The book of Job js a perfect example of this verse.
It’s not just crucifying the flesh, it’s crucifying my entire life. I have to destroy everything that has been an interest, desire, or passion. Anything that is a passion inside of me, has to be destroyed.
I’ve done this all of my adult life.
I’m 68 years old now. No marriage, no children, no family.
I look back and everything is ashes.
I’ve never had a career. All of that stopped over 45 years ago. When I did get married, I was 46 years old. Because of what I destroyed in my life, I was completely unprepared to be the provider for my wife. That marriage was destroyed because of this.
All I want to know now, is if it’s possible to experience even a modest amount of prosperity so I can pay my bills. What I experience today is a life of disappointment, despondency, and despair. I’ll be faithful to God until my last breath on this earth. But it’s a miserable life. It is what it is.
If I did develop a passion for anything, my concern is that it might be an act of rebellion to have that passion. It’s unknowable.

The fasting has definitely been difficult 😅 I found out it was electrolytes, though! After a little over a month, I guess I was low on them, but drinking Gatorade/poweraide has been helping so much.
