It’s refreshing hearing you talk about giving credit to designers and artists. Art as a living always seems a bit hit or miss to me, I think most artists really struggle for financial stability, it must be so much harder when they don’t get credited for their work.
This is what the EU was trying to address with it's new copyright laws a few years ago. Needless to say many people on the internet had a massive temper tantrum about it.
It is so important to give credit to artists. And it seems very tricky to get to make a living from making your own thing. But at least it is not that hard to make a living working as an artist in some industries. Of course that means working for other people and creating what they want you to make, but it isn't all bad. :)
I love the meme tile set! I immediately thought the tiles would be cute as mini canvases of famous artworks, like monet water lilies, van gogh sun flowers, or John Russell's peonies
I know a school where each child was given a tile like this to draw a self-portrait and then they were all placed together on an outside wall somewhere. They did this for a few years in a row (with the year 6/senior kids) and it lasted really well and is such a nice thing for the school and the kids when they come back to visit.
Your own series of stamps would have to be illustrations of your Australian animal Pottery. It would be very meta if you illustrated them onto these tiles. 😊
I have a great aunt who has been my pen pal for over a decade. She’s inspired my love of sending post cards and hand written letters. I’m now the friend that mails you a birthday card and I exchange post cards with an international friend. There’s nothing nicer than coming home from a day of working to find a letter someone spent their time on thinking of you. 💌
These little tiles would make a fantastic learning aid for teachers of little kids to help teach/learn the alphabet! I remember the little rhyme from when I was in grade one; "Ants on the apple a a a." Etc
The dog in the fire is my favorite meme. 😂 My grandma’s fridge is the same way! Magnets from everywhere, even places she never has been! What a sweet memory you shared!
These tiles would make beautiful signs for garden herbs: a rosemary branch with blooms and its name. Same for thyme and others. Just put a popsicle stick into it before it goes into the kiln. Would best sell in coming spring. Or at Finders Keepers... Or make them 3D: attach those little mice, froggies or squirrels from the other reveals in them.
Awesome! If you decide to sell some of them by special order, you could sell them (if possible at all) as fridge magnets in 4 by 4. Loved what you did with them 😁
I still get such a joy from picking out stamps at the post office. We use stamps relatively often. During our yearly Christmas trip I usually send out several postcards and always try to get the fun stamps for those. I just love sending mail lol. I had a few pen pals when I was young and we'd send each other cute little stickers and bracelets and stuff. That's a very sweet memory you have of your Nan ❤ I hope you do a collector series of stamps to honor that. 🥰
What a genius idea. The stamps are in delicate detail. The flowerpot such a joyful image, would be a great tabletop. The meme speaks to so much, glad you could honor the artist. Thanks for sharing your memory of your Nana. Cheers from the Midwest USA. 💜
Shelby, thank you SO much for addressing that even viral memes do not exist in a vacuum and that an actual human is behind the artwork. KC Green has had this stolen so many times and profited off, and it's a story pretty much any artist posting their work online can relate to, unfortunately - art theft is a big problem and when you ask people to credit they usually get extremely defensive, rude and even malicious. Creating a culture of accountability and actually crediting artists appropriately (not just saying "credit to whoever made this" or "via pinterest") is the only way that it will gain momentum. I'm delighted to hear you had a discussion with Green before doing this. Thanks for that and for talking about it! Love the tile set! 😍😍
Oooh I love the idea of a coaster set with these! That way they're still a cool artwork when no in use (and if you're like me and never know where things are, if they're part of a bigger piece, they have a home to go to so you always know where they are!)
These remind me of a project we did over 15 years ago at my church. We had a big celebration and kids and adults created ceramic tiles with underglaze. Any design they wished. The tiles were sent to be glazed and fired. We have several spots on campus where large grids of the final tiles are mounted.
Loved this weeks video Shelby! The set of tiles was my favourite. I can see you doing a series "making tiles for my kitchen"...... (and we'll all be here for it!) ❤
This might be one of your best projects. These little tiles are so precious individually and grouped. The vase of flowers is a beautiful accent. The meme should probably be framed to be used as wall art in someone's study or office. Love the stamp memories you have. That is so special. Would love to see you do your kitchen in your art!!!
