- In this new series of perfect day trips from the Chateau de Lalande, I jump in the car and go on an awfully big adventure with Marie, Nati and Philip. We go to the magnificent Chateau de Chaumont sur Loire, which was unusually once owned by both Queen Catherine de Medici and her husband's mistress, Diana de Poitiers! They are hosting a stunning exhibition of Floral Art and Marie asked us all to go along with her, on what turned out to be a perfect French day with friends...
Our beautiful scarves are from www.salisa.co.uk
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰

If you ever do Lalande tshirts they should read, "I love a dramatic chicken."
Definitely 😂🙋♂️
Ha!!
I recently visited a farm and saw my first chicken with feathered 'feet'. They were simply adorable and their manner of walk was delightful. LaLande now needs feather footed chickens for the chicken village.
Thank you for sharing this outting.
you beat me to it!
That is the symbol of The Order Of The Porcupine which was established in the 1300s. So that is one old castle!
Prickly bit of trivia that's right on point. 📍
I thought that was the royal crest of Louis XII
Love rewatching the older videos. ⭐️💚
All from different countries having the time of their lives in France. Exactly how the world should work. What fun to watch!
Beautifull flowers, lovely vlog, watching them again, is a plessure!
What a joy to watch
The chicken should be named Madame Pompador, lots of beautiful gardens.🥰
jillipepper5353 looks like an Auracana (sp), South American breed which lays bluish green shelled eggs
The chickens have bustles under their dresses.
That was lovely. Thank you. PS. The Library display must be poetry books.....waxing lyrical!😜
You need to light up that beautiful fountain at night!!!
I was breathless watching the footage from Catherine De' Medici's room. The bold use of purple and blue and deep pinks suited the history and grace of the room. I couldn't possibly go to a chateau floral exhibition with friends; I would be much like Marie, savoring every small detail in every room to the point where my party abandons me as a lost cause. Thank you for taking us along with you Stephanie
That was my favorite exhibit as well!!
Mine too! It was exquisite!
You need to find some amazing lighting for outside the Chateau.
I watched this very late at night, and so as not to disturb sleeping people in the house , I turned down the sound to very low and put on the captions. I highly recommend this. It will add to your enjoyment. So hilarious! The Princess in the portrait was described as "a rich ass". Marie was called, Marley, Maddie, Maggie. Phillip was "fill up guy". The mistakes are a hoot.
One place name became "peasants ass". 😁
Did I really read "dramatic chicken" or was that the crazy subtitles? 😂
Maybe try using earphones?
That is hilarious! My husband is asleep next to me so I quickly turned the music down when it would come on and then I'd turn it back up to hear Stephanie.
your comment made me laugh aloud! haha, thanks!
@@TheBTG88 good idea! However the subtitles are so funny I might continue with them😁
That is fab! :-D You are making me giggle here, I've got to try this.
You are so kind Stephanie, letting the girls choose their scarves first.
Like they would dare pick the dragonfly one after her declaration it was her favourite!!!
LaLande should have Hedgehog in Tiara over the mantel.
Yes! Tomorrow I’ll ask Steph haha
Yes please!!!
Hedgehog in a dressing gown and tiara. Remember La Lande has the dressing gown Mafia!!
There is a gentleman in Waco TX who could make it...wish I had money - I would order it for Lelande
@@chasethecat3839 I've been to his shop, and you're right, he could totally make it. He's so good.
It was great to see Marie out with the beautiful flowers, she's such an artist and you could see the happiness all day on her face.
Ooooooooooooooo I'm thinking somebody did that on their own I'm oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ooooooooooooooooooooo
Ooooooooooooooooooooooo
Okoooooooooooooooooo
What a great day out of Lalande... so nice and a great dinner... ! Selmar quite often joined you, it seems before Phillipe came along... missing Selmar, he is a great part of Lalande!x
You should get some outdoor lighting for your courtyard so you dont have to come home in the pitch dark
There is a light sensitive paint that accepts sunlight and the painted things glow...
Did Leonardo Da Vinci design that chateau?
@@charleswalker1185 You might be thinking of Chambord?
Have to say the Floral show was amazing, buts let’s be real - they could have stuck daisy’s in glass jars in any of those rooms and it would have looked unbelievable. A true royal castle! 👍🌸🥂🇨🇦
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that amazing trip -- you took us all along to see a true fairytale castle we would never see on our own -- take us along , please .... you enrich our lives with your wonderful friendship ❤
Please include Kat more, she’s hilarious 😂
She sure is! She cracks me up all the time! Love her!
Marie is absolutely annoying!
