Ms Ronstadt was one of the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s greatest singers. Only person to have the #1 spot on the Country, Pop/Rock and R&B in the same week with different songs. She has the highest selling non-English album in US history, sold over 2.5 million copies (double Platinum) in the first 24 hours of release, Canciones de mi Padre . She has sung Country/Folk, Rock, Pop, New Wave, Operetta for which she received a Tony Nomination for Pirates of Penzance, Standards with the great Nelson Riddle, Mexican Mariachi and Cuban, she even has a Christmas album. She was the first female artist to have 5 Platinum albums in a row. She was the only woman selling out arenas in the mid 70s as the headliner.
In the book "The ABCs of Baseball" L is for Linda Ronstadt. In the early eighties the term for a pitch so fast it left batters, watching it go by in Major League Baseball was a "Linda Ronstadt", because the pitch just "blew by you". A take off her late 70s hit "Blue Bayou"
Baby Boomer here. Linda was a mega star in our day...and is timeless. Mexican immigrant..You can not believe her tribute in Spanish, performance for her Dad and heritage, She also knocked it out in a big NYC hit play.. Supreme talent. Several Pop hits on radio.
Linda isn’t an immigrant. She is an American citizen, born in Tuscan. Ethnicity is around 70% European and +/- 30% Mexican. Her father was 5/8 Mexican, and she did a tribute album to honor their heritage. Her maternal grandfather of Northern European ancestry was a prolific inventor, holding almost 700 patents.
She is in the R&R Hall of Fame and deserves it. She encouraged so many to come into the rock scene in the 70s when it was dominated by men. She was a woman who was a solo artist. Her popularity has remained strong.
Linda has a a Parkinson’s-like disorder called progressive supranuclear palsy. She will always be one of the greatest. And you are so right that we are blessed with her music forever thanks to all the recordings she made.
Another great name from a great time, CAROL KING and a few of her hits IT'S TOO LATE, SO FAR AWAY, and I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE. You'll definitely love them.
The reason for so many guitars was different ones for different songs, there was a lead, rhythm and bass guitar players and sometimes different ones would play lead and rhythm, or a song requires a mandolin or acoustic guitar. Linda sang rock, soul and blues which all have different guitar needs.
Linda Ronstadt was a main staple for all of us baby boomers in the '70s... Lots of awesome songs... So sad about her losing the ability to sing on top of never marrying she's got a very interesting life story...❤
I absolutely love her! I grew up with her music and now I am alongside her with Parkinson's disease. I have had young onset Parkinson's for about 13 years now since I was 42 years old. Neil diamond also has Parkinson's as well and he had to recently retire from singing. Alan alda from mash also has it. It's becoming more and more prevalent. I pray one day they find a cure. It was so sad to watch the interview and say that she sings in her head now. This is my favorite song by her. Great reaction!❤
This was film from a concert in Germany. This was toward the end, that's why she was doing the band intros. She had one of the best bands around. They were loyal to the boss.
Point is, not only a great singer but surrounded by top musicians. WE LOVED THESE JAMS when the musicians tore it up and the do here…. you will improve your understanding of musicianship by listening to everything with open heart and open ears and show the respect they all desevere
If you start tracing the lineage of songs from the late 60's and early- to mid-70's, you will find a few names keep popping up as either a writer or collaborator - Linda Ronstadt is one, Carol King is another, Jim Steinman is yet another, and there are a few more. There was a core of writing talent that wrote songs and then either performed them themselves or passed them to other performers that they believed would do the songs justice. Linda Ronstadt wrote, collaborated, and performed - all that on top of launching some of the best talent in the music industry by giving them tunes and a stage - I'm talking about the Eagles of course. Some of her studio talent went out on their own to form the Eagles and then they shared music with Linda and Linda with them, boosting each other along the way. It was this type of collaboration and cooperation that ended up giving us "super groups" like "The Traveling Wilburys" who's songs still resonate today and revolutionized music for at least two generations of fans and listeners. Okay, I'm off my soapbox...
The condition afflicting Linda is a form of Parkinson's. People look at how many Grammys Linda won and think WOW but what made her so amazing was the diversity of the categories. A double handful of them in almost as many genres. Rock, Country, Folk, Latin American (Mariachi), Great American Songbook, etc, etc, etc She was nominated for a Toni (Broadway) for a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta. She shares one of those Chinese Theatre Stars with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for their TRIO albums. Kennedy Center for the Arts Inductee. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She filled so many arenas and thwarters the the TicketMaster of the time named her Female Performance Artist of the Decade. Check out her cover of 'Willing". I'm not much of a fan of music in general but I love Linda. She's always been a bit of an activist too.
