  • Atomstack has asked me to review their PS portable laser engraving machine. In this video I show the P7 engraving and cutting different material. There are several things I like about this unit and a few minor things that I don't like. Overall, this is a very nice little machine with a big laser. The highly focused laser dot from this unit makes short work of cutting through 3mm plywood and 3mm black acrylic.

      Not directly. I would reach out to Atomstack support and see what they have. www.atomstack.com/ I saw an entire refurbished P7 for $170 on their site.

      Thank you for asking. I purchased the honeycomb base from Amazon (amzn.to/3uLSpgw). The rest I build.

    I am interested in if this engraver would do a decent job on copper. Like small medallions to apply to projects, in essence making my mark 🤪. It's the smallest and cheapest I've found so far that's supposed to engrave on metal.

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  Рік тому

      An interesting idea. I have not tried working with copper yet. You had me thinking if I even had any copper I could try. I just recycled a bunch of copper pipe. I could have cut a piece off of that and flattened it. I will dig around to see what I can find and give it a try. So far, the Atomstack P7 has worked well on my smaller projects.

      While for me it's a stretch $$ but I'd like to make sure people know that an individual made "this" and it wasn't a kit or commercial product, and I want to create everything from scratch including my ID... 🤪

      I tried doing some simple engraving on copper and it just didn't work. I tried a couple methods and neither left any engraving on the copper. I will be posting that video in a few weeks. I wish I had better news for you on that.

    Hello friend, your video is great, can you put a subtitle in Spanish? Make another video of programs to design dog and cat tags

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  Рік тому +1

      Great question! I will not be generating Spanish subtitles, BUT!! You can tell UA-cam to display the Closed Caption and change the language Spanish! I do take some time to clean up the CC text that is generated in an effort to help the translation to do a better job.
      support.google.com/youtube/answer/100078?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
      With the CC on, click on the setting icon (it looks like a gear). There, you should see option "Subtitles/CC" with a selected language. Click on this line will give you some options to change how this looks such as selecting a different language. UA-cam will automatically translate my English subtitles in to Spanish if that is the language you select. I hope this helps. :-)
      I have done a couple videos with the dog/cat tags. I plan on filming another one at the end of July and post that in August. 🙂

    Does this engrave silver?

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  10 місяців тому +1

      I did try copper as someone asked about that and it did not engrave on that. I can try finding an old quarter that is silver to see if it can. I am going to assume not, but you never know. It worked great on stainless steel.

      @@CNCATHomeI’ve researched and the only thing that can engrave silver is a fibre laser 😅

    This Laser cuts GLASS?

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  Рік тому +1

      It won't cut through glass but it should etch glass. I haven't done that yet with this laser but I have done it with my LE5040 which as a 5.5w laser that isn't as well focused as this one. I was able to etch glass with it easily. I have some glass now and will be testing that. 🙂

    Not convinced about safety. When the laser burns through the material being cut it hits the supporting metal and is reflected widely. This is a definite hazard. If the machine had a removable UV opaque enclosure it would be far better.

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  Рік тому +1

      Working with a laser is always a safety issue. The panoramic glass does a good job of containing the scattered/reflected light. In fact, it makes it difficult to even see what you are working on as the cut height of this laser is very close to the material. I do like the flip up guard better. the panoramic glass is removable but not a quick on and off thing for getting set up. As a general rule, we should always wear our protective goggles while working with a laser, just in case! Better save than sorry!

    May I suggest to get rid of that fake background ?

    • @CNCATHome
      @CNCATHome  Рік тому

      I'm all for that. What should I have to my background in replace of that? Behind that green screen are a bunch of storage boxes. If I would take the time and money to better light the green screen, whatever I put on there would look a lot better. I am totally open to suggestions if you have any ideas. 🙂

    • @axelSixtySix
      @axelSixtySix Рік тому +1

      @@CNCATHome well, if you don't want to move or organize your background storage another way, any curtain from mid tones to dark tones will do. Or some hardboard or any 1/4" mdf sheet. Put 2 Dollar store's 3 foot colour LEDs strips on the sides. Play with their colours until you find a combination that fits your taste or use commonly used blue+orange or pink+cyan, and you can't miss. You can also put your logo hanged over the new background (laser engraved, CNC milled, 3d printed, whatever).
      By the way, you can document your makeover on video, people would probably be inspired and would enjoy it. Especially people in the same situation than you : small space, low budget.

      @@axelSixtySix - Thank you for the feedback. I talked with a friend of mine who worked in front of the camera at a tv station and his suggestion was similar about just having a solid color background. I could try not doing the background and just leaving it the green screen that is behind me and see how that works for people. If you see that in a future video... ;-)
