Why would a dentist recommend and treat with BOTOX? 🤔 Botox is a medication placed under the skin that prevents the muscles that create fine lines and wrinkles from moving. It can be used for treatment of facial pain and muscle tension.
What areas of the face can be treated and why? Here are a few examples:
- Frontalis muscle - This muscle is located on the forehead and creates horizontal lines above your eyebrows. With botox, we can minimize or eliminate these lines.
- The “elevens” - When we frown, we can form permanent creases between our eyebrows that look like the number 11. With botox, we can work to “smooth them out”.
- The “crow’s feet” - fine lines at the corner of the eye. They can be treated with botox injections.
- The orbicularis oris muscle - It surrounds the lips, and when contracted, it forms what's called “water bottle lines” or “smoker lines”. Botox can relax these muscles and make lips appear more full.
