Great video. I find your voice and delivery very reassuring and encouraging! I already knew how to wire up a plug, but wanted to double check and you give lots of small tips that a regular person like me doesn't know about. Huge thanks.
Consider using wire ferrules for extra safety. Bare stranded wires may looks like they make good connection at first, but over time they spread around, lose pressure and the connection quality degrades, which can catch fire on too much load. Ferrules were invented to prevent this.
Hi hope you can see my question. I want to switch a AU 250v 16A to a US 110v. What would be my best option when it comes to a replacement plug? Should I buy one that matches the machine?
It's empty, the third pin in a UK plug will fill it. Am I wrong? As you said it's dangerous for a two-pin plug, but it will work fine for a three-pin plug. Otherwise, in a UK plug into an EU adapter where would the third pin go?
Hi, thank you so much for this video. I have a Xiaomi oven of 1300W that I would like to use in France. Can I do the same for this appliance of high voltage? Thank you so much!
I use the same power strip in australia since its the same socket used there and also fits those two pin euro adapters (e.g usb wall adapters) and Us 2 flat pins. Although the Chinese 3 pin plug is same as the one in Australia, it did not fit well into the socket. So i did the same thing you did but with an Au/Nz plug i got from bunnings. And it fits well now
@@DSmartLife I used the video and did my replacement of my chinese plug. I saw the adapter they supplied was very weak and thin with no grounding. Thanks again for the video.
Unfortunately my Chinese plug is part of the device. I was wondering if one can simply bend the pins to make them parallel so that t hey fit in a US socket? Has anyone tried that?
Its so annoying that banggood send out units with AU and EU randomly. I got one with AU plug and requested the EU one. So it seems that im going to need to cut the plug end off and solder in a new wire/plug. And some heat shrink tube.
Yes. - although you should have solved your problem, by now. As long as you use the appropriate Plug (Type C or F)- (and one hopes that it is a Type F - with a "Protective Earth" connection), although that plug/socket is NOT polarised !!!

Hello, your solution will be identical to his video. If the plug is a screw type you can just unscrew and buy the relevant plug. If it's an injection moulded plug then you'll need to cut it off. Once you have access to the wires you can choose between getting a wireable 2 pin Europlug if the device has two wires or if 3 pins then you can get the local one relevant for the country - you can either get a Hybrid schuko one that will work for most places, or if you're going to France, Belgium or Poland for example, then you'll need one that has the hole for the earth connection as these countries have a earth pin sticking out of the socket. If you're going to most other places like Germany, Spain, South Korea, Indonesia then you need a a Schuko plug. You can sometimes find these on eBay UK if you need them before you leave the UK. If you can share with me which country you'll be going to I can provide more specific information. Note Switzerland use their own sockets and plugs and Italy has their own unique situation sometimes, but yes, let us know and we can help you further.
