Bruh i been telling folks about this dude for the longest!!!! His whole origin story was quite advanced (relative to other black characters’ origin stories in DC) for its day. He was the only hero left standing after going toe to toe with Doomsday (Ice got taken out real quick but she was left standing too). There is so much that could be done his character especially after George Floyd and countless others. A new Blood gem for a new age against the oldest Rot of the nation.

I often wondered what became of this character, to me Bloodwynd was a combination of Marvel's Dr Strange and Vision. I lost track of the mystic badass around the time of the death of Superman. It would cool reading to seane the mage again, I don't understand what the deal is when it comes to heroes/people of color. Here fiction is imitating real life, in either world no one knows what to do with people of color.
I'm today years old but i really feel like there is an opportunity for DC to take a lesser known character and do something great with it. I could definitely see this character have a movie or a peacemaker like run with the ability to visit history like Watchmen...well off to my screenplay notebook
I agree 100 percent with the fact that DC drops the ball constantly with their black characters. Cyborg joining the JLA ruined his Titans origins, Bronze Tiger was totally screwed in the New 52 era and then forgotten even by the Suicide Squad and the list goes on. Great heroes who never got a proper chance. Bloodwynd could have been great with proper handling. P.S. What ever happened to Batwing and the Signal. Also Blerd, I'd love to hear your take on Charcoal, Marvels better combo of the Thing & Human Torch and a character that disappeared for financial reasons.

Here's the thing, if they don't bring back Papa Midnight from Constantine or Joshua Power from Power Company, they are not going to touch Bloodwynd. I think he would work if you bring him into a Justice League Dark team, but that's just me. I mean, think about how monstrous that blood diamond would be in post Rebirth DC? Who's to say that there aren't more diamonds?

It seems like it would be fairly easy to introduce him as an unknown/antihero in Black Lightning and the launch him into his own series where his nature and story could be explored. It would also give costume designers a chance to play with us look a bit since, to be fair, it’s pretty dated.

All I remember about Bloodwynd is that I was VERY disappointed when it was revealed he was Martian Manhunter rather than an actual character all his own. They have probably retconned that, but still...a waste of a great character.
After being revealed that J'Onn was impersonating Bloodwynd, originally and then we got to actually meet the real one, I've always felt this character had more to say/do that just being a short-lived one-off. Hopefully, DC will find something to do with him at some point and not let languish for an eternity,

To the question "why he disappears, and has never been brought back". I have the answer. He's a character where the mythology of his powers are from slaves that rebelled and killed the slave owner. I can only think of a handful of times throughout all of comic book history where this subject has been approached. Each and every time it has been, the corporate "overlords" have killed it with swiftness. While those people are very comfortable with all aspects of the slavery part, they are not comfortable with the slaves overthrowing the slave owners. And they are most definitely not comfortable with making a superhero that can "trend" based on that.

That was Matrix. Shape shifter who took the form of the late Kara-EL Supergirl. Created in a pocket Earth. The same Earth conquered and killed by Zod & his lieutenants. The one time Superman was forced to kill. Too big a threat if they escaped.Since retconned. Matrix created as a Superman to fight General Zod. Was no Superman on that Earth.

I remember owning the first 2 issues of that book as a teenager on a short budget. I'd love a review as I never finished the series. Many of the newer titles make me long for a time when stories had continuity and were not just the next big event.
I remember THIS character from death of superman comic the original one and remember asking myself "who is this guy" he makes an appearance as superman is fighting Doomsday. If I remember right Superman specifically told him to not fight Doomsday . Instead he evacuated everyone i think if memory serves me right.
Closest I've seen from Marvel was around the time of Maximum Carnage, they had Nightwatch who looked the part, but I believe was a bit more tech-based than supernatural.

Rn, DC is including more black and brown characters in this new era, Infinite Frontier, but that's not enough. They still need to expand on these characters and make good stories. And we also need them to hiring more artist like Alitha Martinez because a lot of artist claim that they can't draw people or black hair/hairstyles. Fixing the problem is better than shunning it.

I remember there was a period where Bloodwynd was revealed to be Martian Manhunter in disguise, but later on, we learned that there was a real Bloodwynd as well. There also used to be a fan theory that Bloodwynd was Mr. Terrific's split personality, mainly because they seemed to be sych opposites. We have a white-clad mystic who uses brute strength and has a t-shaped gap exposing his face. Meanwhile, Mr. Terrific dressed in black, practiced science, fought with gadgets, and had a t-shaped mask over his face. That said, the mr terrific thing was just a theory and they hinted at martian manhunter early on
Might suggest a look at Goliath II in Marvel. Was a replacement for Hank Pym.All I know is he was black. Wore the same blue spandex and yellow stripe. Presumably American. Never saw him but once and that might just have been a" who's who?" Entry. I think...could be wrong but 70's era and the fight with The High Eveloutionary.

Marked fact that Bloodwynd hasn't featured in any of the DC animations I've seen recently. DC should make a lot more use of him, even if he featured more in the 'magic' circles of John Constantine, Zatana, Captain Marvel / Shazam, Black Adam, et. al. I hope we will see him featured more soon, and hopefully at some point in the DCEU.
Memories! I remember in Death of Superman event, Blue Beetle was so distracted by speculating Bloodwynn being a traitor, he got fucked up by Doomsday😆 (if I'm remembering correctly).
They definitely should update his uniform, and his character. If he’s so powerful, it needs to be on display as feats rather than a telltale version of it. A battle between him and Icon would awesome to know who is powerful enough to keep up either way Superman.

