Really good tweaks there and by the sound of it great ones incoming! The 3M protection looks very worthwhile and that wax has just gone on my shopping list! Hi Fella. Cracking review plus good comments. My only concern with this bike is the rear end and how the rear plate etc is mounted. Looks absolutely pants in my view. Have seen a new Suzuki Katana that has a set up like the 660 but have seen a second hand Katana for sale in Colchester Kawasaki and the owner removed the eyesore and well in my view the bike looks so much better with a tail tidy. Otherwise the 660 looks great. Keep safe. Best, Old Bloke.

I thought that. I have seen a similar bag on the RE Interceptor, so hopefully it will just be a matter of time before solutions for the Trident become available :)
Excellent Stuff. MPG is improving :-D. After your last video, I did go an order some scotch guard. I've got the same issue on the tank of my Triple, and I never liked the big bit of rubber that was on offer. So I've got that to twiddle with when I get the bike out this coming weekend :-D
Good video very clear. I did the same with the handle bar foam grip on my Honda CB650R. I like the thicker grip feel and definitely is an awesome mod. I need to test the trident and compare it to the CB 🤣. Ride safe!
@@RocketMan_Moto my local dealer just received the trident last weekend and I went to sit on it. Definitely can’t wait to test it out to see how it compares with my CB650R.
As I will explain in Part 2, I actually vinyled over the red sticker on the font mudguard, so that I can return it to stock for the next owner. Ice silver radiator cowls are on order and hopefully the QS should be here in a week or so :)
Hopefully I can get a test ride on one soon, the bike looks good in all the reviews so far, a couple of people like LCR have said that the ride is very firm.
I'm liking the white version over the black, but your grey is a lovely tone. Here in Ireland, anything emblazoned with a Union Jack doesn't sell too well, which rules out your colour and the matt black.
Lol, I hadn't thought of that. Delicate! Pity, because the silver paint really pops. I'm gradually reducing the red highlights, though. I think they're a bit too much :)
Great video. Well done. Waiting for part 2, because the official mods are actually something that I will get and I need your opinion on them ( how does the quickshifer looks ). The bar end mirrors are fantastic, at least in photos. Also the handle bars for the pillion, they look fantastic. Fuel consumption, that is a better number. 5.1L/km is actually an amazing number, it means 250km per deposit. Nice. Now lets talk about the "remote control" in the right side of the handle bar ( minute 6:23 ). Is it for the Garage door or to activate the NOS system? :) Thank you for the video and keep them coming.
Haha, wish I did have NOS, or a turbo, lol. Just a garage door opener, I'm afraid. Too dull to mention in the video. I'm happy with 5.1, I was getting closer to 6.5 on my Street Triple :)
I would like to hear more about the adjustable levers you went with. I have small hands and adjustable levers would be something I want for my Trident 660! Thank you!
I don't like the tank pads so much but eventually I decided to have Puig transparent one. It looks very good on my white Ducati Supersport. I was worry for too much "yellowish" or dirty "glue" but nothing like this so far. They are also brdanded "onedesign" but I couldn't figure out why. You shouldn't be disappointed.
And after three years of my riding I dare to say - nothing special should happen to the underseat plastic. Only standard blops of oil. Main part will stay with the rear fender. I ride a lot long rides and never found any scratches and I don't have any close to the wheel cover.
@@RocketMan_Moto Just double check, because they like to change design - adding "pseudo carbon" pattern or similar. I was driving to the shop to see with my own eyes the model is only clear and no big "signs" :) I had one Oxford transparent - more flat however not for my eyes and taste.
The rear pegs and arms that "stick out" protect the bike if you drop it. That is why I left it on. Inevitably I will drop the bike at some point in it's life and I prefer to have to protection.
I think in the last video you mentioned that the preload factory setting on the rear shock was set too stiff. Did this get adjusted? Is the ride softer now?

Hi, regarding the 3M protective tape. I'm considering using this as well, mainly because tank pads just don't seem to cover a large enough area for me. I'm currently using electricians tape that doesn't look great but does completely protect the tank as a stop gap to finding a solution i'm happy with. Does this need to be applied with a heat gun / work on curved areas? Best wishes with your lovely new bike.
