    It is definitely the method most need to know! Raising the scalps ph, and cuticle layers are going to cause some friction. However bringing that ph down slowly with a moisturizing shampoo, will bring those cuticles down, and making your conditioner more efficient because it doesn’t have to do so much work. I discovered this tip a while ago, and it has definitely changed the game even when I don’t wash my hair for more than 7 days

      I never knew this until recently. On IG, I ran into a natural hair stylist that does the clarifying, and then the moisturizing shampoo. It’s really been a game changer for me when I wash. I don’t know why more influencers don’t talk about this. So now I tend to watch more professionals like you to see what their process is. People like Nappy Fu and Green Beauty are so underrepresented in the natural hair spectrum.

      Ms Vanntastic, Do u do this process each time the client is getting service? Is this weekly, bi weekly or monthly. I was under the understanding that hair is not suppose to be clarified often and that that isn't good for the hair? Help!

    • @06van
      @06van 3 роки тому +9

      @@crystaljackson240 Mr… and if you follow up with the moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner then you’ll also add more moisture and seal when styling; I don’t notice it causing any harm my clients also don’t mention anything about dryness during consultations. I also feel like your hair is better prepared for the moisture when it’s completely cleansed. My clients usually come every two weeks. Also try what works for you. If you feel like it’s making your hair dry don’t do it.

    This is the exact process I follow now. I learned from natural hair stylists on IG. The saturation, the shampooing from a cleansing and moisturizing shampoos, and the raking were all from different stylists lol. My hair used to tangle so bad when I shampooed and I wondered why. I use to loose so much hair and now I know why. The raking in a downward direction is a game changer. Another one is applying a leave-in conditioner in the shower and raking it through, throwing on a shower cap and then showering to let it sink into the hair and let the steam work through. I wish I knew all these things years ago because I would have hair down to my ankles right now. Thanks girl. You’re a real one. 💜

    OKAY! if anyone wanted to know how well this method actually works👏🏾let me tell you (😂 nappyfu is probably gonna kill me). But after watching this video I tried this technique on my hair that’s been hiding under a wig for a month (I’m a junior in college lol don’t judge) NO detangling, low moisture etc !! And this technique cut my wash day IN HALF. I jumped straight in the shower (without detangling beforehand) and immediately got to work with this technique. Most of the shed hair came out and it was a lot easier to finish my wash day than I thought😇 I can’t wait to wash my hair again Bc Ik it’ll be SO quick with week ago hair that is already moisturized. ♥️ thank you nappyfu for sharing this technique and I 100% recommend you guys try it (p.s. No lie I just discovered this too about my 4c hair and shampooing, & I’ve been natural for 5 years 😩. I would use the black soap shampoo from Shea moisture religiously each wash because I like that it really left my scalp and hair feeling clean but my hair would be tangled and stripped. I bought a moisturizing shampoo and my wash days have been less painstakingly long and easy to detangle. Now I only use the black soap shampoo when I need a good cleansing. Absolute game changer!

  • @anthonymarshall2012
    @anthonymarshall2012 3 роки тому +18

    All the foam from the shampoo helps my hair separate. I think black people got this idea that we can take shampoo and just rub it in all over our head. But I find smoothing it and using it almost like a conditioner works better to avoid tangles. I also heard of the clarifying and then moisturizing shampoo trick and it works well as well. I also like to leave moisturizing shampoos on like a mask for maybe 3 minutes so they can really clean and moisturize.

      oh no.... I don't envy you at all. Get you a mirror. Amazon prime Netflix, Disney Plus, Tivo whatever and a whole 24 hours to take down and detangle with oil and butter. Start with your fingers, a wide-tooth comb then go down to a medium tooth comb then a small tooth comb and then a tangle teezer or a tangle angel. Then add you a store-bought pre-poo. Then clarify that hair twice and then use a moisturising shampoo and moisturising deep conditioner. The next week add in some Olaplex and some protein shampoo and conditioner mixed together. Then go back to the moisture routine. When I could get braids ( no more due to scalp problems but I'm old) I only used to get them in for 12 weeks. Then wear my own hair for 2-4 weeks before putting them back in. If I was in your position that is how I would take them down and detangle my hair... your hair needs to be detangled before any shampoo or wet conditioner hits it...otherwise matting!!! Good luck.

