Thank you all for the support on this video! I have some more Tears of the Kingdom stuff planned for the future, so I hope you all stick around for that!
I just want to say I appreciate this video SO much. While I DO understand a lot of people’s problems with the game, I feel a large chunk just complain for the sake of complaining, and just refuse to look at any of the good this game (and botw even) have to offer. Even if your future videos about this game aren’t as positive, I will still be watching. What you said about the dungeons legitimately made me happy❤
@@CharleaMartin I'm glad you liked the video and plan on sticking around! I don't think I have any negative opinions I plan on turning into videos, but I do have some more TotK stuff planned to come out in the future.
The Colgera bossfight in the Wind Temple is something unique. It is so artistic and the song goes so hard. Diving through a monster to hit its weak points feels way more "Zelda" than any Blight Ganon ever could. For me, it is the second best boss battle in the game (the best one being the final).
Tbh, the boss fight is little bit too easy cause you can effectively defeat each phase in a matter of a few seconds (esp if you have the Zonaite bow) since you can dive below the boss and hit all three weakpoints with like three arrows. still better than the blights tho
@@KommandantAegis I’m pretty sure it was not meant to be hard and you don't even need a bow to defeat Colgera easily. But it doesn't make the fight a bad experience. It works because it is fun and epic at the same time.
@@goldengamer6474 There was nothing “underwhelming” about the Blights. You guys simply haven’t replayed the game enough to recognize and appreciate why these boss fights are still fantastic.
Good stuff! I agree in that the journey to the Storm Wind ark is fantastic. I feel like people misunderstand the way the dungeons work in this; The edifice itself isn't just the dungeon, the journey there to each dungeon in the game should be considered as part of the dungeon itself as well. I think it's an amazing way to integrate them into the environment.
Agreed! They were a brilliant conclusion to your journey with that region's Sage, and the Temple themes I think are my favorite in the series. I knew I was experiencing something special the moment I heard the Rito Village theme after opening the Wind Temple's 3rd lock, and it all came crashing down during the Colgera fight.
Much appreciation for the video. I’m kind of unique in the gaming world as I am past 60 years old and have finally, within the last month, Decided to try playing a Zelda game. Not just the first Zelda game I’ve ever played, it’s my first video game at all. My wife has been something of a gamer since the 1990s so I’ve helped her with map reading and that sort of thing over the years but I’ve actually never picked up a controller and played; so this is all new to me. Your explanation was very helpful to me. I’m about to start Towards the Rito Village and I’m a little nervous about getting through it. But you laid out some very simple processes which I can apply to my gameplay. Just wanted to say thank you and good luck with your channel.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad my video was able to help you! You definitely chose a good game to start off with, I'll say, so I hope you have fun. Just remember that there is no wrong way to play as long as you have fun!
I only have the Lightning Temple left to go, but so far, the Wind Temple is definitely my favorite dungeon in the game. Colgera, too, is my favorite boss so far. And while I've never played Wind Waker (it is on my to-play list, though), Colgera's boss theme really does give me chills... no pun intended. It's just so grand and epic and fits amazingly with the scale of that fight. And that first intro to Rito Village was *haunting.* Just walking around the village, seeing only children as I made my way up, all I could think was, "Where are all the adults? Why did they leave the kids alone? Are they dead?" I was honestly beyond relieved when I saw Teba and Saki up there with Tulin, because I was really starting to worry that all the adults were just... gone, and that it was some sort of Lord of the Flies situation in the village with the kids all alone. I'd done Zora's Domain first (didn't realize until I started headed towards Gerudo Desert that I ended up doing all the dungeons in the exact same order I did in BOTW- Water, Wind, Fire, Lightning), and I loved that one too, but that intro to Rito Village still just... sticks with me. It was honestly harrowing. They really gave it the justice it deserved after the kind of flat buildup it was given in BOTW, and I couldn't be happier.
The moment when I first entered Frozen Rito Village will always stick with me as well. After finally getting back to the Hyrule I remembered from BotW, it didn't really click with me how bad things were going for the kingdom until I reached Rito Village, that's when I suddenly really wanted to help the village. The buildup is so good in the entire Rito story.
I feel like in botw leading up to Vah Ruta was my favorite in botw and Vah Medoh was the most meh and it’s the opposite in totk where wind temple was my favorite here and water temple was just meh.
Great video! The atmosphere of Rito village and the way up to the Stormwind ark are some of my favorite parts of totk, especially when you jump onto the ark from above the clouds, really awesome.
I agree. The beginning section of the game felt magical. You can tell the devs put so much effort into the ambiance, music, and story since the game guides you here first. Honestly, I felt this way about the Zora section on BOTW. It really seems like the part of the game where Nintendo is guiding and creating a breathtaking experience is where they shine best. I'm beginning to resent the open world direction of botw and totw. We are getting exploration better than any other Zelda, but other aspects are failing hard for me.
Yeah, I think we should go at least a little bit back to the way the old Zelda games were, I think there should still be some open world aspects, but I shouldn't be able to do whatever I want from the getgo for every Zelda game for now on. I want to feel like I'm making progress like I did in Ocarina of Time, or Skyward Sword. I still love Botw and Totk though.
The Rito plot line has been my favourite so far between the regional phenomena. I am familiar with long winters and before the modern age many people starved to death due to being under prepared/over taxed for them. Even after you stop the eternal blizzard the Rito situation is still dire but now they have a chance to rebound thanks to supply routes being able to make it to the village so they can recuperate their food stored. The kingdom unified is stronger than fractured.
First time I got there I also build a huge bridge out of logs, only to notice this playthrough that the npc nearby tells you that if you throw pinecones into fire a huge updraft gets created, with a campfire right besides him and plenty of pinecones all around xD
major props to golden gamer for delivering one of the most informative and interesting videos I've seen in a while! The way they break down Rito village in its frozen state is not only crystal clear but also insanely engaging.
The Hebra Peak cyclone was probably the area I was most excited to explore after seeing the trailers, and they really delivered. Everything from the start of the Rising Island Chain to the Colgera fight is an absolute masterclass in building atmosphere. The Rito got so screwed in Breath of the Wild so it's great to see them get such an incredible quest in this game.
Never thought to build my own bridge to Rito Village. I always upgrade my stamina and paraglide over from the Skyview Tower, stopping on a pillar to rest along the way. They stamina upgrade is more to get to the pillar to rest than to get from the pillar to the village.
The way you crossed that bridge was different but if you talked to the guy sitting infront of the pot he'd tell you that throwing a pinecone into a fire made it strong enough to blow a person away. Or something to that effect. There is a small campfire set up near the bridge so if you lit it and threw in a pinecone or two you'd be able to paragliding over. Love seeing the different ways people overcome these obstacles though so keep it up.
@goldengamer6474 not dumb just different. As long as you completed the task it doesn't matter the way you achieved it. In ToTK there is no right answer to these puzzles. like many, the rito quest line was the first one i went for. doing that entire ascent up the ships and traversing through the blizzard in the sky was just so magical on my first day with the game. and then of course the colgera fight. while not the hardest, it certainly set the bar extremely high for the rest of the dungeon bosses and for me, none of them even came close to reaching it.
