I used to have 20/20 vision but I messed up bc of my ignorance and I kept ignoring what doctors told me not to do. so plz if your reading this, listen to your doctor and don't watch youtube videos on your phone for 5 hours at a time. Btw I'm 14 and have 1.25 on one eye and 3.0 on the other one
lol im fifteen and i have on one eye -7.50 and -7.25 on the other eye or even worse im technically blind i cant even remember what its like to have 20/20 vision cuz ive started to wear glasses since kindergarten and my eyesight just got worse and worse every year but im sorry bro it really sucks to have poor eyesight

Oof… I’m a -8.00 in glasses and -7.50 in contacts. Was supposed to be -7.75 in the right eye and -7.50 in the left but after -7.00 they only go up in half sizes. I wear contacts exclusively though, but I’m 26 and my vision gets worse every year 🥴 seeing that lenses thickness on the 8’s is precisely why I won’t get glasses again. My current glasses prescription is about seven years old, so they’re useless when it comes to doing anything like driving especially at night. I just can’t see.
If you´re -8 in both eyes .Why -7.50 and -7.75 in contacts?, shouldn´t both be the same?

When you grow you have early bloomers and late bloomers and a whole shade of inbetweeners. Your eyes will develop differently and at a different rate during the life cycle. If you start off your kid with a strong pair of glasses their eyes will not be developed correctly because of the reliance on those glasses mixing with the sporadic development of the eye during puberty. I would suggest waiting to after puberty to get them glasses and if they really need it to see the blackboard then make sure that the power is at the lowest point needed. It is very hard to fix your eyesight if your eyes were trained to use those values during puberty. My nephew had a -3 and -4 at 12 and aunt didn't give him glasses. After he matures at around 16 he went back to eye doctor and they said he had mild myopia didn't really need glasses around -1. She said it could not be possible since her husband is actually a pilot and she and almost no one in her family needed glasses. My guess is the doctor just kept raising the prescription until the child could see sharper and sharper. Some peoples eyes are super sensitive as well and can tell a slight sharpness increase and WILL go over board when they don't need to. Always get the bare mimimum needed to see for your child then consider at age 16 - 18 to increase the prescription if necessary.

I'm -11.50 in my left eye and -12.25 in my right...my lenses are still thick even at 1.74 high index lenses, but I also have astigmatism which makes lenses thicker. Had glasses since 6 yrs old, I'm now 34. I've got an appointment for contacts. I'm over glasses. Lol

Lens thickness will depend on the strength of your prescription power, your pupillary distance (PD), the size of the frame, and the lens material.
All glasses in this video are made by 1.56 index lenses.

Very strange.
I ordered a ray ban pilot glasses with prescription. Apparently the index was supposed to be 1.61. I have -4 on both my eyes and the lens was 7mm! thick at the edges.
I know the frame size and pupillary distance matters but still, compared to -4 in this video (4mm) with to 7mm with index 1.61 makes you suspicious. Wonder if theres something wrong with my lenses.

They also felt strange so I send them back.

The Batman Guy tried that. They are starting to make glasses thinner but it gets costly. And with my thickness they claim they can only file it down by so much. If you know of an eye place that can get it thinner please let me know.

Genetics usually. I had to have glasses when I was 8 years old. I think I had lenses somewhere around -1 or something like that, maybe weaker. Now my right lens is -6.75 and left is -7.75 at 21 years old... Nearsightedness /astigmatism runs in my family, and my grandma’s vision is really terrible. BUT my she was able to drive until she was around 75 or so! So I’m not too worried about my eyes getting much worse this early on. My mom also just started wearing glasses within the past couple years. I guess I’m a bit young for the poor eyesight, but at least I’m not in the -20 range.
My doc told me your eye grows and then reaches a stage of maturity where it’s supposed to stop growing. Those of us with severe myopia, our eyes just kept growing, meaning they are abnormally long.

People with very high myopia not the one that you get with reading or watching tv, this type of myopia is malignant myopia and you have it from birth.

It was super helpful for me. You can buy lenses in a thinner material than polycarbonate, but I didn’t know if it’d be worth it with my perscription. So this video showed me it probably would be.
