- Dr. Rowe shows one of his personal favorite exercises, the scorpion cobra.
This exercise takes two popular yoga poses and combines them to target everything in, and around, the lower back. That way you can get quickly lower back pain relief in a short amount of time.
As a bonus, this exercise can be done in bed and requires no equipment. Also, it can be used as a daily mobility exercise to help prevent low back pain.

The cobra helped me so much after super early and long retail shifts once I found out about it. Release your core muscles and you’ll feel that stretch deep. Great stuff Doc.

FOR US OLDER FOLKS: I'm not able to get on the floor, so I did this against the kitchen counter. Of course, I couldn't bring up my feet, but I gently turned and then did the scorpion. My back did feel better afterwards. Thank you! 😅

Slept on my back very badly last night & this has helped loosen up some of the tention.

Should’ve seen the grin on my face when k got up. For the past week I’ve really notched up my training and put a lot of stress on my quads which resulted in some serious lower back pain the past few days. Combing through the internet looking for something helpful was coming up dry until I found this. Literal 2 minute workout took away almost all of my lower back pain and brought my so much joy. Amazing video!

I've had chronic pain for 15 years after being assaulted. I wake up each morning stiff and my back feeling weak, my lower back "earthquakes" when I move the wrong way, or sit down, or get out of bed. This exercise really helped to "release" some of the tension and stiffness. Before the exercise, It was painful to bend down. I have to do that alot today with the kids for the Easter egg hunt!!! Now it's a little easier and doesn't feel like concrete settled in my sacrum area. Thanks for sharing!
I have had three lower back surgeries for pinched nerve. All okay, now. Cobra move is my favorite every morning. So important.

WHAT IN THE WORLD!!! I literally been dying from lower back pain and I’m a fit guy. Thought I was going to have to head to the ER it was so bad. Couldn’t sit in a chair or anything. Started doing the scorpion, felt ok on my right side but had pain in my left lower back pretty soon into trying it on my left side. Think it's my QL muscle.

I do these stretches on my clients have been for 20 years now.. 2 thoughts however on your video. Clarify for the viewers perhaps to keep the glutes released when they lift the body so the sacrum is lengthened from the lumbar spine. It's important to know a proper breathing sequence so you connect with the stretch too!! when I rock the legs, your move is stage 1, I continue with clients who improve their routines to stage 2 & 3 so they continue opening as stage 1 becomes easy. Blessings 🌸

@@kathybigelow6297 Hi there, goodness 4 months ago 🙄 There's more to this when I work with my clients.. I have them do things like keep their ribcage stable so they feel opening in the lumbar then
Slide the legs differently it's almost like a shearing this prevents the pelvis from locking down. Once they learn breathing & basic movements I adapt stretches for the individual client. You notice people doing a Cobra with engaged glutes that will jam the SI joint. Breathing into that extension allows the illiopsoas a release as well... My clients learn that stretching means you do not engage muscles. Engaged muscles defeat the purpose of the stretch.... Movement should be fluid, not powerful or tense. I use varieties of modalities for my basis, however to keep clients comfortable I don't subscribe to a specific religion or Infer it's from a particular culture. Movement is movement throughout the body...

Recently had back surgery and have been living with sciatic pain for years. Day one of trying these out. Everything hurts like hell. Will update as days progress.

If any of you guys had my problem, which was working out and heard/felt something pop in my lower back. As a matter of fact, even if you don’t have my problem, stretching is the friend we seem to never call on. At 41 y/o age…I’m learning how important that is. Not sure if it had anything to do with my issue that started this past afternoon but I bet your a$$ from now on stretching is going to come before anything. It’s THAT important…💯

100% works, I pulled my back yesterday, I was in loads of pain today, I saw this and tried it immediately. I can now stand up straight with 80% pain gone. A very hot bath has also helped. I will try this throughout the day. Thanks
