To me? He was a more sophisticated Banshee. Instead of one scream. His screams were more powerful. I never get why the make Black characters are made so powerful they can't be used fully? Or can be knocked out very easily.

Great video. One day black superheroes will have their day in the sun. Retelling the same stories for the past 40 years is one of the reasons DC comics and Marvel are failing today. Tyroc should have his own comic book series.

Tyroc's homeland was like North Sentinel Island in a way.
DC comic did that with black super hero's ,give them clueless superhero uniform that was out of this world .But Tyroc had incredible ability back in the 70's should have been better written and a black writer would have made a difference on this character handler correctly.
Most characters that are black need to be written by black writers

The game skyrim has the main character, powerful wizards and dragons that uses their voice/ dragon language as powerful magic. Different words have different affects or powers. Its actually not as silly as its sounds, just dc used stupid words to represent his sounds.

I knew about this character. It's a shame that they nerfed him and basically turned his power into a generic sonic scream. I liked his original power set of being able to manipulate reality with his voice. It was a unique take on reality warping and they could have done a lot with that concept.
You should do a video on Miranda from (Earth-TRN656). She was in 'X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever', a miniseries about the mutant, Bailey Hoskins who could self detonate, but only one time. She's quite possibly the most powerful character in Marvel

I bought and still have the first appearance of this character. I was excited to finally see a Black character in the Legion. They completely dropped the ball with his introduction. An island where all the Black people lived 1000 years in the future? Not a continent but an island. Not well thought out. The characters powers were too broad and Ill defined. The potential was there but the execution was horrible. I always hated the fact that he was ultimately written out of the group and went unused for decades. He coulda been a contender.
After watching your vid, I wish they revamp this character and give him his own miniseries. I would keep the island that he's from and ditch the costume.

However DC comics I'd believe it have more black characters more then Marvel? I'd could be wrong about that because In Truth back then American comics entertainment studios publisher company own All the comics ,Novels, magazines with comedy and cartoons. All that come from American comics know to as Actions Comics and Detective Comics, So DC comics publishers was the First company comics out there at the time. Stan Lee followed his uncle, in comics business but Jack Kirby and few others their got and keep things moving forward . Stan Lee got into business because of his uncle.
Gabriel Hughes I think currently Marvel has more Black characters, but I’m not 100% sure. DC has characters they haven’t used in over 15-20 years so who’s to say they still don’t have more black characters

Although I'd dont know what the reason X-MEN series and comics came to be because it was a Related towards realistic thing's , like Racist and hate speech and hatred towards others people who are different to others and have different world views how others see in Religious beliefs. Go back on the X-Men world view is of mutants nonetheless it's still about Homosexual, Religious and against Black people and people of colors. BLACK People are at the rate higher because black people at a higher risk.

Have there ever been a write-in suggestion for the to bring Tyrol back. He was in the audience/cover page, for Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel, when they came out with the big Annual Edition.
You know in dc comics sound manipulation if fully mastered can warp the fabric of reality so that would mean his screaming powers are simply a prelude to his true unadaltered power that he has actually mastered in past stories

I hated Tyroc ( im 53) because he was an angry stereotype with no nuance.

I know people have been saying it but I have to say it too; they completely nerfed Tyroc. I had no clue about this with him (i didn't really ready Legion of SH). Aside from the odd 'sounds' his powers were top tier. It gets really annoying when they give black characters these super powers and then can't properly write them/leave them in limbo

He makes a brief appearance in the animated movie Justice League vs The Fatal Five but don't blink! His powers are depicted as sonic Black Canary/Banshee type abilities though.

I actually had this comic ( I was a big Mike Grell fan) and I was really excited about Tyroc and really liked his power but DC didn't use him at all I only remember him appearing in 3 LOSH issues DC didn't believe Black Lives Matters in the 70ies.

This is why we need more black superheros. We need a black superhero that’s gonna standout like goku, Superman, Naruto, and Batman. We need a black superhero like them. 😏✊🏽
They should rebrand him as Skyrok and give him the same abilities but make it like he has some tech to help him manage his powers like a watch and bring back bloodwynd and put them and Mr terrific in a mini series

I actually bought and still own the Bates/Shooter & Grell Legion run which included Tyroc's debut.
Even as a child, you could tell that DC hadn't a clue as to what they were doing with the character, from a background and motivation stance.
That being said, I always saw his powers as a significantly more powerful version of Banshee (Sean Cassidy) of the X-Men. Both possessed sonic or voice-derived powers they could use for a number of effects. Tyroc's were just more potent.
While his story may have been.....irritating, the creative team was successful in creating a new character who was as powerful as some of the strongest Legion members but one who's powerset was not a Superboy clone (Mon-El/Ultra Boy/Dev-Em).
I feel they missed a great opportunity by not developing Tyroc better. However, we are seeing today that when a character is created solely to advance a political agenda as opposed to telling a good story, it always fails.

Most, if not all, black characters seem to get the same unique secondary mutation: the ability to enter (but not exit) the phantom zone or limbo. Examples: Prowler, Shola Inkosa (Excalibur), Kasper Kole, Thunderball, & Nightshade. Marvel set up most of these characters in current stories that would have allowed them to be returned and then seemingly said screw it. Most of them should have been featured in the now canceled Agents of Wakanda, but no. It's funny to me that an all or mostly white team gets every chance in the world but a black team (The Crew) takes years to get a second chance. As far as DC goes, if you're not Green Lanternor Cyborg you can forget it. Black Lightning was ignored for years. Once again, great content.

Who is Marvel's?
black reality warper? I can't remember his name, but he was a little kid mutant who fought the fantastic four. Think he's dead now, but i remember that he was going to be a member of the New Mutants, but the writers claimed that he was too powerful and that he had the ability to create a more powerful team of his own out of nothing. With that kind of power, how could he fit on a team? I do remember that he appeared in the fantastic four, and not an X-men/Mutant comic. Think that was back in the late 70's, believe it or not.
@@ERASEREPLACEPLACE Willie Evans Jr. I had both his original appearance and his X-Factor issue a while ago. It was a real waste of character, how they killed him off. Very few reality warpers are left alone as is, but it still would've been nice to have one black mainstay. He could've been close friends with Franklin Richards.

obviously his costume was not very challenging. the fact that he has endured al this time speaks volumes of his character. the idea was to never have a black hero in dc be as powerful or more then superman and green lantern hal jordan. tyroc is another token in dc still under the auspices of white racist comic book governing.
