I would say either a shaggy mullet or a longer wolf cut might be the way to go. Also, don’t be afraid to have an in-depth conversation with your stylist before the cut, and let them know about your hair type, routine, cowlicks, and any issues you’ve had with cuts in the past. They should be able to let you know which cuts will work the best for your hair and teach you how to style it so that it looks the way you want. Good luck!

i’m agender myself, and one hairstyle that i’ve found that is rather gender neutral is shoulder length hair with an undercut, you can wear it down to look fem, brush it to one side for a more enby look, or put it up in a ponytail for a more masc look.

Looks like 12:22 is a winner! That’s the one I keep seeing popping up, and your reaction seemed the most genuine/ excited about it as a first impulse.

As a "first impulse"? Learn the meaning and context behind words before using them.

    • @treetea
      @treetea 2 місяці тому +1

@@malicetosociety wanna elaborate? Not seeing anything concerning pop up in a cursory search. Pretty sure my meaning was clear enough.

@@treetea Genuine emotion and impulse are two different things. First one being pretty self-explanatory. Second one, impulse is a sudden act or compulsion, for something to happen faster. In a lot of cases, something bad or negative. That word is used in different context than this one. You should know this before you write something If it wasn't clear enough.

@@malicetosociety so what word should they use instead? While it’s probably wrong to use it way they did (due to grammar reasons), based solely on its definition, impulse is correct.
      From the Oxford dictionary:
      Impulse (noun)
      1. A sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act
Ex: “I had an almost irresistible impulse to giggle”
Or in the videos case, to gasp in awe. They gasped without thinking, therefore the gasp was an impulse. Therefore the original commenter understood the definition and used it correctly.
If you commented this due to your own negative experience with the way people have used the words “impulse” and “impulsive” around you then I suggest explaining that instead of trying to “uhm actually☝🤓” someone into changing it. People tend to be more responsive to positive and constructive criticism, rather than unasked for criticism which doesn’t even give helpful feedback.

A lot of these are styled. So keep that in mind when deciding a haircut and how much time you wanna spend on your hair.
Also my hairdresser said it harder to style hair that are too short.

I think the verry last haircut (the blue one) would look so good on you. Im not sure about the blue but how it was coloured is so cool.
And it got the length and the texture and you can do so much with it it you want.

I also never got what I wanted when going to a hairdresser. Now I just watch a lot of youtube tutorials and cut and dye it myself:) It somehow always turns out cute and the process is a lot of fun too. Especially mullets and wolf cuts are quite nice to cut since the goal is to have a somewhat messy hairstyle anyway

  • @TranzFloofyBean

I def get this but In a trans fem way if that makes sense like I’ve gone to places to get my hair done but they always make it more masculine and it does make me dysphoric but I think if I go to a queer/trans friendly hair salon it might work out :D

  • @ScarySadFlan

You seemed to respond the best to 12:22, so I would go with that (or anything from that group). I agree that you should try to seek out a queer stylist and/or queer-owned salon because most stylists are trained to follow a template which may not necessarily go with your personality or gender identity. A queer stylist may be more flexible in that regard. Good luck! 💛🤍💜🖤

I’m having a similar problem, I chopped my hair in August, but now it’s February and it’s grown out a lot and it just looks flat and feminine now. It kinda looks like the person at 8:58 (before), except it’s. A lot longer in the back though.

My sister isn't gender queer, just 90s rocker alternative in style, but she LOVES 🙏 doing shags, wolfcuts, mullets, all these fabulous texturized, unique cuts. I'm so proud of her for going with her own grain! And if I hadn't committed to my locs 🙂 (my expression leans a little more demiwoman enby so I'm good with the long for my witchy arse) I would totally let her go nuts and give me some layered death hawk or something if I still had HAIR hair and not my warrior tendrils 😆
Why not get a perm and do your dream cut that way? I totally get the not wanting damage if it's the case, but jic you didn't know that was an option for curls?

From what you said I would recomend something a bit shorter than what you have so you can style it fem/masc/androgynous. Also get layers so it's not flat. I also think you you will need to style it for best results.
You can make your hair wavy with hair straightener or curling iron.
A lot of these haircuta are styled so you need to style as well in order to get the result you saw on them.
edit: I am fan of mulets and wolf cuts, I think wolf cut would look good on you

  • @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug

I think unfortunately the real problem is that haircuts isn't really "feminine" or "masculine" (outside of a society where one length is exclusively for one gender); you'd think that if you're amab and choose a "feminine hairstyle" or afab and choose a "masculine hairstyle" it would average out and look neutral somehow. But long hair on a masculine face just looks like a viking man or Jack Sparrow or Legolas; and short haircuts with a feminine face just looks like pixie haircuts.
And a supposedly feminine "pixie" haircut with a masculine face just looks like they went to a barber and got a regular masculine man's "long on top short on sides haircut"; and it's pretty obvious that long hair with a feminine face just looks like long women's haircut (because there's literally no difference in how the "just let it grow as long as possible and cut the edges straight at some point" haircut is done on either gender (nor is it for the hippie/barbarian "don't do anything to it just wear it long and fraying" hairstyle because theres literally no cutting or stying involved).
In fact I don't think there's any real difference between a "pixie" cut and a classical "mens" haircut except the context of the rest of the face. I'm sure if you photoshop a cis man's haircut onto a cis woman's face (competently, so it doesn't just look fake) it suddenly looks like a "pixie" haircut; and if you photoshop a cis woman's "pixie" haircut onto a cis man's face it looks like a man's haircut (possibly a male model's haircut if it's very styled). (The biggest difference is that cis men tend to use more greasy hair products and cis women tends to use less greasy products that give volume for the same length hair; but even that gender stereotype is less strong now than in the 90s)

At least to your own critical eye; I'm sure I actually look more gender non-conforming than I think I do when I look in the mirror.

Definitely go to a queer salon. Mine is great. As a genderfluid person I love a shaggy mullet or wolf cut. That said, you have to style it some if your hair is very flat.

(okay let me watch the video now)
I do feel like I struggle with a similar thing. As in that my hair is flat. I have thick hair so gravity be doin' gravity things.
I am growing it out now though, and I promised to myself not to go to the barber any time soon.