Thanks, Tim. ScotchGard is a bit tricky to apply, because it's stickier and thicker than, say, normal vinyl wrap. I find the secret is to stretch it A LOT (it's really tough) and use a heat gun now and then just to keep it soft :)
I want to buy a Trident, but i cant find info on the under-seat storage... yes this may seem like a quite minor detail, but i like keeping my manual & some small tools in there and would love if you could quickly show it in the future!
I agree with you. The under seat storage on the Trident is almost non existent and is the worst I've had on any bike. You can just about squeeze a pen knife in there, but that's all :(
Just a "heads up" about the pillion pegs, i dont know how is the police in the south but , here in the center , Santarém they are issuing tickets for everything that they can get hands on, i had a coupple of friends with tickets because they removed the pillion pegs, the officers claim that as the veichle is made for 2 people you must have the pegs there, Great video again :)
Thanks for the heads-up! In the UK & France (where I used to live), you only need the rear pegs if you are actually carrying a passenger when the police stop you, but I will certainly consider your warning. Thanks again :)
Enjoyed all your Trident reviews..have a test ride lined up for Apr 13th..🤞..my only slight concern is the rear end - it looks so sexy - But where does all the road detritis & wet go off the back wheel -little or no bodywork to catch..But I think I could live with an occasional damp rucsack😉..keep up the good work👏👏
Rocket man I am trying to decide between the trident & street triple which do you think 🤔 is best ? Just sold my Suzuki’s and also looking at Kawasaki Ninja 1000abs .
I sold my ST because it was just too hardcore for me as I get older. I was tired of riding everywhere 'at 100mph'. The Trident is a more laid back. Similar, but less mental. Depends what you're looking for really.
Haha right I totally left that part out of the question! Thanks for knowing what I meant anyway, and great find, I just ordered one for my Trident I’m picking up on Monday :-) can’t wait to watch all your videos on the bike!
Not sure if it has a steering damper...Have you tried it at high speeds and does the front wobble? Also, have you ridden at night and what's your experience with the headlight?
Great video I’ve thought about trading myself I’m still looking for a bike last year was just too crazy I love the 890 duke I think they called a rally it’s got the low front fender and the second bike you won’t believe it is the FTR but when I saw the trident I was impressed. But I was even more impressed with the 1200 RS and I am really surprised that you didn’t wait until that one came out I always like your videos do you know what you want and you make the bike yours so thanks again for a good and interestingReview
Three things i noticed on the Trident ,engine a fairly revvy unit ,no proper mudguard i like a proper rear mudguard, and the horrendous scaffolding for the rear pegs which you have got shot of.
Thank you for the update and wonderful scenic shots. With your eloquence and public school type delivery, I had you high on the intelligent scale... Then you revealed you used Siri for a simple maths calculation, I've marked you down slightly. Must get one of those horns. 👍
Is your riding largely in town and commuting? If so then that's great fuel economy! Otherwise that's the same as the street triple s, roughly same price here in japan😅
I'm sensitive, too, and that was why I got rid of the otherwise excellent little Honda CB500X. I haven't experienced much vibration on the Trident, though :)
Lol, no I actually removed it a few days ago and put it on my new Honda Grom, where it is almost invisible. Put the meep meep one back on the Trident, but at least it's visually more discreet.
Could you post a link for the key cover? I’ve looked all over aliexpress and there is only one, but it’s just a triangle and not the actual triumph logo.
Well I looked on the site you bought the key holder on. I looked on Amazon and everywhere else and it no longer exists apparently. After seeing the one you got, the rest of them look very cheap. Ok I found it. It doesn't have the Triumph logo anymore, just the triangle. I think Triumph must have made them take it off. Anyway, i am getting it. thanks for the info. UPDATE: This item can not be shipped to the United States. :(
55 mpg - that's more like it!! Isopropilico........doctor says it'll clear up after a few weeks when the ointment is applied......apparently.... good job with the horn and battery charger lead and monitor too. Just out of interest, do the grip puppies degrade over time? Enjoy your new steed, all you need to do now is give it a name. Steve
Lol, thanks Steve. I’ve never had a problem with Grip Puppies, though I’ve heard others have, especially if used out in the rain. They’re cheap though, so even if you have to replace them once a year, it’s not the end of the world 😊
@@RocketMan_Moto Yup - not really any weather problems in sunny Portugal so idea. Will you do any more than you currently have for security for the bike?
