Measuring For Your Security Door by First Impression Ironworks Nationwide

Hi this is Jennifer Pittman with First Impression Ironworks. Getting just the right fit for your iron security door starts with a simple set of measurements. To get started, you'll just need a simple tool that you're bound to find around your house, a tape measure. So, grab your tape measure along with a pen and paper and we'll show you the simple steps to get started. Just keep in mind that First Impression Ironworks will be building your custom security door specifically for your home. One of our design specialist will guide you through the final measuring process, as well as design selection with your free design consultation. So, we'll be measuring both the width and the height of your opening. For an iron security door, you'll be measuring from the outside of your home. Now, let's review the measuring of the width. You'll start at the inner edge of the trim or stucco to the opposite edge of the trim or stucco. Do this near the bottom of the door opening first. Mark down this measurement. Then do again from the left to the right at the center of the opening. And finally, one more time, measuring from the left to the right near the top of the opening. These three measurements will likely be the same, but don't worry if they're slightly different. Remember, you're taking these measurements of the opening from the outside of your home. Let's move on to the height of your door. Start at the bottom left of your opening at the stoop. And measure up to the interior trim or stucco at the top of your opening. Write down this measurement. Now take two more measurements just like you did from the top to the bottom, then now at the center of your opening, and one last time at the right side of your opening.
