Also as far as my Metroid knowledge goes, Ridley is *NOT* a dinosaur. He's probably the most legit dragon in Smash.
In Metroid Canon, he is actually really smart. He can speak, read, fly a ship, and probably has a hit list with Samus in bold letters written in blood.

About ridley talking/being intelligent: in the manga, he actually talked quite a bit. He is also very intelligent, but he prefers to use a more savage persona in the games. Remember, samus is terrified of ridley - not just in *that* scene, but even in ridley's reveal trailer for smash. He uses psychological warfare against samus.

I would also like to know what "that scene" is.
It's when the cloned ridley appears in metroid other m. Samus effectively has a vietnam flashback and is paralysed with fear, allowing ridley to almost kill her until a federation soldier samus knows sacrifices himself to save her. Many people don't like that scene because samus has fought ridley countless times, yet now she breaks down like a child.
They sort of mirrored that scene in ridley's reveal trailer. When he appears, you can see samus' eyes shaking with fear. *This* is a good portrayal of samus' fear. She surpresses it in order to not get killed, but it is still there.

As a lucario main, I can confirm that he has the aura mechanic so yes, he does get stronger the more damage he takes in.