Might as well wrap the whole bike in film and maybe leave in the garage forever 🤣 I wouldn't bother trying to protect the undertail section personally.

Thanks for the heads-up! In the UK & France (where I used to live), you only need the rear pegs if you are actually carrying a passenger when the police stop you, but I will certainly consider your warning. Thanks again :)
Enjoyed all your Trident reviews..have a test ride lined up for Apr 13th..🤞..my only slight concern is the rear end - it looks so sexy - But where does all the road detritis & wet go off the back wheel -little or no bodywork to catch..But I think I could live with an occasional damp rucsack😉..keep up the good work👏👏
Thanks, John. I understand your concerns, but tbh it rarely rains down here and when it does, I take the car, so it's not really an issue for me :)
I dont though!😂..
My 1200 Thruxton averages 60 mpg US! But a 3 cylinder would be mare thirsty. Those reflectors are required in the UK/EU and US.
If I had to keep side reflectors on, I would order some black or possible white ones. Anything but orange, lol :)
Nice
Thanks
Great video and a very good idea to remove the pillion pegs, I do the same and replace when ever the bride sees fit to join me on a ride..
Thanks, Patrick. Only problem is the unsightly lugs on the frame, but there should be blanking plugs available soon :)
I've used the black blanking plugs off the engine where I've fitted the engine bars..
Great idea👍
Hi,
Have you seen Tec parts in the uk.they are doing some bits you may be interested in for your bike .
Tony
Yes, I saw their video this evening and have ordered those adjustable foot pegs. Thanks😊
That’s more Like 👍 it thanks MPG
Yep, 55mpg is very good for a brand new engine :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks Much appreciated Please Keep doing the videos . Here in Naples Florida No Tridents Yet .
Do you happen to remember if you ordered it in brown or burgundy? Thanks so much!
Are you referring to the leather key cover? If so, it's the 'Brown' model :)
Haha right I totally left that part out of the question! Thanks for knowing what I meant anyway, and great find, I just ordered one for my Trident I’m picking up on Monday :-) can’t wait to watch all your videos on the bike!
No problem. There's a new Trident video coming tomorrow... sort of. Should make the wait a little more bearable. Enjoy yours:)
Not sure if it has a steering damper...Have you tried it at high speeds and does the front wobble? Also, have you ridden at night and what's your experience with the headlight?
No steering damper as standard. I've not been over about 120kph, though, so can't really comment on high-speed vibrations :)
How's battery removal? Looking at that picture I get flashbacks of my Sprint ST and how I had to partially remove the tank to get the damn thing out.
I must admit I haven't tried yet, but it looks like a straight unscrew & pull job
Are there no aftermarket exhausts available for trident? Haven't found a single on the net.
I've seen a Yoshimura on a Trident in Belgium, but there will be more along soon, no doubt :)
Thanks you, Keith. The 890 Duke is much sportier than the Trident :)
Three things i noticed on the Trident ,engine a fairly revvy unit ,no proper mudguard i like a proper rear mudguard, and the horrendous scaffolding for the rear pegs which you have got shot of.
Definitely cleaner without the pegs, pity about the rather obvious lugs welded to the frame🧐
@@RocketMan_Moto Maybe a couple of button head stainless bolts will tidy the holes up.
Looks like it's great for a cafe convert. Bar ends, seat, remove decals. I Wana see it
More mods coming soon :)
When the second part?
When Triumph Algarve can install all the accessories I ordered :)
Any idea if they will be doing any exhausts for the bike any time soon? been looking on google but haven't really found anything.
I've seen photos of a Yoshimura can on it, but it looked terrible (too big). I'm sure there'll be plenty of options soon :)
Indeed I also need to swap the horn of my CB500X to something more beefer....;)
The front fender without stickers is much better.
Haha, beefy horns are great! Full details of the sticker will be given in part 2, but I haven't actually removed it... :)
Thank you for the update and wonderful scenic shots.
