The real issue is that some people should experience life outside Switzerland 🇨🇭 before commenting on life here. Spend a couple of years with a regular job in Italy or Spain, and then we can talk about "careful budgeting." People in Switzerland have a completely different lifestyle. When it comes to budgeting, they often decide between spending two weeks in Hawaii or saving money by opting for a trip to Porto. In Italy, the choices can be much tougher, like deciding between paying the rent or buying a new book for your child’s birthday.
Healthcare standard rankings put Switzerland pretty much at the top of every list world wide. We have basically the most advanced medicine, accessible to everyone. Insurance is mandatory and you will have to pay some franchise model dependent overhead, but in the worst case that goes into the low tousands and caps per year. There is ZERO chance of anyone getting a 100k bill like in the USA. I never heard of anyone going broke because healthcare costs here. Groceries on the other hand ... lol. It's a very expensive country, I can't imagine how people get by with less than 80k here, especially if the have a family etc.
Live in NYC, visited Switzerland recently, and I could not generally speaking see a huge price different between the two places for the cost of living (obviously there are some differences). This video kind of reinforces that. The main difference being housing, in NYC a shitbox is usually below 2k, something decent is closer to 3k. Obviously, if your employer doesn't provide good health insurance, then you are on the hook for very expensive healthcare. Alas, just as the video notes, you could get by in NYC with about 80k to have an ok life, where you can go on vacation and such. Likewise, if you don't manage yourself well, then that money is easily gone. Lastly, although NYC has a great nightlife, and lots of cultural events. The quality of life does not come close to what I witnessed in Zurich. From my short experience, the place is just a step above on many of these aspects.

I don't understand your income tax calculation. You calculated it after all the expenses were deducted. Are income taxes charged on the basis of annual gross income or income after expenses?
As a Swiss you pay taxes annually. This means that you have to save an amount during the year in order to be able to pay the large annual tax bill. Of course the tax is calculated on the income. As a person who comes to Switzerland as a foreigner and works here, you pay taxes monthly. The Swiss tax system makes distinctions here.
income tax can vary from about 0.5 x-2x your gross monthly income per year depending in which city you live. Each city has its own tax rate so you will never see a general statement.

Zurich or Geneva both are very expensive for a tourist and must be obviously for living. Rich country one needs to be somewhere at par with the others. That would require much more as an income. Quality of life really great. I guess other European cities provide more variety and more crowd also, kind of more lively
Well I'm from the UK and renting over there sounds cheaper than the UK. A small flat with bill's is about 1400 a month. This video is out of date, you would have to be a halfwit not to live well over there. Things in the UK are terrible, even second hand shops are full now
This is making about 4000 chf netto. Minus 300 to 500 chf for the health insurance, minus 1-room apartment about 1400, and 600 chf for grocery. You will still have 1500 chf left. Considering it's near Germany and France, if you don't spend much, you can survive. You need to consider a 10 min doctor visit cost around 150 - 200 chf, restaurant meal 30 - 40 chf, haircut 30 chf. If you decide to come, go before to dentist in your country.
Kindergarten is free of charge in Switzerland. Kindergarten is mandatory for children aged 4 and over. For a younger child daycare can be quite expensive depending on how many days per week. For a small car you have to expect costs of around 800 euros for taxes and insurance. A bigger car is of course more expensive. But in Switzerland 🇨🇭 you don't really need a car because Switzerland has one of the best public transports in the world. A good network, reliable and on time.

In some Cantons the traffic tax will be charged based on the weight of the car, while others use the cubic capacity. For my 2021 BMW 2L non-diesel I pay around 400CHF in Lucerne, while for my 4.6L V8 Mustang I pay around 900CHF.

I live in Switzerland since 2011 and this video is somehow accurate… But with 6’000 CHF Brutto you can’t live here. You just survive!!! 300 for health assurance is tooooo low, and 1500 for an apartment? Only if you live in a very old small apartment without garage or parking lot. You FORGOT all the annual expenses that take you in some months 1000 or 2000 CHF from your savings! Car insurance? Serafe? Mobile Phone? Internet? Dentist and other doctors which are not included in the health insurance, which is a robbery (nothing is included there), if you have a leasing? Money for a sport or some shoes and clothes? If you need to learn a language??? And if you have a pet? You even have to pay to have a dog…not to mention if you have a kid…then you can not definitely live here….2000 a month for the nursery??? Excuse me??? The prices went up to 50% in some things and almost all 30% - Salary stays the same. Curry-rice in march is 20 CHF and in April is 26.50 CHf…. That’s more than 30% ….. a lesson of anything is not less than 120 chf for 50 minutes!… These are all extras that your simply made budget didn’t account. I wish I had knew it before I came here and would have never come to Switzerland. I wish I could go back to 2008 and to my country where I used to live MUCH BETTER
I pay 259CHF for my health insurance with a deductible of 2500CHF and if you have a low income you ask the Canton for premium reduction! Car insurance you only need when you have a car and you can deduct your kilometeres you drive to work from your tax report. Also nobody is forced to have pets here and when you have kids you can deduct some much stuff from your tax report and you even get child benefits per kid. Also when you have to learn a language or any other further education you can deduct the costs from your tax report. I started to learn Japanese last year and I deduct the costs from my tax report and I also deducted the costs for my MBA the years before. Further 1500CHF for an apartment is possible and you can get a decent one if you dont search one in Zurich or in Geneva but in the Lucerne area you can get a nice 2.5 bed room apartment for 1500CHF or even less! Sorry when I say this but nobody forces you to stay in Switzerland!
Health insurance for kids is about 100.- Per Month for each Kid and it is Obligatory. Education is Free unless you want Bachelor or other Higher education. Childcare is very very very expensive though, but often subsidized if you dont earn more than 100k Netto

Additionally you can not profit from a lower tax rate city as the source-tax is fixed at the averaged tax rates of all the cities in the kanton you live in.

You need to have an entry exam which normally in Swiss official language ( German, French or Italian). Or if you study IB courses, you may apply for Swiss universities ( ie EZH need IB score above 38, St gallen University need IB 36, high level for some subjects, you can check different universities' website) Hope it could help you. Sort of liked the video, but you CH guys keep promoting public transport over and over, and yet you go beyond saying "the best in the world" woow hold on tigers. Take a trip to Emirates, authonomuous railways including metro, never late a second! (minute is not even an option). Buses have leather seats and airconditioned. Bus stops are airconditioned. Economy wise is also way better in income aspect than CH + tax free. Apartments are sort of cheaper and bigger, weather is 365 sunny days? Aww they don't produce Chocolate, so be it.
All you hear is nice clear lake , landscape while others have oceans with free fishes and don’t even brag. What does clear lakes bring you I guess you guys need Aquariums in your bathrooms, with that you can see your fishes better and don’t yearn for vanity lakes. Swiss people travel a lot because their country sucks but still brag about it in shame! When they brag about Switzerland just remember not all that glitters is gold. And yes they don’t have any Gold except exploited ones.

You can stay 90 days without a VISA but by then you need to have a job that will take care of creating your residence permit.
