- Hello there, Wayfarers! Most of our dead mall videos feature malls from California--however, today we've got a double feature from the East Coast. In December 2017 (while on a hometown visit for Christmas), we took a tour of two Massachusetts dead malls, the Silver City Galleria in Taunton and the Walpole Mall in (you guessed it) Walpole.
As one of us was a former employee of the Silver City Galleria Sears who remembers opening day back in 1992, it was especially tough to return home to see this great retail behemoth reduced to a struggling shell. The future doesn't look bright for Silver City--each time we've come back home to visit, it's in even more dire straits.
While roaming the area in 0 degree weather that particular week, we were also able to capture the tiny Walpole Mall as a bonus. Thanks for watching and feel free to share any memories you have of these malls in the comments below!

I can’t believe how dead the Silver City Galleria has become. I use to stop by there at least once a week on my way home from work.
& now it’s gone.
Rip to my childhood I’ll miss you Silver City Galleria
It was huge!! Wow I remember watching it develope then impatiently waiting for it to open
The Walpole Mall corridor used to go much farther but it’s been cut back over the years.
I hope round 1 stays around, not many things to do on Cape Cod and this was one of my getaway places for a day to hang out with the guys
they got a 5 year contract so I heard.
@@thedayzgod oh I hope so
As for The Walpole Mall, after the Dream Machine, the mall used to go further down, but there's a big white wall there and stores like JoAnn and Petsmart now have taken the spot of the original 2nd mall enterance and the other half of the mall that's now blocked off. When the mall went further down, there was a Hallmark on the left, a Radio Shack on the right and at the end of that hall would be the enterance to Kohl's. Also back the other way where you saw the Payless, that Payless used to be KB Toys. Payless used to be next to Hallmark and next to KB Toys was Record Town. The Wine & Spirits at the mall enterance on the way out was a Country Buffet. The missing 2nd enterance used to be a Papa Gino's on the right and a IParty on the left and down the hall a little on the right was a Lord & Lady's before u come to the point where it comes to the end and you'll have to go either left or right. In 1987 when u come into the now 2nd missing mall enterance, after Papa Gino's there was a music store called Good Vibrations. In 1991, they moved to where the Dream Machine is now but it was changed to Record Town. Record Town then moved down the hall next to KB Toys in 1997.
The FYE was never a Sam Goody. It was originally Wall To Wall Music and then it was just The Wall. Spencers was directly to the left of The Wall to the corner and it was a very small store. In 2002 Spencers moved upstairs and when The Wall was bought out, it was changed to FYE and the wall that separated FYE and Spencers was half taken down and FYE expanded into the old Spencers. The original enterance to The Wall was replaced by big glass windows and the new enterance to FYE was moved to the corner where the Spencers enterance used to be.
Correction: Spencers was to the right of The Wall, not the left
I still go there
Always enjoy it while you can it looks so empty now :(

yup best buy did add the doors and was a tj max with the elevator to the basement, also grew up going to this mall every weekend sad to see what it has become
I had my first job at this mall in 2006. Working at a store called Tuesday Morning, which was formally Filenes Basement. The store closed in december 2006 and i think Best Buy ended up using it as a warehouse after it closed. But i remember all the stores that had been in that mall which have left since 2006. Its so sad to see the state its in now. I still walk around that mall today and namd what every vacant store used to be
Just drove by today.
It's gone.
Round 1 had formally been Steve and Barrys sportswear