Ehhh I dunno if he's an answer to Spawn, my guy literally defeated the Devil and God lol but as is typical they'll ignore these characters or make them take a mantle instead of forging ahead with them. It just needs a good writer with a smart storyline. Come on man, stop painting anyone who holds CG viewpoint as one note people. Good characters are good characters period - nobody bat an eye at Batwing who took his own identity but looked at Tim dodgy because ultimately he's not Batman and I still like the idea of him as a character. If they brought Bloodwynd back with just a good story nobody would bat an eye but I'd bet my bottom dollar instead of a good story it would be black black blackity black rather than focused on the character and a decent story. While some people like that added to their story, others don't and are pulled out of the escapism content as a result, but the one thing we ALL like is a good story. They are sleeping on Bloodwynd but I did notice that Sync was treated the same for a long time then coincidentally after some of your content we started to see a lot more of him. Maybe it was just a coincidence but just keep making decent content with these characters visible and who knows maybe he might get his shine soon.

That was Matrix. Shape shifter who took the form of the late Kara-EL Supergirl. Created in a pocket Earth. The same Earth conquered and killed by Zod & his lieutenants. The one time Superman was forced to kill. Too big a threat if they escaped.Since retconned. Matrix created as a Superman to fight General Zod. Was no Superman on that Earth.

The only thing I think I have of him is the Funeral For A Friend follow up to the Death of Superman Arc where he is on the roof with the other JLA. MAJOR mistake not utilizing him, a horror based update would be cool, in fact I would introduce a new Blood Wind blk. female character that finds the stone and ends up discovering what happened to the O.G., but isn't just one (sort of like Peele's CandyMan) and the ROT still lingers........

I remember owning the first 2 issues of that book as a teenager on a short budget. I'd love a review as I never finished the series. Many of the newer titles make me long for a time when stories had continuity and were not just the next big event.
I remember THIS character from death of superman comic the original one and remember asking myself "who is this guy" he makes an appearance as superman is fighting Doomsday. If I remember right Superman specifically told him to not fight Doomsday . Instead he evacuated everyone i think if memory serves me right.

Closest I've seen from Marvel was around the time of Maximum Carnage, they had Nightwatch who looked the part, but I believe was a bit more tech-based than supernatural.

They need to write a Vixen story and connect her to the spirit world. DC honestly needs to hiring more black and brown writers that are good at their job and care to write for these characters.
Hire them for what? Have you not notice what they do to black and brown artist ? Hell have you notice what they do to those characters? I much rather them be at Marvel and other companies because cleary DC isn't good with them and neither do they care. When your biggest black character is Cyborg you are doing something very wrong.
@@rell127 Vixen is an established character in DC. Instead of saying things like "let's not do anything" because they are bad at it, they should try to improve it. Rn, DC is including more black and brown characters in this new era, Infinite Frontier, but that's not enough. They still need to expand on these characters and make good stories. The best ppl to make these stories are black and brown writers. And we also need them to hiring more artist like Alitha Martinez because a lot of artist claim that they can't draw people or black hair/hairstyles. Fixing the problem is better than shunning it.

Hell even Black Batman sells like shit, so why the hell would I except something new and different and I been reading comics for over 25 years and nothing had ever changed from DC. Also it's not just Marvel Image does black and brown character better, Valiant does better black and brown characters, Boom! does better black and brown characters, Darkhorse and ect. DC did give a damn until a few years ago and when they started it's 65 years too late.

I always wondered where they planned to take this character.
I remember there was a period where Bloodwynd was revealed to be Martian Manhunter in disguise, but later on, we learned that there was a real Bloodwynd as well.
There also used to be a fan theory that Bloodwynd was Mr. Terrific's split personality, mainly because they seemed to be sych opposites. We have a white-clad mystic who uses brute strength and has a t-shaped gap exposing his face. Meanwhile, Mr. Terrific dressed in black, practiced science, fought with gadgets, and had a t-shaped mask over his face.
That said, the mr terrific thing was just a theory and they hinted at martian manhunter early on
Might suggest a look at Goliath II in Marvel. Was a replacement for Hank Pym.All I know is he was black. Wore the same blue spandex and yellow stripe. Presumably American. Never saw him but once and that might just have been a" who's who?" Entry. I think...could be wrong but 70's era and the fight with The High Eveloutionary.

Marked fact that Bloodwynd hasn't featured in any of the DC animations I've seen recently. DC should make a lot more use of him, even if he featured more in the 'magic' circles of John Constantine, Zatana, Captain Marvel / Shazam, Black Adam, et. al. I hope we will see him featured more soon, and hopefully at some point in the DCEU.
Memories! I remember in Death of Superman event, Blue Beetle was so distracted by speculating Bloodwynn being a traitor, he got fucked up by Doomsday😆 (if I'm remembering correctly).
They definitely should update his uniform, and his character. If he’s so powerful, it needs to be on display as feats rather than a telltale version of it. A battle between him and Icon would awesome to know who is powerful enough to keep up either way Superman.

Ehhh I dunno if he's an answer to Spawn, my guy literally defeated the Devil and God lol but as is typical they'll ignore these characters or make them take a mantle instead of forging ahead with them. It just needs a good writer with a smart storyline. Come on man, stop painting anyone who holds CG viewpoint as one note people. Good characters are good characters period - nobody bat an eye at Batwing who took his own identity but looked at Tim dodgy because ultimately he's not Batman and I still like the idea of him as a character.
If they brought Bloodwynd back with just a good story nobody would bat an eye but I'd bet my bottom dollar instead of a good story it would be black black blackity black rather than focused on the character and a decent story. While some people like that added to their story, others don't and are pulled out of the escapism content as a result, but the one thing we ALL like is a good story.
They are sleeping on Bloodwynd but I did notice that Sync was treated the same for a long time then coincidentally after some of your content we started to see a lot more of him. Maybe it was just a coincidence but just keep making decent content with these characters visible and who knows maybe he might get his shine soon.
