  • In this second episode, I am going to design the structure of our big 3d printer, the Architects3DP MEGA.
Also we will unbox the different components of the structure, consisting in 40 x 40 mm aluminium extruded profiles from SINERGES, the company sponsoring this video.
With the modular industrial system item, and its online engineering tool, we are able to design our structure using the components from item in their platform. You can check out the item engineering tool here:

The Architects3DP MEGA is our most ambitious project so far here at Architects3DP. With this series, I'm gonna show you how to build a big 3D Printer, but also with industrial quality components for a low price.
Due to the BIG size of the Architects3DP MEGA 3D Printer, you'll be able to print with dual extruders, big size objects in real life scale.
Almost all printers of this size, will cost you a fortune. However, you will be able to build the Architects3DP MEGA while keeping approximately the cost of the Ultimaker 3. Notwithstanding, you will get x38 times the build volume of the Ultimaker 3 for the same price. Crazy!!
Buy an Ultimaker 3 here: amzn.to/2YAEfJy
Instead, if you want a standard size 3D Printer, definitively check out our Architects3DP i3 series, where we built a 250 x 240 x 200 mm DIY good quality 3D Printer for under $200.

Hello makers, UPDATE: I've added the link (in the description) to my finished project in the Engineering Tool, where you can get access to the final build. (Remember to add extra screws and bolts according to the BOM) Check it out here: bit.ly/2Zif4zI

Hi, just tried to have a look, and I can't see how to check the cost. The only button i see is for asking for a quote? Is there a way to simply do an estimate?

I just finished building my own 520x520mm printer. For the robot droid guys, we need to be able to print 510mm wide, how hard would it be to modify this printer to 520mm wide? I hope it has lots of vibration damping so we can print fast without ringing.

I want to see you print FAST on that beast, I'm talking 200-300mm/s at 2000mm/s²+ acceleration

Hello there ,I'm new in your channel ,i find the build of this something i would like to maybe try and hopefully become a patron for this reason as well ,I seen a few of the videos but is there a way you can post the amount of money you have spend on each part?? Thank you so much for making builds like this possible

    • @architects3dp
      @architects3dp  4 роки тому

Thanks for your comment Enrique. You have a link in the description of every episode, that will take you to the BOM or Bill Of Materials. You can see the total price from each brans on each document tab. I'll also create a new tab collecting the total. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the great video and the good explanation. I'm looking forward to the next episodes.
Currently I am dealing with 2 questions: Can I print later with the printer ABS, so the print bed gets enough heat?
Is a autobed leveling planned? And currently I've looked at the aluminum profiles at item, is there a file from the Engineering Tool to see better recognize the connection technology?
    Thanks you for your work

Dear mhwaw2211, I'm sorry for my late reply.
      1. I'm planning to make an enclosure to keep the printing chamber warm, and also add a heated bed. It's still not clear how It'll be made, but I guess it will be possible.
      2. Yes, I'm gonna be using and IR probe from Duet 3D to make the auto bed leveling.
      3. I've updated the description of the second episode of this series. There I added a link that will bring you to my finished project in the engineering tool, where you can view, edit it, add it to the cart and make the checkout, etc.
      I hope this helped you.
      All the best.
      Mateo
