s dangerous to the riders and to the current and future stars of this sport. Yea..he’s determined. He’s determined to eventually break someone’s femur..or worse. And the guy has improved but so f’n what? He’s a twat.
I agree he is rides desperate and have NO PROBLEM with holding people up, give them NOTHING and I have no problem with taking people wide or hell even off the track (be smart when passing him).... I think the only thing people have a problem with is the crazy break your leg T Bones and shit that will get someone hurt like cross jumping....

Friese rides normal motocross. Watch the TV video of the 1983 Daytona sx. This is what sx and motocross was originally like. Listen to the announcers. Motocross and sx were definitely contact racing. That was before you started having all of these whiny crying babies who race today.
The difference is now the bikes are 10x as fast and the techniques are 10x as fast and therefore the shit he does is 100x as dangerous. He’s a racer, why not put the blame on the mistakes the other riders make by putting themselves in the position to be taken out. Motocross is only a soft sport in the Merica, European riders know how to ride defensive and protect their lines and realize failure to ride defensive against a competitive rider will not end up nice. Brake check, wide elbows, bang some bars and don’t be so pussywhipped and snivel when you get parked because you failed to defend, only one rider wins the race 🏆 Spoiled entitled whimps and it shows by losing 12 of the last 13 MXoN events against the world elite.
