For scouting, as a tip: the difference in their overall and potential never changes. For instance, if a guy has 65-99 potential and 36-70 overall, then when you draft him, his potential will be 29 higher than his overall. No matter how much scouting you do, this difference will never change, the range within the attribute will just get smaller (in this example, he may go from 65-99 potential to 75-90 potential, but the overall range would also shrink to 46-61, keeping the same 29 point difference between potential and overall (90-61 = 29, 99-70 = 29). With this knowledge, you can avoid wasting time scouting players like Damion Martinez bc you can tell without scouting them at all that they’re busts. Hope you see this and it’s helpful ❤️

Hey Bengal! One other thing to consider in the future when you're drafting players.
When you see a player's overall/potential range, if the range is super wide, I'd be careful. Typically, the player's fall right around the middle of the range, estimation-wise. So, a 65-99 potential player is one I would scout AFTER scouting, say, a 75-90 potential player. You might see the 99 on the other player and have high expectations, but the second player's ranges give you a better guesstimation. This is also a great way to gauge overall. If you're picking in round 5-6 and you see a player with 75-85 potential and 67-80 overall, you know you've almost certainly got a solid enough player that can come in and make an impact early, but likely won't develop into a 90+ talent.
Also, when you're choosing players to scout individually (and you have the 90+ Efficiency/90+ POS Player scout ratings that I recommended), 18-19 year old players tend to take ~2 weeks to scout, while 21+ year old players only take 1 week. That's The Show's way of trying to be realistic -- "We've seen more of this player and can more confidently scout his abilities". Older players also tend to have those shorter overall/potential ranges I was referring to.
Anyway, I still have a lot of learning to do in regards to drafting, so I wouldn't take what I say as a science or anything. Again, I would SUPER highly recommend checking out the UA-camr 'Fiend Franchise'. He has a great video breaking everything down further (and shows how he scouts, week by week, for an entire season prior to the draft). I only recommend this because I know how much you love drafting expertly on Madden and I figured you'd like to be as good as you can be at scouting here too.

I hire 2 pitching expert scouts and have them cover all 4 regions of the SP. my 3rd scout is a pos player expert and I bounce around n get as many players done as possible. I always have over 50 guys at least %95 done by the draft. Really gives you options. Just a thought. Enjoying this so far. Thank you

Hey bengal I just wanted to say that you could turn the music up a bit in the non gameplay scenes. I’m not sure if thats the game's audio or editied in.
You should do a series of a Fantasy Draft league with legends included, all timing/player attributes based obviously. With the salary cap on too, would be dope.
You should put Melendez at Catcher if Freddy continues to struggle, I feel like the outfield depth is there to do that.

some things i’ve noticed playing this game is relievers with high walks per 9 rating tend to be much better in sim. there’s a reason i always go and get loaisiga typically

Can someone explain what all of these different stats are like especially slugging? I dont follow baseball that much and im very confused

Slugging is a percentage calculated by dividing a player's total bases by the number of hits they have. A single is 1 base, a double is 2 bases, etc. Slugging accounts for not only how often a player hits but also how 'hard' they hit.

I got burnt on a draft prospect like that. 93-97 potential and overall and he turned out to be a 75 with 75 potential. Great first overall pick

The potential rating is just how fast he will progress not what his potential overall will be. So low potential rating just means he’ll progress slowly, not that he will max out at 70
It’s kinda like madden where A potential is Superstar X factor. B is Superstar and C is just star. It doesn’t have anything to do with there actual overall.
Wait so when I go into player attributes and say it says Ethan Salas is a 99 potential it means how fast he progresses not his ceiling?
Someone with 99 potential is more likely going to get 99 overall way quicker than someone with 80 potential, but if the 99 potential player numbers are bad then his overall will go down just like anyone else’s would. For example if Freddy fermins potential is a 75 or something but he starts hitting good that doesn’t mean his overall isn’t going to go up anymore.
That's not true in the show. Potential isn't a hard cap, but if a rookie is a 75 with 70 potential then they will likely progress for a year or two (maybe go up a couple overall), but then they'll start to regress again. Potential caps players to a range of overalls