The hens are Pekin Bantams. I have had them for years. Great characters!
💖 Gorgeous hens. Love their gait.
@@teresacarle294 Like ladies wearing a bustle and frilly bloomers!
I LOVED every moment of this video!!!! It was almost... almost as good as though I was there with you on this wonderful day and tour!! Thank you so much for taking us with you!
Those adorable chickens look like bunnies from behind!!! Thank you for sharing these lovely gardens with us :)
Lalande needs outdoor lighting to brighten the outside at night as well - I think it's just as beautiful as any chateau.
What a fantastic day out! I actually feel like I got to go too. As I recall, having read something recently about the Princess, she was just 16 or 17 when she decided that she must have the chateau and purchased it herself. I am sure she would be so thrilled to see her beloved home being used in the manner that it is these days. Thanks for taking us all along!
Another educational and delightful video, I would never have dreamed of seeing such an exhibition. The company was joyful and fun, many thanks Stephanie for making it possible.
What beautiful fun! But really, if France actually has a Don’t Stop Me Now stop sign, then I must learn French right away and leave Minnesota. ❤️ (My first grade teacher told me 62 years ago that pink and red NEVER went together. I was heartbroken because I thought they were so beautiful. They continue to give me great pleasure.) 💕❣️
I know right - that stop sign! All I could think of is - if I tell the kids at school, one of them will paint our one stop sign that we have in town! Then they will get knicked for it by the police and they will say - but Mrs Gordon (our teacher) told us all about it so it was her fault. I will be like don't blame me - blame the French they did it first. All I can think of is all these stop signs around the world getting the 'Queen' treatment now. What a hoot.
The sunshine always breaks through an ordinarily bleak day when I get to view your vlogs...
This was an absolutely stellar episode- so very inspirational; a feast for the eyes. The large leaved trees when you first entered the grounds are magnolia trees. They have large fragrant flowers in the spring. They would do well at LaLande. Thank you for this wonderful chapter. What a fun day!
" I love a dramatic chicken"!!!! That was the funnest day ever, the four of you are hilarious! The flower art was amazing
You guys make me happy😊 love kat, she’s so funny 😂
I had to Print Screen so many times! This is gorgeous -- I know I'll be watching this again and more than twice.
I did the exact same thing!!
Me three lol. Just stunning arrangement s
The trees are Magnolias! What a Beautiful outing. One day I’ll go to Europe!
TY...Loved them
The magnolia have Large white flowers that smell beautiful in June in the southern US.
@@davidnicholson6406 💖Yes, have one in my front yard in 🌞SoCalifornia. It makes me very happy to gaze at it year round. The creamy white flowers are spectacular, and their scent is wonderfully sweet. This year (as a result of all our rain last Winter & Spring) we have red berries on it too. ☮💛🌼
High quality vlog. Thanks so much Stephanie.
Stephanie. Thank you so much for taking us all with you on your day out. It was beautiful.
In San Francisco at the de Young Art Museum they set up a show called Blooms to Art. My boss took use several times to see it on opening night. At the time it was the original museum built probably in the early twentieth century. Many rooms set with paintings, sculptures and furniture. It was amazing. Two years ago I finally got my trip to Paris. We made a large loop out of Paris through Rouen, to hon fleur, to Caan, to Mont St Michel (bucket list for me). Then hell bent for the Loire River chateaux. We chose Chenonceau and Chambord . It was Easter week and Chenonceau was decorated withe the most glorious floral displays. We had two weeks. It was nowhere near enough time.
Thanks for taking us on an adventure this Sunday! Beautiful floral display 💐
Just exquisite. It really was a fairy tale castle, and with the addition of the floral art, magnifique!!!
Spring Trip idea - Claude Monet's garden in Giverny.
Absolutely beautiful! The flowers, castle, grounds. Thank you for taking us along.
I loved this vlog!!!! I loved the drive there, the stop sign was hilarious, the running commentary of your thoughts on the gardens on the way in and then the magical displays within the chateau which were stunning. I feel like I deserved a coffee and some cake after watching. Thanks again for so much fun, education, beauty and laughter. Much love to you all.
What a wonderful vlog loved seeing the gardens and flowers thank you so much for taking the time to do this wonderful vlog🌻🙏🏼💐
That was so awesome to see...I agree with Christine VR...a Hedgehog in a Tiara is needed at LaLande.
