So happy people are all saying it is too much money. Absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah, hopefully Toyota Canada sees this
@@calvinkang1224from what I have seen in Alberta they don’t care about Canadians. They make Canadians wait a crazy amount of time for a rav4 while sending all their production to the US market. Toyota is completely taking for granted their Canadian market.
@@dontdriveangree That's so true, Toyota dealers in US has so many 4runner(5th gen), new Tundras sitting on their lots while Canadian dealers hard to have any vehicles to show to their customers.
I hope these trucks just sit on the lot and no one buys. What a crazy pricing for these.
They’ve priced me out of a Taco. Looks like I’ll be buying something else after 22 years in a Taco.
You know this is the top trim right ? There is an SR5 still …. Just saying
@@Dontdoitguy True enough. Adjusted for inflation the 2024 SR5 Double Cab 4x4 is only about $3K more than it was in 2002. Considering how much safer and more capable it is, that's not bad.
So my trd off road premium in 2022 was $50,440. Now a base sr5 is that price. 2 years later? That’s ridiculous. I have leather seats, 360 camera, moonroof, etc etc.
Zr2 bison on 35’s is cheaper.
@@northerntoyota7584 Base SR5 Double Cab 4x4 is $42K American. The prices listed in the video are Canadian dollars.
Nice trucks but still feel the Chevy ZR2 is the better truck. Thanks for the video.
Generally a Toyota fan but yeah these prices are crazy! I have a feeling customers will gravitate towards GM and Ford. Those are great trucks as well.
Don’t you think the truck prices of all manufacturers are crazy?? I don’t think it’s just a Toyota thing. What truck were you thinking of specifically
$64000 to START!!!!!!! Meaning 70K with any decent options bahahahah. Crazy. I’ll take my 2023 Canyon AT4 any day for $20K less
20k less that is insane💀
at4x is the comparable model with locker and good shocks, which starts at $55k but generally sitting on lots at $60k plus msrp. Not that different. Sure, zr2 offers value in the mid $40k range over anyone else these days unless ford offers a ranger tremor with lockers and upgraded suspension.
Don't forget the luxury tax in Canada lol
At these price points let's not forget the nissan frontier still exists.. I mean i love tacomas, I'm a toyota fan but at these prices, hard to justify. I just bought a pre owned frontier pro4x for 15k less than a tacoma trd pro.. and it's a great truck. Can't blame people for considering other options when they price aggressively. It's a shame because I love toyotas, but at these prices it's tough..
i bought a new 2024 pro4x OTD for 25k less than these trucks. absolutely insane pricing.
I did exactly the same
Bingo
I find it interesting that Toyota prices potential buyers out of the market. They’re allowing people, who may have been diehard fans, to consider other brands.
In my opinion something like the ZR2 or AT4X is a much better value for your money.
A power tailgate,🤔 but you need a hockey 🏒 stick to hold the hood open 😮
2 mpg more for like $20k for hybrid … too bad I can’t post a gif, I would post the kid giving a thumbs up at the computer
$20k more? I think it's only about $4-6k, at least in the lower TRD variants.
Lmaooo
Toyota Canada is really telling us to bend over and take it. This is why after years of loyal Toyota ownership (owned 5 Toyota's) left and bought a GM truck last year. I know other loyal Toyota truck owners dropping the brand due to pricing.
Looks like Toyota doesn't want to sell many Taco's here in Canada. I'll be going GM or Nissan for my next truck. Great video as always, keep them coming.
They are being sold instantly and hard to find here in Ontario.
Im sorry but the most slept on trim is the limited with fulltime 4wd. Sadly you guys never really mention this.
I’m glad I bought my 2023 Nissan pro4x, even loaded with heated seats and steering wheel I only paid $44,000 US. The price of these new vehicles is really getting out of hand. I think the Nissan right now is the best value in the segment. Just my opinion.
Didn't see the disconnected sway bar from the outside to show the difference between with and without.
They did that on purpose. He sure kept running his mouth though.