Waddy Wachtel has been around for a minute and played with a LOT of big players. And Andrew Gold had a few hits on his own. Linda sang backup on one of them.
The thing about the people who write their songs is that they are well versed in their craft and usually experiment with different instruments and singing as well as styles of both and are often open to suggestions and ideas from experienced artists and producers as well as a lot of practicing and rehearsing their music to make the best use of the talent to achieve the best version of their songs not just recorded but live as well. This is why it’s often good to see a live performance of some of these artists especially when they’re working with the people who are really good with each other or they’re also as talented as the original artists.
There are just not enough superlatives to describe this woman. Suffice it to say, she magnetic in every way. I saw her live on this tour. Those were the days!
Back in the day bands would introduce themselves halfway through their sets, which is what Linda did here. All those instruments were being played at various times in one song or another but not all at once.
Linda is covering an R&B song from 13 years before sung by Dee Dee Warwick (sister of Dionne). Dionne and Dee Dee are the Aunts of Whitney Houston. Dolly Parton wrote I Will Always Love You and Linda covered it. Whitney covered Linda's version (at Kevin Costner's suggestion). Dolly said Linda took that song to the bank and Whitney broke the bank.
Why oh why are you talking over the music. You left out one these individuals had and that is talent. Mike Botts the Drummer was the Drummer for the Group Bread and also played piano for Simon and Garfunkel on Bridge over Troubled Waters. Andrew Gold was Linda’s Music Manager and also a multi instrumentalist who carved out a very successful career of his own. One of most famous songs ‘Thank You For Being A Friend’ . I thought you where very disrespectful to these very talented musicians!
Hey Krizz love your reactions but please don't talk over the Jam session! They didn't just make time for a jam session ,it was crucial to a hit song in the 70's.Funny how the reactors from the rap world don't seem to get that the vocals aren't always the most important part of the song! I really do enjoy hearing your input though
THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY FOR MS. LINDA... YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO HER AND AARON NEVILLE TOGETHER.. HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE YOU THE LINK TO THERE LIVE PERFORMANCE... SOMEONE PLEASE 😊
I got to see her in '86 in concert singing songs from her new album, Canciones de mi Padre ❤ translated... Songs of my father ❤...I got extra Credit in Spanish class if I went 😂 she sang only in Spanish and she was Amazing !!!!!❤
Can't believe he talked nonsense all through that great breakdown. Wow. Aparently he's a "musician" who liikes the sound of his own voice more than the music. Gonna be a tough "road to 25000 subscribers", dude.
Dear Krizz, this was a very interesting video and a welcome reaction by you. However, I'd like to point out that even though the music was fantastic and the vocals superb, it would have been much better for the subscribers to be able to view the performance forward rather than backwards. Thank you very much for giving attention to this matter.
You are partly right what you needed to be a great Rock and roll singer in the 70's. Theres a saying we needed "Sex, drugs, and rock and roll". And, I might add the sideburns were a must to. Lol.
Love Linda Ronstadt. I'm going to go into a different image of musicians with their guitars. The best in country music are Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Chet Atkins & Jerry Reed to just name a few. Have you watched Roy Clark do "Malagueña " on "the odd couple" tv show?
I'm pretty amazed you disrespected the musicians like that. Not bc of what you said, bc you turned the music down and talked over them jamming. I understand most rappers don't use real musicians in their craft, but dang that wasn't cool, man.
It wasn't long before this time when if a guy wore his hair over his ears, it was long, and he needed a haircut. I guess what I'm saying , rebellion. ❤️✌️
So sad she's lost the ability to sing.. she was amazing. A little B4 my time but I love it. I'm more 80's 90's. but Hair Band era in the 80's was my era.. had to have the hair... lol.
Too bad you almost muted the awesome guitar solos while you talked about your observations of 70’s music. I hope people aren’t so disrespectful about your musical recordings.
Back in the day my ex knew that if he came home, and that song was playing loudly on repeat while I furiously cleaned house , to make himself scarce until I calmed down over his most recent azzhole behavior. 😂
Terrible sound quality. Does not do her justice. The best singer of her generation. A female rock star who sold out venues her entire career. And btw Linda is the solo
I need to correct you. you had to have solos in the 70s and 80s. There were so many great people, who had big egos. Try watching the Eagles play. you’ve got like four or five great artist back in the 70s 80s they would fight over their solos. Because they were making real music and they were great at what they did. No, synthesizer and auto tune and such. 😊 do it or retire