Should have dragged Dan along to break it to him subtly what he now has to do in the garden. 🤦🏼♀️🙄🤣
This is really emotional for me to watch - thank you for sharing this. We visit family twice a year, and they live in a place with gardens and galleries and exhibitions. We love going together and we plan our trips around these exact kinds of outings. It's been so sad not to be able to travel safely (we're in the US). Thank you for bringing me the feeling of being with family in beautiful surroundings. ❤️
Absolutely stunning flowers and setting......overload of colour.💐💐🍁🍂💋. Joy and love to you all. 💖
I feel like they decided to do “back to mother nature” because of lockdown and being unable to upkeep the gardens hahahaha
Exactly what I thought!
Why I have always adored La Belle France; Beauty is Queen, Beauty in all her forms
Stephanie, I love to explore with you.
You bring it all to life.
You need to do a series around the world for Netflix
Well done Philip! 👏 I’m so glad you ignored the calls to move on and stopped to photograph those beautiful trees and flowers. I thought they and the trees after that were SO gorgeous that I took a screenshot of them! The contrast of those trees in their Autumn colours was absolutely glorious! 🍂🍁💖
Such beauty...the flowers and the food! I especially "swooned" over the flower arrangement atop the piano and then cascading down onto the floor....so much talent and creativity.
OH...MY...GOSH! This was absolutely fabulous!!!!
It was so wonderful to see Marie so happy being inspired by the day out. She seems to work very hard and is a lovely young personality I love to watch develop.
Really felt like I was on a lovely day out with you, just perfect....thank you xx
The sumptuosness, the inspiration! I was completely carried away.
You expressed my thoughts as well. A little escape.
Stephanie, thank-you!! Amazing flowers show!! Cuánto despliegue de belleza junta!! Gracias!! por "llevarnos" a alimentar el alma. Abrazo!! desde Argentina
Beautiful episode, interesting and calming. The large leaf was an elephant ear - in Zimbabwe the locals sometimes use the leaves as umbrellas in the rainy season !
LaLande should be just as proud of itself - it is an equally exquisite Chateau ! Thanks for the great ‘day trip ‘. X
Yes, I saw those and immediately thought, 'Look just like elephants ears!!'. Even thought I am clueless about plant names and have never been to Africa! Wonderful that they grow in northern climes.
It was so good to go on a journey with you all and see all the beautiful flowers and the Magnificent Castle .as some one who is house bound .this has really made my day x
I think that the chickens may be Millefleur Pekin Bantams 🤔 That is my guess 😊
Loved touring the gardens and castles with ya’ll! It means so much to be able to see such beautiful places in France ✨🏰✨
This is my favorite!!! Such beauty! Thank you for introducing me to France. I had no idea!!!!🥰
I am a florist. So this very episode was only for me I guess. Thank you!
What a beautiful place. LaLande can look just as beautiful if not better with all the imagination you guys have, can’t wait. X
at the beginning you asked what trees were those, they are Magnolia trees.
Yep, definitely magnolias. I have an enormous magnolia in my courtyard which my neighbour tells me is over 200 years old.
Magnolia grandiflora, possibly
Magnolia grandiflora :)
Magnolias are such dirty trees...they never stop dropping leaves
The magnolias that grow in the southern US can grow to be enormous in size, and their blooms smell like lemony heaven.
If you plant elephant ears, give them plenty of sun and tons of water. My grandparents used to have elephant ears planted where the washing machine drained and they were quite happy, and grew as tall as the roof with 3 foot leaves. They will also make a huge flower.
So very beautiful, It was almost, as if I was there! Thank You, Thank You!
Oh that was so mush fun, I love the gardens the castle and to top it off with good food and company. Thank you so mush for taking me along.
Oh wow, I had to research and read all up on Queen Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers after watching Stephanie's last video about this chateau. Talk about drama!!
That was the most inspirational vlog, thankyou Marie for suggesting the outing. I've been under the most stressful mental Fatigue, but after watching all you beautiful people I immediately went outside into my garden and felt the weight of my shoulders lighten to a feather. Keep up the love in your household community because there is nothing more important.
I love the wildness and respect for Nature’s forms...poor Marie, trying to take in the beauty on the way whilst everyone else is goading her on. I would be the same as her, enjoying EVERY DETAIL OF THOSE MAGICAL GROUNDS
This was the most beautiful presentation of flowers and the castle is stunning. Gardens with hidden areas to sit and meditate a very nice idea. Thank you for sharing this lovely day with us. 😘
One of the best blogs you've done. Amazzzzzzing.
Those chickens are bantams; they stay smaller and lay small eggs, but have such a pretty shape and beautiful plumage. And make great mama’s. That castle! What a trip that was. 😊
What an incredible journey. I am making sous vide tenderloin for supper and when you cut into your beef my pot was smelling lovely and I thought I had "smellivision" , it looked delicious.