My sister collected stamps and I collected coins. It's sad we have lost these little hobbies I would love to make a cute memory game with these little tiles for my son 😍
Loved these tiles. These would make beautiful alphabet themed tiles for kids to play with. They could have magnets so you could put them on the fridge as well.❤
I'm watching all your old videos and see so much potential in how to incorporate into your new shop. Like these could be used for people to paint and contribute to a wall in your new shop. Or as a classroom field trip, each student could paint a tile to add to a class mural. The teachers could work out just how they wanted to do that or what lesson they might want to incorporate. Like geometry, a lesson on working together to make a bigger piece with a twist letting them decide what colors or whatever, etc... Each kid could paint the same thing, like a flower, to see how everyone's ideas are different but still awesome and unique to them.. You could also make a bunch of magnets for sale, and put put them for sale on your stores refrigerator.
I really like picture stamps too. Most of the ones in the UK are just the monarchs head but occasionally we get ones commemorating an event or person. They have updated the stamps with barcodes on the sides to make them work with new technology but still have the picture and I think that's the best of both worlds 😊 love the artworks this week, your videos always spark joy ❤
I'm just imagining sitting in a kitchen with a set of your beautiful pottery dinnerware laid out on the table in front of me, and a backsplash of matching tiles on the wall between the cabinets. How amazing would that be!
The little crab is soooo cute!!! ❤❤😊 Also the stamps are adorable. I really liked the Moroccan style ones, I really like the Mediterranean style to do tiles (Portugal, Sicily, Morocco,...) ❤
Those would be great little squares for children who are learning to speak like mini flashcards, but better, and if you put magnets on the back, they would be great fridge magnets too. Kids would play for hours.🥰
My mind is running wild with ideas! When you started placing the "random" tiles I immediately thought of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and all of the foods that he ate through. That would be such a cute design element in a child's play space! If you wanted to really commit to the tiles you could take custom orders as well. I traveled to Portugal last year and decorative tiles were everywhere. I would love to have miniatures of some of the ones in my photos!
You can have someone build wood frames for groups of 4-16 tiles and grout them into place to make a trivet. I love the idea of the "This is fine" doggo sweating under a hot casserole dish right out of the oven!
I so feel you when you talk about the letters. I really miss getting nice letters. Getting bills isn‘t as much fun… in Europe there are still stamps you can buy and they still make collectable stamps here and special edition - at least in the country I live in.
The tile set made into a pot holder would be the cutest, especially for Christmas etc. Like, an Australian themed one with fauna etc. I could think of so many people who would love that,
Love the idea of the tiles as coasters! You could definitely do a whole series on that concept. They would look so good with the Aussie native plants that you did on the stacking mugs
Nice. Regarding the custom colours, I use a lot of custom colours and I mix more of each colour then I need and store the left over underglaze in small sauce containers. They do dry out over time but it is easy enough to add more water as it becomes necessary. Just an idea.
Love the versatility of this mold!! I feel like you will be able to do a lot of small works for your shows/markets easily using this mold! ❤ they turned out beautiful
Maybe make set of four and mount them in a thin wooden frame, or glue on a cork base to go with your teapots, for coasters? Maybe a set of matching coasters for mugs and a combo of four for the pot? But I don't know anything about ceramics, and maybe it's a different kind of clay/ process to make ceramics okay with having pots on them. It would be lovely though, matching mugs/ tea pots/ tea sets with custom tile coasters.
Shelby, I miss stamps too. My dad has a collection I always marveled at. 1 cent and such was so weird to me. I recently started writing letters again to my family and kids now that they moved out. I had postcards made of a family inside joke and they have really enjoyed receiving them. Helps us stay in touch in a different way ❤
This project reminded me of an assignment we were given in drawing class. The instructor had an M. C. Etcher drawing made into tiles one (1) inch square. We were each given one to enlarge to 18 inches square...the piece was stunning when up on the wall...I don't think I would remember so vividly except one person LOST their tile!!!!! It was jaw dropping shock 😲 🎉❤
Back in the old days, someone at work would print a "meme" out and distribute it though the office where they would be posted on cubicles. We were cool before social media existed.
My sons are now both almost 30. When they were little, I would take them to the post office with me and we would purchase full sheets of the special stamps they made. If not, let's hope they will be worth something to someone and they can get some pocket money for them. ❤
I used to collect stamps with my dad and soak them off of envelopes too! I've had a penpal for the last 15 years and it is always so much fun to get a physical paper letter in the mail, it's so exciting even if it's only a short letter.
the color matching on the kc green piece is incredibly well done! wow! I hope he finds the time to check out this video now that its done its a great homage!