I'll keep my paid off 17 offroad
Would have been nice to have an outside view when you went through the holes with the front sway bar disconnected so we could have seen the difference
I thought the same thing
Ranger Raptor and Colorado ZR2/Canyon AT4X are a much better value than TRD Pro or Trailhunter at these prices. Yes, Toyota gives you a little more unnoticeable torque and better fuel economy but it all comes at an excessive cost.
Better "new" value until you drive then off the lot or in 5 years when they have competly depreciated. Toyota is king for both reliability and holding thier value.
@@NorthweSteelheadJunkiesToyota fan boy much, Toyota is changing and with all the hybrid bs I wonder if it will still keep that legendary market value despite all being built in Mexico.
Dunno why ppl care bout market retention value. I buy a car to run it to the ground, not to waste more money to buy a new one... 35k less (can) for a colorado ZR2, and chevy parts are less costly to replace long term.
FYI, let's not forget to mention the lack of front lockers and their bloody archaic 4x4 system that doesn't have 4A as standard or requires you to rock back and forth to go on 4 wheel low and refuses to put rear lockers unless you are four wheel low....wtf is that!!!! For this price! Guy please! Wake up and smell reality.
Wow spend 70k to get 24mpg in a truck that doesn't feel powerful, doesn't have segment-shattering performance
The Tacoma is mediocre af.
Your also paying a fortune for that hybrid system that uses an old nickel metal hydride battery and has around 100k miles life expectancy. Any money you save on gas is going right back into a battery replacement.
Prices are insane for such a small truck. PS: Every time I see someone using crawl control I just wanna die
I bought my first Tacoma in 2004. Small truck, reliable and affordable. It was my favorite truck. Toyota management needs to rethink its customer base and what made them popular.
Excellent review and episode!!! 😁
Love the UA-cam channel. I have a 2022 Tacoma and wont be giving my naturally aspirated v6 up. What I would save on fuel with a 4-cylinder, I would be spending on maintenance for a smaller displacement.
Got my deposit back from dealership in Alberta. Started to look into canyon and trail boss. 80k! For TRD? That’s just insane. Writing these comments so greedy corporate folks at Toyota are aware of absolute displeasure when it comes to price gouging by them.
Wow the Taco Pro and TH will be a $100Kcdn truck, once you get it out the dealer when you add the sales & luxury taxes!!! That is completely crazy!
i thought the hybrid was going to gave wayy better mpg i dont really see the plus size of this hybrid because you lose 500 pound of towing and a 3-5 grand charge for it. and yes hybrid is faster but who need to go fast in a truck
Great video TK!
Great video as always, I'm glad you guys show the new trucks that are out now. It just confirms my next truck will be a 70's something, Ford, Chevy, or Dodge doesn't really matter to me.
I hate where trucks have gone, way too much computerized stuff & way, way too expensive.
Another great review
As someone shopping for a new truck within 1-2 years and wants to keep for 15+ years, a Toyota is top on mind long term. Sadly these mid size wars with no discounts will have me looking back at the full size market again and likely a F150 stx with the 5.0.
Definitely should be more incentives on full size trucks given their larger production volume. I love my base F-150 5.0. Would love a hybrid for that sweet onboard power, but definitely agree that if prices are similar get the most vehicle you can or feel you'd need.
I've owned 5 tacomas and my last one has the most problems, paint peeling off around the windows and under the hood, gear hunting ,kicks when cold coming to a stop. I'm done with being scamed by toyota.
What year/model?
Toyota Canada doesn’t seem interested in allocating vehicles here. I’d love to know how many we will get like one Trd pro and one trail hunter per province?
They can keep them. Was considering a 5' bed trd off road but there is a 10k difference between an auto and MT. Add another $6500 for hybrid? Yikes...Choice in Canada is a disaster and these are sitting on lots near me with no buyers.
Why not show us the outside difference on sway bar vs disconnected sway bar
Whatever happened to incorporating the display screen into the dash rather than tacked on as if it’s an after thought?
I don't remember them advertising previous gen TRD Pro as some baja, flying thru dunes truck...
The raptor and trx didn't exist back then either
I think I'll keep my TRD V6. No problem with mpg.
Mpg sucks and the v6 too
This is freaking crazy. I have been waiting for TRD pro since last may but I not in anyway put my hard earned. This is crazy screw toyota
The Nissan Pro-4X is actually the bargain (more so than the Chevy).
it's already on canada marketing?