I loved this weeks Vlog. Beautiful and stunning! Each week keeps getting better.
So lovely to see some things I would probably never see in this lifetime. I am really grateful that you all shared your day.
What a great day out,its great to see nati joining you and taking a break from behind the desk😃what an amazing place, the gardens, the chateau with all the different designs of flowers, beautiful and best of all mari really enjoyed herself 🤗🤗well done guys👏👏
Thank you! Thank you for sharing this stunning day!!! 🥰
I know that someone else commented about the porcupine being the symbol of the order of the porcupine, however this crest is for Louis XII. It was added when he and Anne de Bretagne moved to the castle. He added his crest to the western side of the Renaissance wing and to several rooms inside the chateau.
@Summer Hope We can’t expect her to know everything...lol. She definitely is one of the most intelligent vloggers I watch. Her use of the English language is mesmerizing. She is so eloquent and vivid. You can just picture everything she is describing without even having to have your eyes on the screen.
Oh I love this so much! Looks like a fantastically fun day.
Love the pink /purple dangling flowers and the rose hips
The florals are breathtaking!
Just wonderful Stephanie, everyone thank you for sharing,
just wonderful!!!
Amazing castle, gardens and exhibition. I love how they used the food and wood and branches in the arrangements. Just absolutely stunning. I would probably be escorted out or locked in because I would definitely take a long time.
This was spectacular. The gardens (swoon) and flowers (gasp) were beyond words. Very inspiring. Merci beaucoup.
Thank you for the lovely trip. I truly enjoyed it. Loved all the flowers. Just beautiful. God bless all.
If Philippe likes Autumn he should see it in Québec it is so magnificent it is breathtaking with all the colours from the deepest greens to the brightest reds and yellows. It all happens for about a month from the middle to end of Septembre to the end of October...
Greetings from Red Hills Jamaica.
Another lovely place in France chickens as well.
Your Tour of Castle+florals helped so much to lift Spirits today. Beautiful weather @home 26°c No rain ...went to front door.....US. Intracoastal Waterway taken over yard/ neighborhood with terrible flooding. Why? Because It Can and Does. Philip being Dutch probably understands this. We have many people from Netherlands sharing knowledge to try to help with floods...."The Dutch Dialogues/Charleston". Thanks again for Mental Escape.😘
I live in Charleston too and its a challenge! Pouring rain with a King tide??? Got wellies?
What a joy!! 💖
I went down memory lane too. When I was 4 years young, my mother and her mother took me to a dahlia exhibition. I mean, us farmers, traditionally lined our vegetable gardens with dahlias, lathyrus and sunflowers. I still do.
But when we entered that exhibition, I was the 2000th visitor! 4 Years young! 😄 They gave me a bouquet/sculpture of dahlias, twice my hight. I felt like a queen. 💝
Thank you so much, as a floral designer and a gardener this was so lovely, not being able to travel now this was food for my soul.I share in Maries delight seeing all the florals. The courtyard was an inspiration for sure for Lalande with the gardens along the foundation.. Merci!
I live in Dordogne and on visiting a nearby town a guide told us that there are over 1000 chateaux in the region alone ! Only 40 are lived in by the family. I used to turn my head all the time and shout 'chateau, chateau' but had to stop to save my neck and my friends ears! My garden is full of these wild cyclamen, they are gorgeous.
Loved that you referenced the YSL garden in Marrakech... I’ve been there and the blue in Marrakech is a lot richer. I love the blue in that garden I took of photo of me again that blue. Thank you for sharing such a gem of a castle. That group dinner looked amazing! I’m all for a secret garden 💚
😍😍😍😍😍 just wow! Grandiose chateau and florals exposition! And These chickens are just perfect for LaLande! 💕 love seeing the four of you together and Stephanie you look great! That outfit was just perfect for that outing! 💖
I'm so happy you shared this with us. It's absolutely beautiful!
Thank you for a beautiful autumnal escape. This is why I watch your channel!
What a day the four of you had, thank you for taking us along🧡🍁🧡
Photography, music, video editing, commentaries...everything was perfect to bring out the beauty of this place. Thank you!
I am 2 years late seeing this, discovering your awesome 👌 channel only this year in August, 2021. I am so in love with tapestries!!! Awesome! Thank you so much for your varieties in your vlogs of The Chateau Diaries. What an ideal title. 😊💕
Yum, love the look of all that food, especially creme brûlée
I adore the music you selected for this video. The harpsichord is my favorite instrument! Thanks to you for the tour!