I love your stamps!!! My friends and I write letters back and forth and it’s always exciting to see what stamp is on the envelope. I always save the “boring” stands for my landlord when I have to mail in the rent every month 😝
I absolutely love all of these but I’m madly in love with the individual mix and match tiles, I need my entire kitchen in them, it would make me so happy xx
I love these tiles! You can make a set of matching pairs to do the match game! Which is very good for improving memory. Oh, any chance of another random pairing video like the thimbles and koala? Those are fun.
I remember having to find space for all the 1 and 2 cent stamps when a 5 cent couldn't be found. I agree with letters having a legacy, I have letters from WWI.❤
Love the flower pot and the stamps are cute. You could also add something small to them like a mushroom or bee. Side note I got a huge shock a couple of days ago when I was watching TV and I saw you. Sadly no one was around for me to to point out I know who she she in a very over excited and shocked way. On your way to being a ⭐
Those stamp tiles are cool. My sister went through our parents house and gave me boxes of things that she tried to sell in an estate sale. I sell on ebay and a huge item was 2 listings that had unused girl scout stamps. Patches have been very popular too. I love fun magnets.
I love the tiles and the designs that you have painted. I used to collect stamps and now if I can get them I paste them onto boxes for storage of small items.
How fun would it be to do this and separate then sell them individually but with a picture of the whole image on the back. So we all could all have a piece of each other's puzzle.
I don't know how different it is in Australia, but the US postal service still does a bunch of stamp series that are super fun! Maybe stamp collecting is more popular in the US or something, but it's definitely more geared towards them.
Oh gosh, Shelby, this is GOLD! I see you doing so many of these over the years! I’m in love with your stamps. And the “This is fine” meme! LOL. So perfect, with the dog going into the kiln for firing. 😅😂🤣 When I travelled to Portugal in 2015, I brought back some fridge magnet tiles for souvenirs. I would so love to have YOUR tiles to bring back if I ever manage to visit my stepdaughter in Australia! And honestly, if you are going to put your work into the mail for overseas, I can much more easily imagine getting these tiles across the oceans safely. Not to mention it being just more affordable all around to be able to get a tiny bit of your work, for those of us too far to be able to get our own mushie mug or whatever. :) This is such a perfect mould for you!!! The literal blank canvas on which to express all your amazing art! (Also, now I want to find a similar mould over here, so I can collaborate with my artistic potter friend and put my Zentangle-inspired art on my own tiles, and eventually use it for a backsplash in a tiny house …!)
There are sooooo many ideas in my brain for these!! Your flowers and animals that you use on your other pottery, Harry Potter themed ones, like for magnets but then you could do 2x2 of the house crests
highly recommend the documentary Feels Good Man! It's so fascinating and it really dives into internet culture in a unique way, while also highlighting the chill dude who invented Pepe the Frog and his original intentions for the character. It's also really beautifully shot and animated!
Thank you for this video. You brought back so many memories in my life that made me smile and brought a tear to my eyes. A little summary of them ... my pop and I collected stamps we took them off everything right down to air mail stamps on letters he wrote to my nan when he was flying. The butterflies 🦋 reminded me of my mom that I lost to cancer 20 years ago this Christmas eve she was in a wing of a hospital they called the butterfly wing. Thank you for bringing the memories back sometimes I think I'm forgetting. My mom was an artist and I remember when she went back to college I would go with her and would hang out with the other artists and they would let me make pots then they would fire them for me I still have some of them. I wish I had your mailing address to add to your stamps. Again thank you.
Well said Claire ❤

But at least it is not that hard to make a living working as an artist in some industries. Of course that means working for other people and creating what they want you to make, but it isn't all bad. :)
Quilters would love having quilt themed tiles.
I love the meme tile set! I immediately thought the tiles would be cute as mini canvases of famous artworks, like monet water lilies, van gogh sun flowers, or John Russell's peonies
I would LOVE to see her do famous artworks or her favourite works by famous artists.
