I discovered your videos this evening, and I have spent a most enjoyable time watching you create. 😊This particular piece resonated so much with me ~ "His words gave her wings", how precious ❤️I have never seen anyone incise into wax before, and then add oil sticks. This is a wonderful technique! The use of gold is the perfect way to finish any project; absolutely enchanting. I shall look forward to more of your inspirational tutorials!Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents. All best wishes, Sue x❤️x
Just found this video. Learned several new tips; thanks! Never thought of using my sculpture loop tool to remove excess wax from the sides; I usually put it on the griddle then wipe it off. I love the look of the inked edges of the text. And esp. love your use of script stamps in the wax/glazed with the oil stick. I never thought of doing that. Now I want to buy some stamps! Happy to have found your videos; looking forward to watching more of them.
Lovely piece :) Just in case you don't know, another thing you can do to get the wax off the edges is to touch all four edges to your griddle for a second or two. Takes a little practice, and do it on a fully cooled piece.
SO sorry for my delayed response. We've been in the middle of a relocation. Here is a link to the PanPastel store on Amazon. www.amazon.com/stores/PanPastel/page/E7C56371-143B-4489-97E5-7D9AB02F4063?ref_=ast_bln
I have just found your channel and am delighted to have been able to watch you work on this project. TFS th fab video, your finished project is gorgeous. I saw and liked a similar technique in a Kelly Rae Robert’s book, but have not working with wax so far so it has been really useful seeing in action. I look forward to watching more of your video. Warmest best wishes from across the miles here in France, Susanne
Susanne! Hello from the states. So lovely to read your comments. Thank you so much. I will have to check out that book. I'm so glad the video was helpful.
Hello there from New Zealand :) I have just ordered my first lot of encaustic medium, after watching a few tutorials and getting so excited to give it a go! Thanks so much for your video; most enjoyable and inspiring. I can't wait to give it a go. x
Hello from the U.S., Kim! Thank you so much for commenting. Yay for inspiration! Let me know how it goes and if I can help to encourage you in any way!
Kim! I think I accidently replied using my other UA-cam account. Oh well. ANYWAY, I am sooooooooo excited for you! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Let me know if you need ANY encouragement!
Thanks so much, I will! My wax has arrived, but I'm still in search of an old griddle so I'm chomping at the bit to get started, lol. Can't wait to try your techniques! Kind regards, Kim
I just adore this exquisite artpiece, it sort of sings to me, if you know what i mean. I really do love this and i subbed you because now i have, i shall enjoy more of your work. I would so love to make something like this, if you dont mind me using your as inspiration? Hugs Tibby xxx
You re fantastic artist congratulation, I have two question for you please. Can I use the pigment for oil ? and if not what kind de pigment do you use? the second question, can I use the wax from the normal candle please? thank you very much, can you answer me a soon you can? because I would like to start this days because you inspired me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO SHARE YOUR KNOWLOGDES.
Thank you, Estela. That means so much. I used oil paint pigment sticks from R and F. www.amazon.com/Pigment-Stick-19Ml-Color-Set/dp/B00KLIXGCU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1475165538&sr=8-2&keywords=r+and+f+pigment+sticks
Well, you can certainly do that as I have done in this video...and most of my work tends to include a lot of that. But there are many encaustics artists doing all kinds of new things with this medium. It's pretty remarkable. I am still learning.
The encaustic medium can be heated in a pan that I also use to melt glue pellets? Or I need to buy special? Also, I have a heat gun for shrink bag use but is that also something I can use for this artwork or buy a special gun? TY. Your work is beautiful. Inspiring. Rachel
Oops, I forgot to respond to this. You might want to test the pan out a little bit first. I've tried various ones, trying to save money. You can check out the local dollar store or even a thrift store for aluminum pans, too. Try out your heat gun, it should work, though. Like you, I didn't want to buy a special one so I started out by using the same heat tool I had for other stuff. In time, I got one from a hardware store.
I love your work and so enjoy watching your process! Could I take a moment of your time to ask a question? When using natural elements to embed, such as flowers, leaves, etc, do you need to dry them first or can they be embedded in their natural state? I didn’t know if the wax would help preserve it or if it would possibly mold like it does in some other mediums. Thank you so much in advance for your time!
Great question, Wendy! I always dry my flowers, etc. I haven't actually tried embedding them in their natural state. I guess I just assumed they would get moldy, etc. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. learn. and comment!
P.A. Bragg : Thank you for responding! I feel an experiment coming on as soon as I get my supplies! 🤪 You have inspired me to try this medium and I’m so excited to get started! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping us all grow!! Many Blessings to you!!
I just found this tutorial and so inspired...I about trying to launch a new product made from wax.....and I would love your help in helping me work out which mediums or waxes I would need to decorate? Can I please email you?

When I brought my griddle home, my husband thought I had suddenly become domestic and that he was going to get pancakes. Wrong. Haha.
Beautiful. I'm almost brave enough to give this a try now.
That makes me so happy! Don't hesitate to ask any questions as you begin.
I really really love 💕 this. Thank you so much

Икарно! Скажите пожалуйста, коричневое в тюбике, это что? Масляная краска? Или что нибудь на акриловой основе?

The encaustic wax paint is specially made for mixed media. I don't know much about regular candle wax at all.
Cool!
Really like this!
Thanks so much!
Fun! 😊
So this art form is basically fusing paper designs between wax?
Well, you can certainly do that as I have done in this video...and most of my work tends to include a lot of that. But there are many encaustics artists doing all kinds of new things with this medium. It's pretty remarkable. I am still learning.

Oh wow, that's awesome. If you email me at ForThoseWhoWeep@gmail.com, I would love to gift you with an encaustic piece from my studio. :)
It looks wonderful! Do you know how long it holds up-the wire, would it erode the piece over time?
Great question! I haven't had any erosion issues with the wire. It's coated so I think that helps. Thanks for watching!
Скажите пожалуйста, чем полировать в конце работы?
Thank you for sharing. Very informative! Do you have a favorite supplier?
Thanks, Jenny. Most of the time I just look for who has the best deal. Of course, if I am in a hurry, I use Amazon haha. I love R & F, though.
I just found this tutorial and so inspired...I about trying to launch a new product made from wax.....and I would love your help in helping me work out which mediums or waxes I would need to decorate? Can I please email you?

Por favor en español gracias.
Hi!
There’s no encaustic gesso here in Spain. Can I use normal gesso?
Thanks!
