  • mifold - the Grab-and-Go Booster Seat ...
mifold is the most advanced, compact and portable child car safety seat in the world. It’s more than 10x smaller than a regular booster and it’s just as safe.
How’s that possible? Well, a regular booster lifts a child to be in the position of an adult. mifold does the exact opposite … instead of lifting the child up, it holds the seatbelt down … it’s that simple. mifold is engineered to protect children from the age of 4 all the way up to 12.
The patented design takes the seat belt off the stomach and the neck, making it comfortable, safe and easy to use. Carloads of kids and parents already tried and they love it.
Why mifold? … Carpooling … parents have boosters for their own kids, but not for the extras that come along. mifold is so small, kids can keep one in the school bag. Grandparents … you need to juggle bulky booster seats from car to car, mifold is so compact you can store on almost anywhere: glove compartment, door pocket, seat back, etc. Taxi … they never have booster seats, and that’s not safe! Rental cars, you probably pay an additional $40 a week, to rent the booster; that’s more than mifold costs and mifold isn’t covered in another kids dinner … or worse! And mifold is easy to keep clean, you can even put it in a dishwasher.
So I thought, if I could design a booster that was mighty small and mighty strong, one that kids could take with them everywhere, then they could always be safe no matter whose car they’re in.
Using super tough plastic polymers and aircraft grade aluminum, top designers, engineers and industry experts together have created mifold - now we are ready to Grab-and-Go!
When inventor, Jon Sumroy's kids were little, he often found that they didn't always have the right booster seat. He thought that if he could make a booster that was mighty small and mighty strong, one that could easily be taken with you everywhere, then children could always be safe no matter whose car they’re in. Jon invented mifold ...

I'm a nanny and I watched 2 brothers. Their parents had the biggest cars seats so I had to get a bigger car! I needed something to fit in more kids and have more room. Couldn't believe how big seats can get. Wish I had this then. Great idea. Won't be surprised when I hear this is a best seller and must have for all cars with kids!

I live in Chile. the first time I saw this product on UA-cam, I thought that it was another great innovation that would never make it on this market. last Friday I was buying groceries at the supermarket and guess what? mifold was there, so I bought it right away and my daughter loved it almost instantly. great product, innovation how it should be, consumer oriented. thanks!!

Great product and great informational video about how it works! My twin boys will be 8 tomorrow, so technically they will be "old enough" to no longer use booster seats in the US. But at 50 inches tall, they are still 7 inches shy of the recommended height for moving out of boosters. This looks like a great product for kids like mine who don't want to have to use "car seats" any more but aren't quite big enough to use only adult belts.

THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER, I TRAVELED WITH IT and it was AMAZING. AND my CHILD LOVED to travel with it. ( while she hates regural carseat) She loves her Mifold. we have green one. Also it saved my spine from injures while putting toddler with carseat to Uber/ Lyft. It was so compact we could take airplane and just use in a cab etc.

wish all these video's featured less of 'Jon' and more of how the seat works. from the few seconds shown in the video, it doesn't seem like most young children will be able to get in or out as easy as a traditional booster.

      Hey +angela ulloa ,
Thank you for your interest in mifold.
The mifold booster car seat is designed to conform to the most universally accepted global booster car seat regulations: European Union ECE R44.4; FMVSS 213 in the United States, and the RSSR regulations in Canada. Prototypes that are representative of the final design have already been crash tested multiple times in testing facilities around the world (UTAC in France, Calspan in the USA and TRL in the UK), and successfully complied with the performance requirements of all these regulations. These test results indicate that the production version will meet the required regulatory standards.
Final regulatory testing for both the EU and USA will be conducted on samples from actual production batches in early 2016.
To ensure good vehicle seat belt positioning, mifold has been designed to conform to The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Booster Belt Fit Ratings (this is a US non-governmental organisation that evaluates and rates the positioning and fit of seat belts). The IIHS has completed a preliminary evaluation of mifold (using the pre-production prototype) and found that as designed, mifold would be rated as a “BEST BET” - their highest rating.
      Best,
      The mifold Team

[If this meets safety standards, keeps kiddos safe and comfortable] Congratulations on a beneficial contribution to lifestyles. I hope that this is as cool as it is portrayed, and that you are very successful! The only thing I can add is that you repetitively and naggingly repeat age and size restrictions in your marketing. Again and again and again. So often that if someone puts a ineligible child in the seat, you can know that you made the guidelines as obvious and clear as possible. Ok. So, be well, do good.👌

+NYM hey! Thank you for your comment and great eye! The actual mifold products that we have are still pre-production and do not look good enough for promotional materials. Because of this, like most companies, we use models of the product in our videos and photos. These are different to the ones that will be manufactured.
mifold is continuing to review and optimize the design of the mifold booster seat including positioning of the vehicle belts and fit within the variety of vehicle seats and belt systems. We are aware of IIHS booster Belt Fit Rating and the Safety Belt Safe booster use guidelines. We are using this information as reference as the design is being finalized.
By the way she is Jon's daughter! :D

Whilst I completely understand the concept and accept the safety claims, there is one big advantage of the traditional booster seat - my children are both shorter than average for their ages and traditional booster seats mean that they can see out of the car window!

In my opinion I dont think this would be very safe for a kid as young as 4 years old, their bones aren't strong enough to take the impact of an adult seatbelt and if you are in a side impact they could be seriously injured, people should really consider a high back booster with 5 point harness these days. If you value your childs safety you wouldnt use these non backed boosters at all.

    • @chrissyburkhart8919
      @chrissyburkhart8919 6 років тому

You’re right. Only 5 years and up are allowed to be in booster seats but really they should stay in a 5 point harness till they outgrow it and then move to a booster seat

Great invention and it should come standard in every car just like a emergency roadside folding warning triangle reflector thing.
Riding a bicycle is much better for the environment and should be stimulated by parents instead of taking them to school by car.