Or the Australian plants. :) I would LOVE to see a whole backsplash with the plants-as-stamps! So meta! 😂
Now I need Shelby to add a bunch of custom tiles to the wall behind her
EACH TILE COULD BE A FANCY PATTERN AND YOU COULD MAKE A WHOLE TILE QUILT.... OH GODS I NEED THAT MOLD AHHHHHHHHHHH
Wouldn’t these be so sweet with recreations of teacup patterns?
I collect teapots and tea cups and that would be lovely to to.
I have a great aunt who has been my pen pal for over a decade. She’s inspired my love of sending post cards and hand written letters. These little tiles would make a fantastic learning aid for teachers of little kids to help teach/learn the alphabet! I remember the little rhyme from when I was in grade one; "Ants on the apple a a a." Etc
I was thinking the same thing. A is for ...
Gorgeous!! Your 2x2 'Moroccan' inspired piece was beautiful!! I'd love to have a whole wall of those behind my stove. :-)
The dog in the fire is my favorite meme. 😂
My grandma’s fridge is the same way!
Mini blank canvases!!! These are always fun, cause you can do anything!!!
❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
And yes, I also feel this meme too…
Awesome! If you decide to sell some of them by special order, you could sell them (if possible at all) as fridge magnets in 4 by 4. Loved what you did with them 😁
You said you didn't go down that rabbit hole, yet... Don't! Just don't! 😂 Beautiful pieces! 😊

@16:17 those look like memory game tiles :-)

Seeing all the colored designs made me think of those matching games for kids ❤ This was an amazing display of your creativity 😊
Yes, I thought the same. 😃❤️
I found myself looking for pairs!
I have my grandmother's stamp collection. One of the few things she left me when she passed.
Oooh I love the idea of a coaster set with these! That way they're still a cool artwork when no in use (and if you're like me and never know where things are, if they're part of a bigger piece, they have a home to go to so you always know where they are!)
I liked the four tile design, simple can be cute too! Glued to a base it could be a pot stand for the kitcheb table. 😊
These remind me of a project we did over 15 years ago at my church. We had a big celebration and kids and adults created ceramic tiles with underglaze. Any design they wished. The tiles were sent to be glazed and fired. We have several spots on campus where large grids of the final tiles are mounted.
Sometimes the most simple canvas for decoration gives you the best way to be creative! I LOVE these!
Loved this weeks video Shelby! The set of tiles was my favourite. I can see you doing a series "making tiles for my kitchen"...... (and we'll all be here for it!) ❤

I've watched you paint all sorts of pieces, but on these tiles I'm amazed at how steady your hand is with lines.
I would love to see a collection of these with you signature native flowers!
I love the story about your Grandmother. Priceless memories.
I really like picture stamps too. Most of the ones in the UK are just the monarchs head but occasionally we get ones commemorating an event or person. Shelby, You've got the perfect spot to display them on the wall behind you under the shelfs.
I love the lemons! I want a whole row of them on my kitchen back splash!
Those would be great little squares for children who are learning to speak like mini flashcards, but better, and if you put magnets on the back, they would be great fridge magnets too. Kids would play for hours.🥰
I absolutely love these tiles! I can think of 1,000,000,000 ideas to paint on these tiles. Paisleys and Moroccan archways....would be amazing!
My mind is running wild with ideas! When you started placing the "random" tiles I immediately thought of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and all of the foods that he ate through. That would be such a cute design element in a child's play space!

These are so bloody amazing!! How cool would a little ABC set be? Could be a game for learning or a beautiful wall piece?
I so feel you when you talk about the letters. I really miss getting nice letters. Getting bills isn‘t as much fun… in Europe there are still stamps you can buy and they still make collectable stamps here and special edition - at least in the country I live in.
The tile set made into a pot holder would be the cutest, especially for Christmas etc. Like, an Australian themed one with fauna etc. I could think of so many people who would love that,

A coaster set that would form a larger puzzle picture would be lovely!
I love the vase with flowers tiles. I would love to see one with more of your Australian wild flowers. They are my favorites of you paint work.
Shelby, I miss stamps too. My dad has a collection I always marveled at. 1 cent and such was so weird to me. I recently started writing letters again to my family and kids now that they moved out. I had postcards made of a family inside joke and they have really enjoyed receiving them. Helps us stay in touch in a different way ❤
These tiles are great because your can fit so many in the kiln! And always fit in a few around whatever else you're firing
Sooooo much potential for these tiles!! And love what you've done so far!! 🌸
Endless options for those tiles! The large flower was my favorite like you said I could imagine it in an Italian country home ❤!