That's a steep premium for 3 MPG and no better than the F-150 hybrid. Plus the weight cuts into payload and towing. I'm not against hybrids but some make a lot more sense than others.
Yeah, the Ford hybrid makes the most sense. A lot more towing and payload capability, not to mention the 7.2 kw inverter in the trunk. And all around the same price for this Tacoma
Hybrid. And as you mentioned, Toyota’s reliability status has suffered in recent years. I’m going with the Ford, literally in a few months.
Look at the 2023 JD Power Initial Quality study. Toyota and Lexus are now battling with Mercedes over who is more reliable, or less in this case.💀
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 I have long believed Toyota is overrated. But that study shows Dodge at the top and Chrysler nearly at the bottom. I wouldn't use that as a source to support anything.
@@jjpark1989 all depends on trim level. The base TRDs can be equipped with the hybrid for under $50k. Yes still incredibly expensive, but the least expensive Powerboost F-150 is now about $60k, so still a decent chunk more. Just depends on what you want or need.
@@ALMX5DP You would be wrong Ford is giving away the Hybrid powerboost as a no cost option. XLT with discounts and rebates can be had for 50,000k + easily.
cant remember what size of bit you need.
Starting at $63.9K? Jeez
9 bolts and that airdam comes off andre from tfl took one off.
With dealer markups this will be a 100k truck. And we all thought the Gladiator was too much...
i go to longo toyota. 0 markups
Sorry man, i dont care how down low the torque comes in, im not dropping 50k before taxes on a 4 banger pickup. At that range just spend a little more and get a lower trim fullsize. What irritates me the most is there are so many much needed upgrades over the 3rd gen. But why did it take til 2024 to get rear disc brakes and over 1000# of payload and now youre charged an arm and a leg for it.
Rant aside, love the content boys. Keep it up eh
Absolutely. I'm astonished that people get so excited over these trucks. Considering everything else, I shouldn't be, I guess.
I agree I'll take a full size Chevy or Nissan Pro-4X before I'll ever think about purchasing these Toyota trucks any day...
Thank you for the video. I have been waiting for this price announcement. I hope my 2021 4Runner lasts forever. These can all sin on the lot till they rot away. The automotive industry no longer cares about consumers.
guess im going with the Colorado this was only thing that could have beaten it was hybrid
They are going to sell only 10 trucks 🚚 because I'm not driving FLYING TRUCKS.
That is a ridiculous price point that means in Canada this thing will be around $90,000 makes me feel like I got a good deal on my 2024 Colorado Zr2 for 61k
I have no doubt they the Tacoma‘s will sell. As PT Barium once said “ Theirs one born every minute “.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wait until the 4Runner CAD pricing comes out... I t will probably be even crazier.
I've seen the US pricing. It's not that terrible if you just look at the base price, but if you want any options it's gets crazy fast. You need to go up to a limited to get SR5 premium options now, and up to a Platinum to get what used to be on the limited.
PRICES PROBLEMAS.
WE NEED TO STOP ACCEPTING ✋️ WHAT THEY WANT FROM US: $$$$dinerooooo.
They’re gonna sell. Regardless of what people are saying Tacomas are moving. Especially the higher premium trim levels. You’re getting lot with the redesign. That said I was expecting a 59k MSRP price point I agree over 60k is a bit ridiculous. People will buy them nonetheless.
The release for the tailgate and the hype over dampened tailgates is just ridiculous. If you put a cover on the bed you now have to grab the tailgate to pull it down. Mine is so slow I pull it down even if I don't have a cover on it. I prefer a non dampened tailgate with a regular handle.
Seems like a lot of stuff for a little bit of gain Toyota just making everything hybrid just to keep from going all ev cause there evs are trash but the hybrids on there trucks and suvs are not really added a big mpg number smh 🤔
I don't get it why is Canadian prices so high sometimes 10k
I got my off road Taco premium 2024 for 58k so not bad at all
64 grand ? 😅😅😅😅my 2006 chevy 4X4 looks pretty good ,to much plastic ,to much electronic crap that WILL break ,no thanks 😅😅😅
TRD Off Road or Sport would be the better ones. And then I don’t really plan to get a 4th Gen at these prices. I’ll keep my 3rd Gen a while and maybe get another 3rd Gen taco used or pre-2022 Tundra.