I must admit, it was muchhhh easier and I was able to limit my tangles well. Then I deep conditioned and left it for about an hour, rinsed and gave myself a braid out. 2 whole Netflix series later 😂😂
      I’m still searching for a clarify/moisturize shampoo combo (if you have some suggestions, feel free), but as of now I’m using the design essentials avocado/almond. It doesn’t cause as many tangles as other shampoos do.
      I have a pretty strict regimen and keep my styles in for about a month and a half with several months in between and when it’s out I deep condition every 3 weeks and shampoo every 6. I’ve just been traveling a lot while the country opened up and natural hair on vacation is too much for me.

    It's amazing how your hair journey can take so many twists and turns. I've been washing my hair in sections for years but recently due to not wanting to step out of the bathroom to get my clips..I ended up washing it without them and the earth didnt shatter! It didnt slow me down in any way and I saved my hair from the snagging of the clips. I still focus on one area at a time but now there's no margin also all my hair gets rinsed at the same time and it feels happy. I've even dared to let my hair air dry out of sections and shrink down. I was almost scared cause I usually never allow that and I was amazed by how easy it was for me to handle my hair. I've gained alot of experience over the years, been through many set backs and I can honestly say that I enjoy doing my hair now. I keep things simple and try to be consistent. I wash weekly, avoid intricate hairstyles and I always try to be gentle.

    Latoya Ebony showed this method in her latest video. I plan to try this for my next wash day. TressesofAlexis and SheRea DelSol double cleanse as well but usually with different products (clay wash w/ cowash or clay wash with shampoo). So I have done clay wash and shampoo. But not the 2 types of shampoos. Thanks!

    Using a moisturizing shampoo after a all purpose or clarifying shampoo starts to lay the cuticles down so detangling and conditioning is easier. More cleansing shampoos blast the cuticles open so it's important to close them! Great video 😊

I always finger detangle during shampooing as well, and my conditioning process takes at max five minutes when my hair is split in half. I love it! My hair has been thicker than ever.

    I wash my hair then put deep conditioner and I don't comb my hair until I'm rinsing out the condition under the water and when I tell you this method changed my life. I'm like I've been natural since 2016 and I have a lot of hair which tangles on itself; I probably have 10 hairs out of each root lol but my hair is tailbone length as well; but I have NEVER been able to comb my hair quickly. I use the denman paddle brush to comb and rinse my deep conditioner out under the running water and wha la, gurl, it's like magic.

This has made detangling a breeze, especially if I detangle in the shower as well. Next time I wash, I will definitely consciously try this method and see of it reduces my tangles anymore.

I washed my hair in no sections all forward in one swoop. Detailing forward in one direction as I washed I’m so happy 😀 I can wash my hair anytime I want now. All the shed hair falls all out as you are washing and lite detangling. The shed hair is always the problem for me so by me soaking that hair with water 🚿 and opening up that hair with my fingers let’s all the shed hair out. I still do in loose twist (just a few); undo the twist, which is easy to do when they are loose & soaking wet, wash, yes always in the way the hair grows with my fingers pulling the shampoo through the strands. Then let the water run down the now all open strands. The conditioning step is easier & the detangeing with the conditioner. Any knots are smoothed out with the water flowing down the deep conditioned hair.

    I will say... in my opinion and as a male who came to natural hair a decade after sisters paved the way but also wasn't paying attention when my sisters and cousins were learning... a reason professionals don't have to wash in twists... is because they have a better perspective of the entire head and have more facility to do what needs to be done... professionals have you sitting, leaning back into a sink, where gravity is aiding the water in stretching the coils as they scrub the scalp and continue detangling and such.
    That is what I've noticed, not to discredit what had been said, but my observations.
