As a hidden gem, I have the 11th idiom for you but it is usually used by non-British people. It is reflected of British society but I never heard British people say it. Smitten by Britain: When someone is “smitten by Britain,” they are deeply captivated or charmed by the United Kingdom. It is like falling head over heels for the UK’s culture, history, or perhaps even its rainy weather!
Hey Katherine teacher ❤🙂. I'm a early bird 🕊 and also a night owl 🦉too. I wake up early and at night i watch your lovely inspiring videos and say goodnight before going to sleep. I wish more people would be like you- so kind and lovely. Lovely and super video about idioms🙏😀.

Each friday you make people feel on top of the world. Your positiveness, kindness and warmth are really a present for us. You are the ray of sunshine that touches our being in a cold morning and embraces us. The ray of sunshine that makes the flower lives. You are the light that illuminates the darkness of our ignorance. You aren't a hidden gem. You are the gem that everybody sees and wants to achieve. You are the sun that gives happiness to whole people after the heavy rain. That's what you are!!! So Katharine, thank you. Thank you so much!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!! Enjoy your time!!! Enjoy your life!!!
I stopped wrapping my head around the question why I love these videos so much quite some time ago. Whatever Catherine, sometimes the strawberry or cherry girl, but always a ray of sunshine 😊 presents, it is enthusiastic (like she is bouncing off the walls) and certainly a highlight of the week. Really great stuff that I love ❤ … have a great weekend.😊
Finding your UA-cam Channel was a hidden gem 💎 for me this year 🙈💖. They are adorable, wozy cozy idioms, my darling 😊. My only weakness with all of 'em, it is translate 'em to Mexican Spanish, 'cause; you know, they are idioms 😂! Some are a piece of cake 🥞 and others not too much. In any case, I will do my best to learn 'em ☺. Your first video of the month! It is so exciting! Now, I know you love cherries! I have no proof, but I have no doubt either 😆. Thanks a million, Katherine! We will see us next Friday 🥰.
Ripple. I once was in a night club, but during the day, because I knew the owner's son, and, I lived nearby, and, I was the only person, there, watching a lady singer, from one of the small island countries of the area, rehearsing, with her band, a song that talked about a stone that's dropped in the still water of a small river, causing ripples, as a way of describing one's state of mind, or what a lady felt in her heart. The name of the song, that's in French, translates into "The Windmills Of My Heart". And, since that day, that song always stayed in my mind, about ripples in a still body of water, when a stone is dropped into it. Small thing, maybe, to remember, but, it has a certain charm to it, to me, mostly because I was all alone, in that big room, watching that lady singer prepare for the concert that was to come. Such a nice experience, that left ripples of emotions, in my heart, when that lady's voice dropped those notes into the lagoon of my ears. Had I gone to the concert, afterwards, that stone being dropped in that water wouldn't have caused the same ripples, to my perception of things.
I've already added this set of idioms to my Anki. Thank you Katherine for pouring your heart into this channel. It's awesome. You're doing a great job ❤
Hello lovely teacher , I m gonna watch your videos , " come rain or shine " , expressing consistency and loyalty . I like the "come rain or come shine " song performed, among others , best by Jazz Diva singer Norah Jones and star trumpet player Wynton Marsalis Greeting from your Dutch long - term , everlasting fan ! 💋Kiss !
What a coincidence! ...I also burnt the midnight oil two days ago to have a project done until 4 am while, perhaps, you were pouring your heart into this new video...and you are right!... it has connotation: Cinderella, just like you,
Hello, Katharine.😊 As summer has just come, I feel like going to a lagoon to look for a hidden gem.🦀🐚🐟️ To me, you're such a ray of sunshine because you do fill my screen with an air of joy and happiness.🥰 Thank you for pouring your heart into making such a super awesome video. 🤩💕
Whenever it is Friday, my heart flutters. Since you love the word “ flutter”. May I suggest you make some clips on beautiful words and phrases Shakespeare coined? Thank you.
Good evening Katharine. Even in Sardinian and in Italian there are idioms like those for describing certain situations, anyway thank you very much for this other very interesting video about English idioms, have a great weekend and I'll see you next friday.
Katherine, have you ever considered writing books? Your statements are characterized by a dynamic, vivid and attractive narrative. The world is wonderful and people know it, unfortunately the grayness of life kills it. writing good writing shows the world as we would like to see it. Do this and the world will be more beautiful! I'm sure!
Hi teacher , I just wanted to tell you that you're special teacher and Im grateful for your videos and your effort . I love your accent and Im looking forward to speak like you one day❤️✨️
"Once bitten twice shy" reminds me of a Turkish idiom that goes: "Sütten ağzı yanan yoğurdu üfleyerek yer", the direct translation for which is "He whose mouth is burnt drinking milk eats yogurt blowing on it". The overall message is completely the same as we also use it for such situations.
I still remember we went in massive numbers to the cinema to see that , definitely noteworthy and - no doubt everyone will agree - a very romantic and gripping movie " The Blue Lagoon " with lovely young star actress Brooke Shields ,and for sure I recommend everyone to go see that gem of a movie .
Hi Katherine You are a ray of sunshine really. Your videos make me smile, energized I think because you come off as natural and spontaneous. I don't know your mom but definitely I think you take after her. Keep it up Fatiha Switzerland
