    Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to my UA-cam channel.
Ok, so this project is one of my special pieces I created 10 years ago when I was 27 years old. I have been meaning to upload this video for the past 2 months, but I was extremely unwell.
Because of the effort involved throughout the design, the numerous iterations along with several prototypes, I decided to cover the project in three videos, part 1 (What is an aperture?), part 2 (Prototypes - this one) and a final part 3 (The Masterpiece) to bring better clarity and a better understanding of what it is I am doing.
If you haven’t already, please see part 1 (What is an Aperture?), my aperture introduction the last video appeared on my channel. Part 1 basically gives an insight on what exactly an aperture is, before I started diving in deeper to this project. It’s basically a brief introduction into an aperture from a photography perspective whilst using the human eye biology to explain similarities. For example, in that video I discuss how our pupils act as a natural aperture, increasing or decreasing in diameter to capture light from our surroundings as needed.
In the in-depth video discussion that follows, I will discuss my earlier prototype to the final prototype design. To be clear, this video (part 2) shows two separate models/prototypes of my aperture, each with different iterations of various components. The first prototype was created a long time ago, whilst the second prototype was reverse engineered from the first prototype. Because of the vast amount of information that follows throughout this video, I thought it would be best to make a video to present the actual project/masterpiece in later date. I have named it the masterpiece throughout this video to avoid confusion from it and these 3D models.
I have designed and created my aperture to be the largest jewellery like working aperture in the ‘World’, with its own custom mechanism (one of a kind), and the only of its kind on UA-cam, whilst also taking it to higher levels with its high-grade hand finished parts. Hence, you won’t see it anywhere else, or anything close to it.
When I state, ‘World’, I am basically meaning one of them. However, this ‘one’ is designed away beyond your standard aperture, using a completely different mechanism, making it one of a kind to get the diaphragm to function correctly. As you can imagine, the project involved vast amounts of precision, design, mechanical engineering, high end fabrication with a bit of electrical/electronic engineering incorporated into it.
With my aperture, due to its large size, a small f-number means the aperture in the fully opened position requires somewhere for the aperture’s diaphragm (blades) to fall back into (housing or surround). With a camera aperture, they are much smaller and can fall back into the designed lens casing. I take all these important aspects into consideration throughout the design of my system. During the video, I discuss in huge detail, the design stage from early prototyping to the final prototyping of all these interesting features. I leave no stone unturned.
I discuss, diaphragm design, the driving mechanism design, the power unit selection and mount points, from my failed attempt with prototype 1 to the very successful prototype 2.
To close out the video, I demonstrate the smooth operation of the diaphragm with various views of both prototypes. Part 3 of this project will follow in due course and will be demonstrated with great satisfaction, considering the amount of dedication given to the different approaches to design and manufacture the final prototype system. Not only will I demonstrate the final design in operation, but I will cover the entire manufacturing stage into constructing such a unique piece/project.
Hopefully if the weather picks up in the next 4 weeks, this video will be set in a distinctive place to match that of the project as it deserves such an awesome background. Doing projects such as this, is to show a difference worldwide by bringing uniqueness, distinctiveness, rareness and to basically to put myself out there, so do enjoy.
If you’ve already watched the detailed video, I hope you’ve enjoyed, please subscribe and hit the thumbs up if you did. It’s a project I’ve been meaning to cover for years. If you want to see this project evolve, along with other interesting and unique projects, please subscribe, and hit the post notifications bell to see the latest from my channel.
    Enjoy the video 😊
Peace out and much love! Jeffrey