I'd have busted a gut if you'd have taken the Limited high-speed off-roading! Brought it back with the air dam dragging half-off 😂
So if I step in a puddle filled with $60k USD, ranger raptor it is.
😂😂😂
Those power tailgates make me laugh. Be a man, open and close your own gate. Undampened gates get bonus points.
Those seats are so dumb. Can't get my head around these new Tacos when you can get comparable trucks for less
Everything Toyota does is so mindbogglingly nonsensical.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 it's weird though that all that mindboggling and nonsensical stuff has kept Toyota in what seems to be quite a stable and profitable space in the market.
That price is insane. As a 4runner owner I am starting to see the price of hybrid 4Runner will be over 100K including tax, oh well, I guess I will keep my 5th gen for a longer period of time.
Few makes are putting air dams on trucks. Easy removal for every single one lol
what color are the seats in the limited?
Nnahhh I'll pass on all models.... I'll go with Chevy/GMC & more then likely Nissan Pro-4x. I'll just lift it 2-3" bigger and better tires plus no turbo crap in Nissan.
Price gouge much?
I’m confused by Steve… the trd off-road in the us is 45k and with the exchange rate is 61,700cad - but that model is for sale in Canada for only $54,200…. So Canada gets the volume model waaaayyy cheaper than the us…. Maybe Steve isn’t aware of the exchange rate?!?!
Even with these crazy prices people will pay over sticker! Dealers know it!
TK, The people buying the high end trucks have money to burn or benefit from a generous tax write-off or both. I am far more concerned about Toyota Canada dropping lower trim models from our market. For 2025 they won't even offer their Camry LE in Canada. 🤬
IMO, this will be DOA because the price point will be too high. Toyota is having a hard time selling Tundras with hybrid because of the higher prices and poor build quality. The hybrid option adds too much cost to what is already 5K more on the taco then the competition. AT 65-70K you can buy a GM denali or ZR2 for less and have a nicer interior. These new tacos cost as much as full sizes now. The fact they build these at two plants in Mexico using cheap labor and offer nothing but globs of hard plastics at these prices is BS. This is just a money grab sucking fans to paying a much higher toyota tax. BUt I'Im hearing many are switching brands to GM or Nissan to get more value. IMO, there is a limit to how much some are willing to pay for a mid size as they are all depreciating assets.
Yeah, right now Tundras are $7K off around me, domestics about $9K off. When I bought my truck in 2018 midsize trucks didn't make any sense because with all the incentives on full size trucks you had to really need or want the smaller size to even consider one. They are so much smaller, less capable, and not much if any more efficient. That changed in 2020 when the supply chain broke and incentives disappeared but we are getting back to that point again. Dealer lots are filling up.
I got a fully loaded f150 tremor for as much as these
Agreed 100%
💯
Yep. First year for an all new truck should always be considered a test year. From then, supplies will just go up and price will just go down. It might be a little different in terms of timing here in Canada but in a long run, it’ll be the same. With trailhunter being at the 86k range.. that’s the price of the LC, a Sequoia Off-Road, and a hybrid Tundra which are discounted now. I cannot justify the price compared to those vehicles. They should revisit these numbers.
Anyway, thanks Truck King for the video!
They should make a TRD PRO that's 5k cheaper with 17 inch wheels and regular seats
How about removing the iso seats and dropping the price to 55k. Then we’re talking.
I’ll keep my F150 extended cab V8. It’s cheaper and will do “truck” things better.
The new ram RHO starts at 69k and this starts at 65k it’s a no brainer to get the ram
Those prices are going crazy😢 nice truck but way to expensive for what they are
I know they could sell a basic work truck with no frills for $20k... So anything above $20k is too much
I love how you conveniently left out the disconnected video and went with the in cab. Not hiding anything here. 🤦♂️
I was thinking the exact same thing, I was ready for the disconnected video shot and when it wasn’t showed I was disappointed and suspicious. I would like to know why, because this has been one of my favorite truck channel but that just seemed non-transparent?