With your eloquence and public school type delivery, I had you high on the intelligent scale... Then you revealed you used Siri for a simple maths calculation, I've marked you down slightly.
Must get one of those horns. 👍
Haha, sorry about the Siri snafu. Hopefully you will forgive me once you've heard the SoundBomb. I put one on my Honda Monkey - even better!
@@RocketMan_Moto snafu!! , I'll use that, not one of Samuel Johnson's but hey ho, thanks.
Soorry, I have a question. Is it legal to remove thoose orange fork reflektors in EU?
Technically no, but I’ll risk it because orange and red just don’t go together😬
Is your riding largely in town and commuting? If so then that's great fuel economy!
Otherwise that's the same as the street triple s, roughly same price here in japan😅
Mostly small-ish country roads, like you see on my videos :)
Are you still happy with engine vibration levels? I'm really sensitive to them and I'm hoping this has minimal vibration.
I'm sensitive, too, and that was why I got rid of the otherwise excellent little Honda CB500X. I haven't experienced much vibration on the Trident, though :)
Do you still have the horn on the same place?
Lol, no I actually removed it a few days ago and put it on my new Honda Grom, where it is almost invisible. Put the meep meep one back on the Trident, but at least it's visually more discreet.
Nice mods, one of the first mods to my Street Triple was removal of rear pegs as it looks so much cleaner.
I agree, much nicer with them off :)
Could you post a link for the key cover? I’ve looked all over aliexpress and there is only one, but it’s just a triangle and not the actual triumph logo.
As I mention in the video description, I can't find the key cover anywhere either. Sorry about that, it might reappear soon??
Obrigado / thank you ! Sunny in Algarve ?
Thanks. Mostly sunny, but still a cool wind :(
Well I looked on the site you bought the key holder on.
Oh no. I should have bought them all up and sold them direct, lol. I know Triumph are extremely protective of their logo, so you could be right.
Gosh! I so want one.
It really is a nice bike, probably the best I've ever owned, given the price . I hope you get to try one soon :)
@@RocketMan_Moto i hope so too! Thanks :)
I do wish the plastic knee grips were rubberized though.
Any word on slip-ons for this bike?
I've seen a photo of a Yoshimura end can fitted, so there are sure to be many options out there soon.
My 2008 Concours will get 49mpg US. If the Trident gets 46 mpg, that’s pretty bad.
It's good enough for me. I was averaging 38 mpg US with my Street Triple. Maybe I ride too hard?? :)
Hi! Did yours came with the quick shifter?
I ordered one, but it wasn't available on delivery. Hopefully next week...
Might as well wrap the whole bike in film and maybe leave in the garage forever 🤣 I wouldn't bother trying to protect the undertail section personally.
I have decided not to do it :)
a sweet voice!
Thanks :)
Just download an app called "Units Plus". It has conversions for area, currency, data, fuel-milage, length, power, pressure, speed, temperature, time, volume and weight.
Incredibly useful.
I will check it out, thanks!
I am from India
I have many viewers in your country. Welcome :)
Good video.
But..
You said that in the bmw never used the quickshift and now you order one? Came on!!!
You only need that if you put the rpm really high every single time. Whachting our video your drivin is the oposite.
Join the Kawasaki Z650 to the group test. 🙂
Good rides. Stay safe.
Bye
I don’t recall saying I never used the quickshift on the BMW. I used it a lot.
@@RocketMan_Moto hummm....i have to review the video.
If so, my apologies.
It doesn’t matter😊
@@RocketMan_Moto , at 4:06. "...Dind't used it that offen".

Oh! You forgot to mention that ugly red sticker you removed from the front mud guard.. 😊
I didn't forget, it's for Mods & Tweaks Part 2... and I haven't actually removed it! :)
That’s a Cracken bike.
Thanks, Fred :)
Data 5,1/100 km is o.k., don't care how much mpg it is...
Most of my viewers are in the UK & US, so it’s only right that I convert the numbers for them😊
@@RocketMan_Moto as a US viewer, I appreciated the conversion (;
"not good for a pssenger" idk my wife can tolerate the STRX and this looks plush compared to that.
I think you would need to try it, but the rear seat is pretty small. Not a problem for me, as I don't use the Trident for 2-up riding :)