It's so sad..This needs to be gone.....tooo many people getting it..❤
She sang country, rock, pop, Country-rock, big band, light opera, Mexican Mariachi on and on

I was blessed to see her several times during my teens and twenties and she is an amazing talent! Thank you for reacting!😽🎶
You talked over an awesome extended and outstanding guitar break.
I know, I didn't understand that.
Most of the Eagle's were in her backup band before they broke out.
She's done really good duets with male musicians too... Aaron Neville and James Ingram to name two❤❤
I absolutely love her! I grew up with her music and now I am alongside her with Parkinson's disease. I have had young onset Parkinson's for about 13 years now since I was 42 years old. Linda is such a gift You would really enjoy Linda's La Charreada Live Performance ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Linda is so very awesome! Her background band is excellent! Love your reaction!
How great is Linda Ronstadt? Your reaction was priceless!✌🏼❤️🎶
Linda has been a favorite of mine forever. I saw her in concert at the university of Missouri in 1978 (tickets were $6.50) 🎸👵🏼☮️
So you talked over the entire guitar solo, nice really nice
And he turned the volume down, because it was distracting him. I think I am going to start crossing this one off my list, BEFORE I watch.
One of the greatest female singers of all time!
This was film from a concert in Germany. This was toward the end, that's why she was doing the band intros. She had one of the best bands around. They were loyal to the boss.
Keep on singing along, it adds!!!
'Blue Bayou' and 'Desperado'
You'll like also..
She can sing anything. Was my dad's favorite singer.❤
I saw Linda with The Stone Poneys way back when at Fillmore East. Fantastic show. Loved your reaction.
She did a large variety of styles and did them all top notch.
You MUST REACT to I Don't Know Much, a duet with Linda and Aaron Neville!! ABSOLUTELY FIRE!!❤😂 Make sure you watch it live from the awards show!!!
You are watching the love of my life. I had Linda Ronstadt posters all over the place. She’s amazing.

I was 16 & everyone loved Linda!❤
Also Andrew Gold in her backup band here went on to have solo hits including “Thank You for Being a Friend,” later used as the “Golden Girls” theme.
Linda had the great distinction of being 1 giantess of a vocalist and one of America's heartthrobs all at the same time she had it all
One of the greatest of all time
Linda did light opera on Broadway and had an album of classic love songs from past eras.
Linda sang her ass off, one of the greats. And one of the major crushes of my boyhood days too

MORE cowbell! :)
She was dating California Governor Jerry Brown in the 70's much to the dismay of many teenage boys like me
You are partly right what you needed to be a great Rock and roll singer in the 70's. Theres a saying we needed "Sex, drugs, and rock and roll". And, I might add the sideburns were a must to. Lol.
Tell Black Pegasus to do this one!
**BLUE BAYOU** is the one you did already I think. Y'all in the comments go find that. :)
You need to check out Linda, emery Lou and Dolly the group they formed has the trio. They made two albums
Love Linda Ronstadt.
I'm going to go into a different image of musicians with their guitars. The best in country music are
Roy Clark,

Have you watched Roy Clark do "Malagueña " on "the odd couple" tv show?
If you've never seen her live, you will never understand. I did and I do.
Love to hear that you had a jam session with Kid Rock
And then there was Linda who didn't smoke & was a famous teetotaler.
Please check out Linda's rendition of Dylan's "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight".
Thanx
Krizz, you NEED to experience her singing mariachi music.
Andrew Gold did his own stuff later. Lonely Boy , Thank you for being a Friend from back when I was in HS.
This was probably the end of the show. I have been to many concerts where there were several guitarists.
You should check out her early stuff like "Love Has No Pride."
the year i was born
She was not an immigrant. Born in USA.
Couldn't hear the music through most of the solos. There is a "pause" button.
The only thing better than more cowbell is
Even more cowbell! Lol
You forgot moon shine. And if you don't blow the harmonica you don't eat.
When you turned down the audio on the instrumental part you lost me
This is why my generation are music snobs.

Linda has Parkinson's Disease which is what has made her unable to sing. I have seen her live several times, she is great!
Beyonce ought to cover that.
I was 14
the performance from the Midnight Special of this song is really wilder: ua-cam.com/video/RJ7bcmrS1U8/v-deo.html
I don't know why, but this song reminds me of Aretha Franklin: R.E.S.P.E.C.T. What do you think?
Check out Dr. Hook and the Medicine show if you want hair, and drugs.
Terrible sound quality. Does not do her justice.
The best singer of her generation.