Or they just didn't have external video of that portion? Not everything has to be a conspiracy lol
Disconnected?
No ill intent, I promise! It was simply a case of being pressed for time on this event. There was a lot to cover, so some things were missed. You are absolutely correct on this one too, that shot would have made it a better segment.
Once we get the chance to bring these home we'll give them a proper off-road test anyways. The course Toyota set up for us was pretty tame. - Stephen
Pricing is out of line Toyota. Need a true evaluation of these prices.
Wow...The Ranger Raptor cost less than the Pro. Don't care that its a Ford but still c'mon Toyota.
That has 400 hp and is an actual Baja truck, unlike the wannabe TRD Pro.
First thing I need to do is find a bank that’s easy to rob. 👍
Air Dam looks rediculous ( most remove it I hear ) The iso Shocks in the seats are another waste of money to 95% of consumers. Over priced as Toyota's usually are. And for Gods sake, integrate that center touch screen. Its 2024... It looks like someone mounted a tablet to the dash.
Wouldn’t by a Tacoma with your money!
The price is too much to pay for a midsize truck. Just wait until the dealers add their mark ups! 😂
Yikes. ZR2 is only 50k loaded up.
I don't know where you get your information but ZR2 is the first midsize truck with a front Locker
@@johnathonevans8318 thanks! Fixed it
Thanks, fixed it
Neither. The price is at least $25k too high, and I am not interested in a small turbo charged engine. I will stick with my atv for off roading before I pay that much for a small truck.
I bought a 21 titan pro4x for 56. I can't believe they want 63 for the tacos. Buy the titan, it is worth every penny, toyota is obviously trying to rip you off with no f given.
20000 dollars difference for the trail and pro in Canada 😂😂😂 off road premium it is then
Figured this kinda pricing was coming for the pro and trailhunter in canada. I grabbed a 4th gen offroad premium gas version and it’s awesome! I don’t need the extra power and at almost 500lbs heavier I don’t think I even want the hybrid for anything offroad anyways, this engine makes generous low end torque as it is
I wonder if they’ll offer the hybrid power train on the Off Road Premium in Canada. Seems so in the US.
@joeimbesi5361 they offer it in Canada on the Tacoma so why wouldn't they. We don't have as many teirs up here so ill say yes
Who tf is spending 80 grand on a truck and taking it into the bush? For 80 grand you can buy an f150 tremor with the v8 and actually tow a decent sized RV. And even the ford is overpriced at 80k. But at least youre getting a FULL sized truck. Toyota is out of their minds with the pricing. Hell, for a few grand more you can get into a new Lexus GX
Nawh.
$63,900 before markups.
Quick math:
$6,400 down (10%)
+ tax and interest (7.64)
60 Months Payment: $1260
@12.5% of take home pay you should be earning $157,500 annually to be looking at this car (assuming the appropriate taxes are coming out of your paycheck).
National average wage (US Census): $63795.
Percentage making $150k annually: approx. 8.3%
5 Year price increase Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro:
2019 MSRP: $42,960
2024 MSRP: $63,900
49% increase
Wage growth 2019-2024: 1.7% (Source: US Treasury)
These price increases far outpace inflation and wage growth.
Toyota is targeting 8% of total market. Or people who just want to act fiscally irresponsible.
But if you're paying it all Cash, Why aren't you looking at a Tundra?
Great comment. Should be a PSA for the financialy illiterate.
The price tag is an immediate turn off regardless of the bells and whistles.
I've been looking for a new truck, and Toyota taking advantage of the brand fanaticism has essentially ensured that there is zero chance I'll pay for these overpriced trucks.
That air dam😂😂🤮🤮🤮
3rd gen beats all of these
So you pay hybrid prices for +2-3 MPG, no thanks.
A whole lotta ZONKS with this new 🌮 PRO. Why not just buy a fully loaded Tundra if you’re willing to shell out that much money instead of paying about the same on this compact pick ‘em up truck?😳
Blah!
That means with tax and licensing fees, you will be paying $72 thousand. Yikes
