This is the review i was waiting for. From a mountain bikers perspective and without ego. Aventon has a big bike shop presence so im hoping to test one out. I really want a full suspension ebike but they just arent cheap enough right now. The one downside of the Ramblas is I'd want to change out the fork before the first ride.
I watch a lot of reviews and I must say you do an outstanding job! Quick, interesting and to the point. You bring up considerations of the Ramblas that no other reviewer is touching on. Great job and thank you!
Thanks for the review! I tested out the Trek Marlin+ 6 with the Bosch Active Line Plus motor the other day and loved it. I then saw an ad for the Aventon Ramblas the next day! They have the exact same MSRP of about 2700 USD. The Ramblas has double the torque (50nm vs 100nm), and much longer distance capability. I would love to see a head to head comparison between the two since they are very similar and the price point is the same. The weight is only a few pounds more for the Ramblas, and for so much more distance and torque. it makes me think its a no brainer, but I am brand new to ebikes. For me personally, I am not doing anything crazy on a mountain trail. I'd like to take it there and ride without fear of ruining everything. I won't go fast and a dropper post isn't necessary for me. I will probably do 50% riding on pavement, 40% riding on dirt/natural trails fairly flat, and 10% on technical trails. This will be my first ebike. I am a big guy at over 6 feet tall and over 275 pounds. What are your initial thoughts?
My initial thoughts would be that you need to spend as much as you can on your bike being able to carry your weight. I wouldn’t even worry about a motor yet
@crocsrus3218 I'm 290lb and have taken the ramblas on two hard rides so far. Nothing crazy but a few 6-8" drops and plenty of rock gardens and hard climbs. If you plan to do really hard climbs you will need the extra torque. My wife's bike with 65nm couldn't take me up some of my local trails and I had to walk it. The ramblas has torque for days and with a 50t Granny gear there is no slope it can't climb. I would pull the trigger before the prices start going up if you haven't. I will say the tires are not ideal for pavement so you might need new rubber before long if you spend most of your time on the street. They have been very sure footed on said loose climbs though.
My two hobbies are RC cars and ebikes. Never knew you had an ebike channel! Awesome to see. Might be picking up this bike soon. My two aventures are great. Looking to enjoy the trails even more with a ramblas.
RC and Ebikes... very cool indeed and leads to a happy and fulfilled life. If you pick it up, make sure to use this link Aventon Ramblas - alnk.to/4fPQH7g
Great job... We have Aventures that we "beat" off road... This may be a nice alternative. I wonder if they have a full suspension in the works? Your enthusiasm is infectious!
Looks like an awesome bike. I would buy one but bought my trek powerfly 4 last year and I love it. I have been watching your rc channel for years.... never knew you had this channel. I have a ebike channel I started also
Please find more information about what's inside the in-house Aventon A-100 motor. Does the A-100 motor have steel of nylon gearing? The bottom line for me, all comes down to how good (or not so good) the A-100 motor is. As far as what went into building the motor in-house, and how it compares (or not) to the Bosch or Shimano motors. If Aventon releases some information about what's in the A-100 motor, they will stand to really make the Ramblas even more impressive than it already is. If Aventon doesn't give us the internal specs of their in-house A-100 motor, then we can only assume that they had to cut some costs in the engineering of the motor, to keep the bike at a sub $3K bike.
I think they may be slightly ahead of the game with their new motor design. 6 months or so. At the end of the year I’m sure we’ll see more similarly designed motors
For the fork you just need to order a stiffer or lighter spring which is pretty easy to swap out. The bike is heavy due to all the heavier parts and a giant battery, which makes sense at this price point. Although if one wants to spend the money, upgrading the fork, wheels, tires and so on would start dropping the weight below 50lbs pretty quickly.
Could you just put a heavier set of springs in these forks, instead of replacing the entire assembly? I’m really liking this bike, but I’m a little concerned about the untested motor they have in it. Seems like it might be a good idea to wait a little while and make sure they don’t have any major issues.
I got a 12.8 volt 50amh LifePo4 battery. The LifePo4 battery will be connected to an 1500 watt inverter for an ac output of 110volt I'm using an 54.7 volt ebike charger , will the 54.7 volt do damage to the LifePo4 battery?
actually no specialized bikes are better. the only good thing about specialized is maybe their customer service. i have a tero 5.0 and the other day a cheap brand ebike was going faster than me and for less money

I hopped on one last night for a very short test on pavement. Really nice!

Excellent review. I’ll make sure to click your link when I decide to purchase.
First MTB/eMTB review I've seen with a leaderboard 2:56, love this feature of your channel. 👏
The way you do your comparisons using the same average power is next level. 🙌
Glad you think so!

Fine review, especially the hill climb.
best review on this bike, Thank you!!

I can't buy this bike because of that A-100 motor. All that torque doesn't mean jack to me if it's just a Harbor Freight motor.

What do you think about derestricting this bike? I’m looking for a commuter/MTB and 20 mph just doesn’t cut it for commuting on roads.
You need to review the Async H7XC, 500 watts mid-drive, but 130Nm of torque. And, it's carbon fiber.

Keeps getting better! Very soon....analog will be ancient history, just like rigid bikes.

what is the weight of it?
Wow , I like it !
Glad you like it! Kinda surprised us as well.
@@EMTBReview definitely interested in all that Power ! 😆
It makes sense to buy from a sealer
What is the rim internal width ?
Santa Teresa County Park found out about your videos and wants to talk to you about usage fees😂
Does the charging cut off when a full charge is reached, or do you have to keep a close eye on it so it won't overcharge?
The charging will cut off when done. It will never overcharge, similar to an iphone.
@@EMTBReview Thanks, that's great to know.
Hello sir how much? From Philippines 🙏❤️
They are not just direct to consumer they have over 1000 dealers!
Good to know. That is certainly growing. It’s key for e-bikes to have dealer support imho
How do you like this bike compared to the Trek Marlin +?
This bike is way faster up the hills and it is a bit harsher on the rough descents. Comparison coming soon.
@@EMTBReview cool , I am thinking a hardtail emtb would be perfect for Ohio trails, moderate to XC. Looking forward to the comparison.
Is the rattling motor a deal breaker?
No, definitely not a big deal. It's like Shimano motors and it disappears if this is the only mtb you ride.
what is the key for?
Battery
I got a 12.8 volt 50amh LifePo4 battery.
The LifePo4 battery will be connected to an 1500 watt inverter for an ac output of 110volt
I'm using an 54.7 volt ebike charger , will the 54.7 volt do damage to the LifePo4 battery?
Make a fulsus
I am sure they are working on that right now. That is the core of the emtb market
I’m not that familiar with the wide variety of electric motors, but it seems like this bike’s motor is a bit noisy and whines…?
56lbs 9:20
I want 1700wh
Looks like a Yamaha
It’s a hard tail rendering it pointless for MTB.
I'm not sure everyone ride like you in your extreme terrain.
hardtail = very sore after ride
What if you added a Suntour suspension seat post? Just askin' as I'm pretty new to this, but like this price point.
@@tonygiancoli9626
That’s my plan. I have a suntour suspension seat post on a trek, analog bike, and I figured I’d just swap it over to the Aventon.
Specialized Turbo Vado better. ✅
The turbo Vado is not a mountain bike, more so a hybrid cruiser.
I mean it’s double the price of this bike lol.
@@HawkAlumn
Porsche Macan is double the price of a RAV4. 😊

Cool bike for the price.....too bad it cannot be charged on the go.....via a pak of some sort....
Great balanced review. The bike, meh.