Hello from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks for the info on the memes,
As always spectacular outcome.magnificent reveal🎉❤😂😊
The flower vase set would make a nice little side table top, set it into a wooden frame with a pedestal base.
I had the same thought!
My sons are now both almost 30. When they were little, I would take them to the post office with me and we would purchase full sheets of the special stamps they made. Like warner bros cartoon characters, trains, etc. I framed them all along with the full-size glossy image that came with them. They covered their walls and were just so bright and they were something they chose. I still have all of them stashed away in the frames. They always make me smile when I come across them and I hope that some day their children will want them. If not, let's hope they will be worth something to someone and they can get some pocket money for them. ❤
I love the stamp idea! Time to make a custom mold with the scalloped edges to continue the set
I used to collect stamps with my dad and soak them off of envelopes too! I've had a penpal for the last 15 years and it is always so much fun to get a physical paper letter in the mail, it's so exciting even if it's only a short letter.
You should paint some of these with your gum tree flower and bee design and glue to a tray for your tea set!
Those tiles are a gold mine! The possibilities are endless, great work!
I love the tiles! You could design forever with those! I like the idea of a back splash made from tiles. Fab job!
I was thinking the same thing, she could go forever doing these tiles
I'd love to make tiles someday! I have stamp collecting memories with my grandparents, too!
Love these. They are so versatile. If you grout the bigger images you could also use it as a coaster for a pan or tea pot.
the color matching on the kc green piece is incredibly well done! wow! I hope he finds the time to check out this video now that its done its a great homage!
I love your stamps!!! My friends and I write letters back and forth and it’s always exciting to see what stamp is on the envelope. I always save the “boring” stands for my landlord when I have to mail in the rent every month 😝
I love all of these pieces so much, but especially the vase with daisies. Amazing what you can do with just some little squares.
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! DEFINITELY ONE OF MY FAVES OF ALL MISTERY MOLDS!!!
I absolutely love all of these but I’m madly in love with the individual mix and match tiles, I need my entire kitchen in them, it would make me so happy xx
Ohhhh, so many possibilities with the tile mold! I love what you've done with them so far! ❤
I love these tiles! You can make a set of matching pairs to do the match game! Which is very good for improving memory. Oh, any chance of another random pairing video like the thimbles and koala? Those are fun.
Omg, this is my favorite from you so far... I love the small child like drawing on the tiles, it’s gonna totally brighten up any kitchen !
Scrabble tiles!
Your hill design would look so beautiful across the 4x4 grid 😍 love these! Especially the meme 😂
I remember having to find space for all the 1 and 2 cent stamps when a 5 cent couldn't be found. I agree with letters having a legacy, I have letters from WWI.❤
Love the flower pot and the stamps are cute. You could also add something small to them like a mushroom or bee.

Those stamp tiles are cool.
My sister went through our parents house and gave me boxes of things that she tried to sell in an estate sale. I sell on ebay and a huge item was 2 listings that had unused girl scout stamps. Patches have been very popular too.
I love fun magnets.
All so cute and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Omg! They are all gorgeous! I think this might be one of my most favourite videos so far! ❤
Sounds like your nana really got you into art. That's awesome ❤
I love the tiles and the designs that you have painted. I used to collect stamps and now if I can get them I paste them onto boxes for storage of small items.
How fun would it be to do this and separate then sell them individually but with a picture of the whole image on the back. So we all could all have a piece of each other's puzzle.
I love the eyes. I doodled eyes on everything as a kid.
I cannot even imagine being able to make your own tile! That's so awesome!
Great fun! Love them! And I think the 4 tile mosaic is adorable! 💖
So fun. Looks like a tile puzzle 🧩❤
WOWOWOWOW! I love these! All the glorious colors and images. I love tiles. I hope you keep making more.
I don't know how different it is in Australia, but the US postal service still does a bunch of stamp series that are super fun! Maybe stamp collecting is more popular in the US or something, but it's definitely more geared towards them.

Thank you for explaining memes. I’m old and have no clue what they are. Turned out cute. TFS
The 4 tile is wonderful! It's my favorite 😍
They could also be used as coasters. A group of four or six in one theme like fruit paired together would look good as coaster.
These would be great as magnets, perfect size really
