As have others, I have listened to many performances of this song - first heard Pelageya singing it, loved it and searched for others. Fortunately, this one finally found me, and I have a new favorite. I don't know how anyone walked past this - I would have been transfixed. Bravo!

Actually the song is not a folk one, it has its authors: Aleksandr Shaganov - lyrics, Igor Matvienko - music! But for the Russian people it is already folk!
So often, I will hear a Russian song and think: this is such a great MANLY song, but then, to my surprise I will hear a version by a woman and it will be just as good or even better.
I love this song.. but I am very disappointed... The old clip had Russian subtitles, which allowed me to sing together with these magnificent girls, despite that my knowledge of the Russian language is rather limited... and now I have to print lyrics and try to synchronise my signing with them, which is not easy... and my printer is broken... Bring subtitles back!!!!!!!!!!!!
