      Get a new tyre pressure gauge if you think thats 15 psi, there's no bagging out of the tyre at all,for slow speed in a pinch you can go down to 7 psi,makes a massive difference over 15 psi if you're stuck,on sand momentum is key,"letting it do it's thing" shows absolutely no idea of what your doing on sand

    Mine has this function, it's called a driver that knows how to drive a 4x4 in sand.

    Even with standard shitty tires. Toyota 4x4 have always been the gold standard in capability and reliability.

    I agree with letting air out some to get traction. I sand drags for years and would run low air pressure all the time.

      Yep. Running 17psi here. If we're spending the day on the sand we run 10 psi but this day was dirt roads 95% of the day.
      The whole point of this was to set the vehicles crawl control at it's slowest speed and see if it would still keep moving up hill

    1: air your tires out
    2. The amount of debris in the treads give you, suggestively, less friction

    Crawling in sand is the prequel to stuck in sand. Back out, air down to 7lbs and then hammer down. If you have an automatic transmission, use low range and 3rd gear. Wheel speed usually helps.

    Subaru can do this, with tire-pressure-down mode and turn-steering-left-right mode combined.

    The tire is actually digging down to the wet sand and gaining traction bagging the tires gives it more area to create friction!

    Not a fan of wheeling in the sand.
    I guess the advantage of it over mud if you have to hook Chains up you're not going to get filthy

    Yeah but if it's that bad you should let a lot of the air out of the tires.
    A lot of people don't know because most Wranglers can't do this, but the Cherokee Trailhawk can do that too.

    Seems like the new electronic system on all wheel drives just park themselves in sand. Brake lock. Matt's Offroad Recovery pulls tons of them. Of course this is at least a true 4x4 system on the Toyota. Tire for sand and rock might be Milestar Patagonia. Sure seems to work in Utah.

    I buried my 4runner last the hubs in sand one time. ATRAC and airing down to 18psi pulled it right out.

      You can control the speed in the Toyotas and Jeeps. Up to 6mph

      @@discover4x4 right, but they've been the same since 2010 😂. Just curious if crawl control today is different than what was released in '08, and if so what the difference is across the years. Hopefully someone well versed with these models can answer, (because we all know the LeArN tO dRiVe crowd will be commenting soon) lol. Was on a new beach yesterday and got stuck for the first time in 22 years of beach cruising. Lol been in the market for a jeep or something and while i wasn't a TJ, they're not really well suited to fit my family, and my cj-8 certainly isn't(not what i got stuck in). Lol

    That's the complete wrong tactic IMHO. You never want to lose vehicle speed the the sand. Back down and get a good run up keep the wheels from spinning too much.

      @@discover4x4 let out some of the air from the tyres once off the tarmac road. Swivelling the tyres back and forth a little bit while in motion helps avoid getting stuck.
